The Sandman Hotel Vancouver Airport garners mixed reviews, with guests praising the efficient service and convenient airport shuttle, often highlighting the friendliness of the staff. However, the hotel's rooms don't escape criticism, described by some travelers as cramped, outdated, and occasionally lacking in cleanliness, leading to discomfort due to noise, odors, and cleanliness issues. While the on-site Moxies restaurant is a plus, opinions are divided on the value, as many guests feel the hotel's offerings do not justify the cost, with some amenities considered subpar for the price paid.

I stayed her for the mandatory quarantine. All circumstances considered, it was honestly a good hotel. Although check-in was at 4, they were accommodating people as early as they could so I was able to check in at 1.30 pm which was much appreciated after a long flight. The room (executive queen) was decent size, and had a little kitchenette which I appreciated. What they didn't have in the room (toothbrush, coffee cream etc), you could call front desk and get fairly quickly. The food was from Moxies and were delicious! Every meal felt luxurious! It took about 40 minutes to deliver which was reasonable considering how many guests they were feeding. The AC in the room was loud so just bring ear plugs when you are sleeping. My only complaint was the carpet seemed like it could use another vacuuming, and there were some crumbs under the chairs so I kept my flip flops on during my stay. Otherwise the bedding and bathroom was clean, very comfy bed and fluffy pillows. If you are having trouble booking a room on their website, or it says its full, try calling their reservation directly. They are very helpful and easy to book that way. Thank you Sandman and Moxie's! Will definitely book here again!

My overall rating is very positive. The Hotel did exactly what they promised to do. They credited
my taxi fare, they provided food to their voucher limit , and did not try to nickel and dime with
extra costs. Also they had the best rates of any hotel . Why would anyone want to spend twice
as much for what amounts to prison time imposed by the Government ? The accommodation was
excellent. They even had a sofa and two televisions.

very comfortable area with extremely friendly staff around. Knowing that ordering room service food may take a bit long time though the service was extraordinary. Didn't expect the staying room was large enough in making myself feel like staying home

My wife and I booked two nights at a nearby hotel but after reading reviews about the property we had second thoughts and canceled to book at Sandman. We've never previously stayed at a Sandman so we weren't sure what to expect but have been really surprised at the cleanliness and quality of the property overall for the price that we paid. In particular the staff is what shines at this hotel from the front desk to the manager that really helped my wife who needed some important documents printed out, to the cleaning staff that everyday has done an amazing job. I feel that this hotel is one of the best money for value properties that we've stayed in Canada. The only downside is that its a bit of a walk to get to restaurants though the positive is that Costco is a block away. Also they have a great Moxie's restaurant on the 1st floor which also has great staff and a decent menu. My wife and I felt that the manager Catherine in particular was on top of everything and we were surprised that she also worked the front desk on some shifts which is rare to see in a hotel of any kind. We decided to extend out stay from 2 nights to 5 nights instead of booking at another hotel while we were staying in Vancouver.

I stayed at the Sandman for the mandatory 3-day quarantine upon arrival to Vancouver, and my experience could not have been better. We took a cab from the airport to the hotel and were fully reimbursed for the fees upon check-in. Staff were extremely welcoming and thoroughly explained everything to us upon arrival. The room itself was spacious and very tidy and the bathroom was also nicely cleaned. The $150/day credit given could be used to get food delivered from the hotel Moxie's and the food was hot, delicious and the credit was more than enough for 3 great quality meals everyday during the quarantine! Overall my mandatory hotel quarantine experience was great thanks to the amazing service provided by the staff of the Sandman, and I'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone flying into Vancouver!

The hotel is old , the room needs up dated. Room could have been cleaner, sheets smelt musty. Customer service at the front desk was good, and the wake up call was great.
-The shuttle bus driver working Tuesday night picked a bunch of people up , not all staying at the same hotel. He seemed very angery at every one on the bus, throwing everyone's suit cases around. He was driving so fast through the airport parking lot , and on the way to the hotel it was ridiculous . The bus was full, and a few some children on the bus.It seemed liked a bad case of road rage! We reported it to the front desk on arrival, and also other passengers complained as well.
The next morning new shuttle bus driver, drove the speed limit and was respectful of all the passengers.Great guy.
Management should seriously fire the night time driver, before he injures or kills someone. He need to get help and a new job!!!

So I chose the sandman in to quarantine in when I flew home from Mexico and may 15th. I have to say I was very happy with my experience. My results came back within 20 hours and the sandman hotel offered to let me leave soon as I had my results. They allowed you to go out walking around the parking lot as many times as you needed, they did not have a security to take you, and the food they brought you were allowed to order right from moxie's restaurant. You were allowed to order rate off the menu and choose anything you wanted including beer and wine. The best part about it is they allowed a $150 credit each day off the rate for food and beverages. I stayed 2 nights to rest and then got in my car and drove home with a couple bottles of wine.. Us at the end the general manager David gave me a credit of $300 for the last night I have to say for a quarantine hotel I was very happy.

Given the price and the ambiance of the lobby, I expected a clean room and a comfortable stay. Instead I found an old blood stain on the sheets, built up grim on the baseboards, and mold on the AC unit.

The room faced the sunrise and the blackout curtains were lovely, but there were no inner curtains. Until noon the options were blinding direct light that heated the room or zero natural light.

I complained to the front desk and was told the room would be given a deep clean and that they would look for curtains. I mentioned that I would be waiting in the lobby. I was kept waiting for 2.5 hours. Eventually I went up to see what was happening. There was no special deep clean. I had been waiting for house keeping to make their normal rounds. The sheets were changed, but otherwise the room was the same. Grim in the corners and no curtains.

To be clear, this is not an issue with housekeeping. This is an issue with the hotel's management. The daily 15 minutes housekeeping has for each room is not enough time to do a deep clean, which rooms need at least once a month!

They should refund mandatory hotel quarantine guests at least one of their nights. It’s a huge cash grab. Results come back in less than 24 hours. No option to opt out of the $100 Moxie’s food voucher. Not great if you have foos sensitivities or restrictions. You also don’t get refunded the vouchers you don’t use when your results come back early. Room cleanliness was not up to standard especially during COVID. Fingerprint smudges from other people, random hairs, dust, smear on the headboard. Bed was comfortable and sheets were clean. The staff was friendly.

Dirty, older hotel, paid way too much for our dirty room. It’s Covid times and it’s not very clean here. The elevator had an automatic hand sanitizer machine that was empty all of the 3 days we stayed here. The entrance is very deceiving, looks nice. The moxies was really good though.

Not sure if it was an official smoking area, but several people were smoking under a covered area at the rear entrance of the hotel next to Moxies. For a five night stay i believe the deposit was around $700

Outside the international arrivals there is a crosswalk go towards the parking area. At the second crosswalk there is a shuttle Bus area. Every half hour I believe. No need to book. First come first serve.
