My wife and I chose Quality Hotel South to overnight after a long flight: the price was better than other offerings, and they offered a shuttle.
The room was comfortable, and even impressed my wife (not an easy thing to do) by offering a long wooden window-seat-like bench near the window—ideal for placing suitcases. The room was clean; the bed soft but comfortable; the bath long enough to have a proper bath in (an increasingly rare commodity).
Really, the only let-down was at breakfast: they offer a decent Continental selection, a proper toaster (instead of the industrial-style roller type), and even a pancake-maker——but the offering of cheap plastic cutlery with standard ceramic bowls, cups and plates is so weird and discordant. Real metal cutlery is not only infinitely classier and nicer to use, but also reusable and better for the environment, and just as easy to clean as the cups and plates—so why the heck not? Just for that reason, we'd think twice next time about staying there. This is an easy fix, guys.

I paid $95 and got what I paid for basically. Room was good for the price - there was several long hairs on the bathroom floor (not mine) bath towels are thin and tiny. The breakfast was your usual hotel fair of toast, cereals, eggs, sausage and waffles. The shuttle only goes every hour and was 15 mins late arriving. I’d probably stay here again if I could get the cheap rate though

This was the 3rd time I have stayed and probably the last. The cleaning of specifically bathrooms is worse, the fixtures are in need of updating. On the upside the beds are comfortable, the staff are great and the old elevator still works, the shuttle service to and from the airport is great and again with a very competent driver. The price point is crazy but most places since COVID have increased prices, which makes the location an even more disappointing experience. You usually get what you pay for but this is crazy.

I stayed for one night at the hotel - shuttle, room and breakfast were good. I am giving this property one star because of the non-response of the manager in resolving a billing dispute in which I was charged for a room that had been cancelled. Emails (from the hotel) were sent to the manager showing the initial booking, the modification to date and then the free cancellation of the room. Follow up emails and phone calls were not responded to. Wound up having to resolve this through my credit card company.

Very distressing experience, hotel manager does not respond to serious allergy and health concerns. We stayed in his hotel and paid for the 3 night quarantine stay. There isn't enough space to document everything that happened, but this was supposed to be Covid safe and protect us, however it was the complete opposite. Rooms were very dirty, strangers hairs in the bed and bathroom tiles, stained bedding sheets, carpets and walls. We requested a room change which was slightly better but we still had to sleep with our own towel on the pillow as it was filthy! We requested hot water and waited two hours before we had to get it ourselves. We ordered two breakfasts, only one came and was not gluten free so were asked to return the breakfast and staff started moving food around from other boxes without gloves and handed back a breakfast that still contained gluten. It was clear staff had no understanding of allergy concerns and cross contamination impacts! We didn't receive food for 18 hours after being promised they would order a new breakfast and the government health authority intervened and released us after only 20 hours. We contacted the manager then and still chasing since (a week and a half later), he is yet to return our calls and emails. For nearly $1,200 for 3 nights and only staying for 1, this is what we got!

Really surprised this property has such a mediocre rating. I also stayed at their sister property - the Coast Hotel on SW Marine Drive - and felt that the Quality Inn was superior in pretty much every way.

The location can't be beat for those looking for something close to the airport and/or a mall. The CF Richmond shopping mall is within walking distance, and east of that is the SkyTrain that can get you to Vancouver cheaply and quickly. There is a park directly south of the property which looked great but I didn't have time to check out. Lots of banks and restaurants nearby. Room was spacious and modern. The staff actually read my accommodation requests and booked me on a high floor, a rarity. Internet was fast, lots of TV channels.

Can't think of anything I didn't like about my stay, even if it was only one night. Highly recommended.

We were booked for 12 nights. We arrived after midnight and were forced to pay for the whole 12 nights straight away.
This is the only hotel that has ever required us to make full payment at the beginning of the stay. The room was marginally clean. We had to clean the heat pump filters ourselves in order to be able to use the air conditioning. It was still smelly when on. The sealant around the hand basin was damaged and within a day had developed black expanding mould. The hotel does not do daily cleaning…citing COVID regulations as an excuse. They will only clean or change towels when you ask them. We bought cleaner and cleaned around the hand basin ourselves….then discovered, whilst wiping down the dark counter top as well, that lots of black dirt came off the counter top into the tissue paper we were using. The counter top was filthy! A full Breakfast was included in the price that we paid….however due to COVID regulations again, all we received was a small go bag with a yoghurt, tiny muffin, small juice, and small apple. A complete con. They should update their website. Because we had fully paid we were forced to stay….as no guarantee that we would get our money back. Wouldn’t stay at this hotel again…even if you paid me. The only good thing was the free transport to and from the airport.

The hotel is close to the airport and there is an on-demand shuttle, which took 15 minutes to arrive for me. There was no assistance with my bags at check in and the luggage carts are old and unweildly. The rooms are average but the water is hot and strong and the bed is comfortable. The breakfast was utterly boring but saved with an excellent old school waffle iron. I booked my transfer the night before but they wouldn't confirm it until the morning which was frustrating, as was bringing my bags down again in the half broken trolly. It was perfectly fine but not wonderful.

I don't normally take the time to give poor reviews but this hotel is the exception.

I recently visited a friend in Nanaimo and had to stay in Vancouver for a night. I chose this hotel ahead of time because it looked decent and had a reasonable rate. When I arrived at the hotel around 2am, the front desk employee, Deep, was very kind and friendly. All went well until I opened the door to my room (#300 or #301) and immediately noticed a stench of something horrid.

Upon entering the bathroom, I noticed the bathtub was filled with a yellow liquid and had black mold inside the liquid floating around. Normally, I would understand that it simply needed to be cleaned, but the stench lingering in the room made it so that I could not come close to falling asleep. I experienced a burning sensation in my nose and felt this could've been a very serious health issue.

I called the front desk and explained to them the situation and that I will need to stay in another room or have someone fix/clean the issue. Deep informed me that no maintenance was available, all the rooms were reserved for the night and changing rooms would not be possible. I told Deep that I will most definitely be bringing this up with the manager and that I will need some form of reimbursement since I am being forced to stay in a room with potential mold and cannot sleep. Since the only other option was sleeping on the street; I stayed up all night in my room, despite my attempts to fall asleep.

The next morning, I approached the front desk and spoke to a male assistant manager (didn't get name). I showed him the attached pictures and asked if I would be compensated for my stay in any way. The manager proceeded to tell me that it was "just water". The funny part is I asked him if he would drink this "water", to which he responded "no". I was then instructed to email [gmqualityhotelrichmond@gmail.com] with information on my disappointing stay and request a refund. It has been almost a month now and I have not received any response or apology for my stay. Incredibly poor management.

Very very bad experience and lord only knows the detriment on my health that staying one night in this hotel did to me. I may chose to pursue legal action. Save yourself and DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

The manager of the hotel was terrible by not responding to my question and no answer. This hotel wants to take only money from guests and regarding the questions of guests, just ignore it. I want to say to all guests "DO NOT come to this hotel".
