Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
River Rock Casino Resort offers a range of amenities that some guests find satisfactory, including transit access and dining options, although others mention the services could be improved and the decor feels outdated. The value proposition of the hotel is questioned by many travelers, who cite hidden fees and overpriced services. While the cleanliness of the accommodations receives mixed reviews, a number of guests report unclean rooms with issues such as mold. The rooms are often described as in need of an update and some guests have experienced problems with water pressure and noise.
The hotel's location is convenient for transit access, but has been criticized for a lack of nearby attractions and its peripheral location. Service quality appears to be inconsistent, with some guests encountering excellent staff, while others face rudeness and unprofessionalism. In terms of atmosphere, the hotel is generally considered comfortable, despite some dated areas.

Detailed Reviews
Our one bedroom suite in the executive tower was great! The room was clean, with a comfortable bed, large room and sitting area, and everything was well maintained too. Parking was free, which saves you a lot of money compared to the hotels in Vancouver that charge you over $50 per day. We slept great, and didn’t hear any noise at all. I love this location because the sky train is right there, which gives you easy access to the airport, malls and downtown Vancouver without driving or having to find parking in busy Vancouver. The staff were also all pleasant and friendly. The only annoyance was the one-ply crinkly toilet paper which was comparable to wrapping paper in our room. Maybe this is a temporary cost savings measure? We will definitely come back regardless. At the moment, only the food court & Starbucks are open for food during the week. The restaurants are open on weekends.

Rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. Bed was super comfortable, that was a huge plus as I appreciated the firmness of the mattress. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the conference centre did a great job of looking after my food allergies so I felt safe that I could eat what they told me was OK for me.

The River Rock Hotel was a bit disappointing right off the gate as it is one of the few hotels that does not provide a shuttle to the hotel from the airport. You have to take the sky train, which is fine in the summer months but we were there in a snow storm when even the sky train was not running properly. The lobby is undergoing renovations as supplies were laying everywhere and Christmas decorations were still up (Jan 17th). There are two hotel blocks and ours was the farthest away and a bit of an obstacle to get there. The room was clean and nice. The reception was very friendly but she went through a number things we needed to do when we got to the room. It was midnight when we got there so this info (although very helpful) was hard to retain this late at night. The value of our stay just wasn’t there.

We were really looking forward to our stay but a few glaring set backs really makes me question if I would go back.
The room was dirty, dusty tables, what I assume is blood on the shower curtain, dirty grout in the shower, dust bunnies hanging from the air vents, dirty light in the shower.
Then at 11:30 pm the fire alarm went off, I don't blame the hotel, but no one bothered to explain anything. After standing outside and in the lobby for nearly an hour we were allowed back, but one of the elevators wasn't working. The next day while using the other elevator the door would not open after reaching the lobby, after pushing the open door button a few times it finally opened. Concerned that this might be an issue that would get worse, we told the clerk in the lobby, who literally could not have cared any less. Just a response of hmmm ok.
Other issues were the pool which can only be accessed via the main building lower lobby but doesn't have any towels so you have to walk soaking wet through the grand entrance, as there's never any towels. There is a sign saying to call the front desk if there are no towels, but there is no phone to do so... Despite signs saying not to use room towels, just take a room towel, everyone there was.
The room service menu prices are subject to fine print charges which seemed deceptive. + $4.00 + 15% on top of every item why not just print the actual price?
Also disappointing was that Sea Harbour Seafood restaurant attached to the hotel serves shark fin dishes which is very surprising as I thought this was banned in Canada, after checking online we found out that the restaurant is listed by the Animal welfare institute for this reason. I am not sure if this restaurant is owned or partnered with the hotel, but it is inside the River Rock Resort Hotel building directly behind the check in on the lobby floor so I feel the resort bears some responsibility.
Overall, Richmond is a great area, there were good connections to transit, but keep in mind that this resort has two hotels, the River Rock Resort and Casino, and the "Hotel at River Rock" which is across the street. I can only assume that The Hotel at River Rock is clearly a second tier expansion to the original resort and just does not get the same care and prioritisation, as it did not live up to our expectations or the advertisements posted about being Western Canada's only 4 diamond resort.

If you follow me, went up for a 24 hr gambling get away. I like this property because it is dog friendly. $35 per dog a little steep, I paid because I want my little guy with me. Check-in went very nicely. Rooms are so spacious and very nice. Beds are extremely comfortable. Four pillows to a bed, wonderful. Bathroom done in all tile and the tub is deep so you can lean back and just relax. Very nice. The property has a sky way to get over to the casino. I really did enjoy our stay. Please enjoy yours!

Had probably the worst check in experience of my life with Hana at the casino side check in. If you see her working, just go to a different line, you’ll thank me in advance.
She was really rude, had zero customer service skills or flair, and she demanded that we pay an upgrade fee despite being I Prefer members and frequently staying at the hotel and paying for the highest rate from our travel agent.
I asked her to speak with a manager and she pretended to make a phone call on the other side of the desk and didn’t say a single word before coming back and claiming there was nothing she could do to follow the simple terms and conditions.
I spoke with management afterwards and they said they didn’t know what happened, but would only refund 2 nights of the upgrade fee.
I hope getting the extra $30 is worth the bad review. I expected better. Even I Prefer told me that the upgrade should be free if it’s available.

Though I didn't stay in the hotel on the last visit to the River rock casino, I did take in some fun on the casino floor playing the slots. As normal the staff at the door are very courteous and they are very educated in regards their position of security. the new I.D at the entrance is good added security. I have never won a huge jackpot here unless one can consider $4500.00 a huge sum of money. To most serious gamblers I'd guess its money spent trying to get a huge jackpot but for me that is by far the largest jackpot I have hit on a slot machine. I am very unlucky at any casino I've gone to and hence don't go much anymore, as losing on a consistent basis isn't what I would call "fun". But that aside the River Rock has many slots to play with a few high roller rooms at either end and plenty of tables if that's your poison. I play roulette and occasionally blackjack and have done ok on those two games but not very often as I do enjoy playing the slots. They have the greatest staff very helpful and coffee cart is always making the rounds as well wait staff if you care for alcoholic beverages or pop. they are only operating one cashier booth with about 4 to 6 wickets open for cashing out chips, breaking bills, or exchanging vouchers for cash, though you can also use one of the many satellite money dispensers located thru out the casino to cash vouchers as well. The food court has three restaurants open that are more like fast food or they have an amazing buffet located on the second floor in the main lobby. As for location they are in a perfect spot to access from the skytrain into Richmond (Canada Line), as it stops just merely 100m from the Hotel and can be accessed thru the over street walkway or thru the parkade and stairs with easy to follow signage, and is easily access as well for handicap persons with ramps and the valet people can probably help if needed. Overall the River Rock has a little for everyone whether you want a night of gambling, staying in the hotel or relaxing by the pool, this place has it all. Unwind, relax, enjoy!

Nice King size room across the street from the Resort and Casino. Wish I was told when I called that the King suite in the Resort was just a few dollars more. Parking is free in the parkade but if your truck is taller than 6’7” you have to pay $20 to park in the outside lot. Also they have a policy that asks you don’t bring in food or beverages to your room and order off the room service menu. I’ve never heard of this before but ok. Great location with the Bridgeport skytrain right there.

You won't be disappointed staying at this hotel especially if you want to be close to the airport yet having easy access to Downtown and major cities in Greater Vancouver.
Hotel itself is located only 3 skytrain stops away from YVR International Airport. A big outlet mall is only one train stop away from the hotel. With lots of nice restaurants and shopping malls in and around the area. If you enjoy gambling, the hotel offers a good sized casino which has a lot of table games and slot machines to choose from. If you're hungry after gambling for a while, there's a food court inside which serves Chinese and Western; and surprisingly the food quality was pretty good considered it's food from the food court.
When it comes to the room itself, beds are pretty comfortable and the bathroom was nice and clean; however, it lacks of a clock and USB ports for charging your phone or laptop when needed. So get your own charger. All in all, it's a nice hotel and staff were all friendly and helpful during our stay there.
One drawback is they don't have hotel shuttle to.tje airport. But since the hotel is attached to the skytrain station, it really isn't so bad not having the hotel shuttle. FYI, the time I write this review, the cost of skytrain from the hotel to the airport is CAD 7.50.
I would recommend anyone wanting to stay at an upscale hotel with a not so high price.

Have been staying at the River Rock hotel and resort since it first opened. Literally dozens of times with friends and family or just the two of us for a quick get away. Originally, and for several years it was great! Nice rooms with great beds. There was Lulu's lounge that was situated in the Casino. It was a fun and great place to get a drink or a bite to eat and on weekends it was hopping with live music. For a more fine dining experience there was Tamonto's and if you wanted something more casual there was a food fair and a great buffet that was open for breakfast lunch and dinner. Now the rooms are tired and in dire need of redecorating, there is no more lulus lounge, only a small bar with a very long line up to get drinks. No more live bands. No more fine dining restaurant and the buffet is rarely open. We decided to go into curves restaurant which is situated behind the check in desk in the main lobby. It was busy since there was no where else to go besides the food fair for dinner. Menu and service were terrible as was the food. We ordered our tenderloin dinner with mashed potatoes and a glass of wine. The wine came quite quickly but after waiting an hour for our 2 $39 steak dinners, we were informed that they had run out of mashed potatoes. That was fine we subbed that but it was another 30 minutes until we received our very overcooked steak dinners. The server apologized and said she would get that corrected. We ate the fries and the withered asparagus while we waited another 20 minutes for our new steak that was cooked to our requested medium rare. Unfortunately however, it was not a tenderloin that we had ordered, but a cheap sirloin that was unchewable!!. At this point we had been there for 2 hours!!!!! So we just gave up and paid for our wine and left hungry. On our way home the next day we stopped in at the new Marriott hotel and cascade casino in Delta. Wow! I think we will stay there next time.

That depends on where you are coming from but there are lots of outlets!
Amtrak I think takes you the heart of Vancouver. There is a sky train station within view of the train station but easiest way to deal with train only would be to take the sky train to waterfront station and then transfer to the Canada line station. That train wil take you directly to river rock as you get off at Bridgeport station.
Hardest part likely likely the transfer at waterfront as you have to get off go up the escalator to the main part of waterfront station and then take a right through the turnstiles and then right again to take the stairs down to Canada line. At that time of night it should be all one zone as well
Sorry I went there to watch a concert plus I do not gamble
