We made a 14 nights booking at the Cedar Hill B&B at the last minute at a good price, on arrival we were very disappointed with our small room (King Bed) not clean had not seen a vacuum for a long time and no ware to put our things only a closet to hang our coats, the bathroom was not clean also and very run down, there was 3 pieces of old hard soap in the shower.

Our first night we were kept awake all night by some one walking about in the room over us, so at 8.30am we arrived for breakfast and were greeted by the owner (Jean) HO there you are! As if we had broken some rule, we did say the night before that we would not be up early. She asked if we slept OK we asked if someone is staying over us as we were kept awake all night by some one walking about in the room , she said that's our room and I have to get up every hour or so! She replied that she could move to another room to sleep, but we could see she was not pleased.

The breakfast was as we had asked for as we do not have a large breakfast, toast & jam with tea & coffee and maybe some cereal, the rooms were all very lived in the owner said she had been running the B&B for 25 years and it was the best B&B in North Vancouver, well as B&B owners from 2000 to 2008 our self's in the Niagara Falls region, Canada. And traveling around the world staying in many B&B's we know what a 2, 3, 4 & 5 star B&B looks like, This B&B would not be rated at all except 0.

We found Cedar Hill on BBcanada.com website that we have always trusted, there were little or no information but the photos were nice, they must have been taken 25 years ago,
The Cedar Hill B&B is located on a steep 80 feet hillside and is not for any person who has problems walking, when we told the owner she said “It’s North Vancouver what do you expect your should have know”.

On the 2nd day we started to look for some other place to stay, but in July in North Vancouver this can be very hard to do, on the 3rd morning at the breakfast table the owner said she was a member of the Vancouver North Shore B&B Association, and there rules are you must pay one week down payment, as we had not found a place yet we gave her the full one week payment in cash but letting her know that due to the steep hill and my bad back we were checking to find somewhere else not on a hill’ She seemed OK with that and said do not go to any Motels as they all have flees.

After we had returned to our room to get ready to go out there was a knock at our door, it was the owner and she was mad and very rude saying “you have broken the contract I need this room I want you to pack up your things and move into the Queen bedroom NOW as I have some one arriving soon for this room” I said we have paid for the full week in this room, YOU BROKE THE CONTRACT see said, we could see it was no use arguing with her so we packed up all our thing and moved into the smaller Queen bedroom, you had to pass buy a common TV area to get to our bathroom which was also the laundry room, I commented that there was no privacy for the bedroom to the bathroom, she rudely said “HOW MUCH PRIVACY DO YOU NEED”

After our friends heard about our misfortunes they came over right away and moved us out to there home, giving us there own king bedroom saying that’s what friends are for, they saved the rest of our vacation to Vancouver making the nightmare of Cedar Hill B&B just a bad memory.

My husband and I arrived with my parents (in their 70's) and four children under 7, to find the B&B owner had booked us into the wrong rooms for the wrong dates, the beds were not made and the bathrooms were not cleaned ready. While I stood there trying to compute if we could make the rooms now being offered work for our group, she pipes up "Listen lady, I've not made a mistake in 30 years, take it or leave it!" Did not believe we could have a successful or enjoyable stay here, so we found somewhere else to stay.
