Getting there
Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Found a great deal on an app and booked this, was very surprised to have a balcony overlooking the harbor, which was a great view, even with the storm coming through. Would not have stayed at regular price for sure. Breakfast credit was nice, got a pretty decent omelet. Area is very nice to walk around the next morning.
Biggest issue we had were the repeated interruptions through the night. 3 times we had people knocking on our door thinking their friend was still in the room because they had stayed there the night before. Then there was the party that occurred in nearby rooms at 3AM, we had to call the front desk but that didn't shut it down.

My wife and I stayed here on the night of the 14th. Quaint place! There are retail stores on the 2nd floor and eateries on the first. The hotel occupies the 3rd and 4th floors. Our room had a view of the water but not facing Vancouver downtown. It had a view of the shipyard but you could lean over from the window and see downtown. Pretty clean room for a reasonable price in North Van. A mere $96 plus taxes and fees when other water front properties are in the $250 plus range! Our Queen room had two Queen beds and was equipped with a TV, coffee machine and a mini fridge; no microwave though! One of the beds was quite squeaky and the AC unit was loud. The shower in the bathtub was great with good water pressure and hot water! Other than that a great stay and highly recommend for a quick weekend getaway at such a reasonable price in Metro Vancouver!
And yes, masks were not mandatory although they have taken all the necessary precautions with plexi glass at the reception and doing deep cleans for each room. There is a $10 fee for Covid deep clean as well. See attached a copy of the bill with the breakdowns.

Great location on the waterfront right by the water bus. We found it a great place to explore down town from. Easy to get to down town but you can retreat back here for a quieter evening. Hotel is on the third floor of a building that holds a bunch of smaller shops and kiosks - kind of like an indoor market. Larger area has lots of nice shops and restaurants as well.
Hotel wants to be posh but it's not. It's OK but is getting dated and showing wear. Frankly the hotel is over priced with it's location being it's saving grace in my opinion.
There is a small restaurant and pricey, but you are better off exploring the surrounding area for interesting places to eat.

A friend suggested North Vancouver as a great place to stay instead of the city. So I looked around and found the Lonsdale Quay Hotel. What can I say! It’s perfect. Situated above the vibrant Lonsdale Market and with views over the river and Vancouver the hotel is a delight. Lovely large room with all the right facilities including proper china cups for our tea (so many hotels provide paper cups these days) which was a big thumbs up. Not only is the hotel comfortable with a decent breakfast, it’s also incredibly close to all the transport links. The Sea Bus is literally five mins walk away and that takes you into the city in 15mins. The buses are opposite the Sea Bus with amazing links everywhere including Grouse Mountain - it cost us less than $6 CAD to get there and back.
I can’t recommend Lonsdale highly enough. It’s a vibrant, safe community and the Lonsdale Quay Hotel is right in its heart…

This is our second stay in last two years. Last year we were like yay this is a nice location with the market and sea bus close by. Then the toilet started to plugged up, not much toilet paper just for some reason the water is not going down as fast. Was able to unplugged it my self with a plunger I borrowed at the front reception. Even that, the water is still not going as fast as regular toilet flush. Fast forward to date. We got in and took a toilet break and voila the toilet plugged up again on first flush ( this is on a different room). I went to the front and complain and borrowed a plunger again and the I mention our passed experience. The front reception said, "It never happen before". I was like ok whatever. Managed to unplugged it and the next day my son was in the washroom and yup this time the toilet overflowed. Good thing there wasn't any poop and he just took a pee. I complained again and yes the front reception said " Oh it never happened before" this is from a different guy/gal. Then I saw the cleaning staff and I had a chat with one of them, he/she told me it happens a lot since the building is old and have a sewer problem. So if you need a practice of unplugging toilet here is your chance. I think this is the last time we are staying here until they do something with the sewer. My kids have a new name for the hotel. They call it the Cloggdale Quay Hotel.

This is a great spot if you're looking for a place with views and things to do without being in the centre of busy downtown. It's primary perk, however, is it's proximity to the seabus which takes you directly to downtown Waterfront Station within 15 mins and connects you with both the Expo and Canada line trains. The rooms are clean and of a decent size, beds are comfortable, and linens are soft. The building itself is a bit older and the room decor could use a small upgrade. Rooms also have air-conditioning and lamanent (wood textured) floors. The restaurant, which is only accessible to guests, offers some good dishes and decent beers. It also has a view of the harbour and the city skyline. Staff are friendly and professional. Places to check out while in the area are the many breweries along Esplanade and 1st Street East, Spirit Trail through to Mosquito Creek Marina, the Shipyards Pier, shops, and restaurants, and the Quay Market located within the same building as the hotel.

Our stay was disrupted by the construction and development works going on to the marina and areas outside of the hotel. This was steel works and construction directly connecting to the hotel from 7.30 am to 5PM. We were not told about this at time of booking or when we checked in (late arrival) we found out by a letter in the room. The hotel did not acknowledge the issue or offer any help and refused to let us change hotels. On the positive side the rooms are large and the beds comfortable but to describe them as ocean view is a misleading description. The view is of the marina bay and the harbour, not the ocean! The household staff are great and the rooms were cleaned every day. The front of house staff spoke very little English. The location is central to downtown and the bus station so was great for us getting about. Located above an indoor market( which is also under refurbishment) is good as there are many food and store outlets.

Dear Patron, Greetings from the Lonsdale Quay Hotel Thank you so much for choosing our hotel and taking the time to leave us a very candid review of your recent stay with us. Your feedback and comments are extremely valuable and important to us. Please accept our sincere apologies for the shortcomings faced with your stay, specifically in regards to the construction/renovation activity conducted by the Lonsdale Quay Market. This is a very convenient hotel location to the waterfront with restaurants and the Lonsdale Quay Market right at your door! The front desk staff is exceptionally helpful, especially Shawn. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. Although this is a small hotel without the amenities of larger ones, it does have shops and restaurants literally right on your doorstep. The hotel restaurant is open now only for breakfast but the chef does a wonderful job - especially with the kids' meals.

Average hotel, average rooms, good location. Won’t comment on cleanliness, but a large rat ran across the pipe above our table while we were eating in the hotel dining room. My wife was not happy. She pointed it out to our server, who glanced up, then shrugged. She had clearly seen that before. We mentioned it again at checkout, where it again inspired minimal interest. There was live music on the wharf next door, late into the evening, very audible inside our room. Note also when you check in, in addition to the large deposit due on arrival, there is an immediate $250 “security fee,” another first for us. It was refunded eventually . . .

Great service at the front desk: very prompt, courteous and friendly. Thank you.
Loved being at the Quay. It's an older hotel and needs updating, but I would stay here again. Parking is $20 but we parked at my parents' place a few blocks away.
I know that businesses are suffering during COVID-19, so I don't want to be discouraging. I will only say this: It is ridiculous to be charging a COVID-19 cleaning surcharge on top of all the "resort" and other extra fees and taxes when the rooms are not clean. We moved to a different room due to a noise issue, and both rooms were visibly unclean. I would not be mentioning this in my review except that I had to dispute this extra charge, which did not appear in my original booking charge.
