We stayed one rainy night at Thistledown House while visiting the Canyon Lights at Capilano Park. Short walk to the park was SO convenient. This inn is fantastic. Our host was very welcoming and helpful. The house itself is BEAUTIFUL and perfectly restored. We were in their smallest room but it was perfect with the fireplace and lovely decor. Sweet and cozy. I wish we could have stayed longer. We had to leave early so did not register for breakfast but the table was setting was pretty and traditional. Highly recommend staying here,
A very charming bed and breakfast with 6 bedrooms in North Vancouver, away from the crowds and located approx. 200 meters from the Capilano Suspension Bridge. There is a busstop close by. The hosts are very welcoming and make you feel right at home. On late arrival, a welcoming letter is placed at the door and you can enter the main door with a code. We stayed in Mulberry Peek, a room with a queensize bed, a bathroom with toilet and shower, a television and a rooftop balcony. There is complimentary soap, shampoo, conditioner and q-tips. A hairdryer is also available. The room is spacious, charming and comfortable. The house has WiFi and there is also a small library where guests leave books for other guests to read. You can make use of the computer in there, as well as the guest phone. The livingroom is for all guests to be used and has a relaxing feel. There is complimentary coffee, tea, soda's and water. There is even complimentary sherry, scotch and port available. For a charge, you can have beer and / or wine. The garden is a dream. It's such a nice area, that really makes you forget you are actually in a big city. The herbs in the garden are used in your breakfast. There are plenty of parking spaces and we were on check out allowed to leave our car in the parking spot to visit the Capilano bridge. We were also invited to come back in after our visit to freshen up and have a drink. Such an amazing hospitality. The 3-course-breakfast is exquisite. Don't expect any regular bread, cheese, ham or eggs kind of breakfast. Having breakfast with the other guests is quite a nice experience to have a chat and share holiday stories and tips. Upon leaving, our hosts presented us a lovely goodbye chocolate (Godiva). Is there a better way to say goodbye?…
We stayed in a fabulous room under the apple tree, no issues there. However I must say I was slightly disappointed this time, as we were given the same fruit crumble for breakfast two times in the four days we staying there. We stayed two years ago, in the same room. We were blown away by the exceptional treatment from Brian. However, this time we hardly saw him, and although the intern was lovely, she lacked the social skills that Brian has. She never told the guests that there were breads and jams on the table to eat, we had to tell them as they were covered up and the guests would never have known. The fruit crumble for breakfast was very heavy, it stayed with me all day. So I just put it behind me as I thought well there’s something new every day, so I know I won’t have it again. On our last morning there...we were served fruit crumble again. I really was disappointed and felt let down, it isn’t cheap to stay here, and the breakfast was a big part of us coming back. The guests from around the world on the table made it for us this year. But I did miss Brian and felt he’d handed a lot over to the new intern. I’m unsure as to whether I’d stay again, but that’s only me judging it against our first time. If you’ve not stayed here before, I recommend it.…
My wife and I stayed at The Snuggery on Sept 7, 2019. We were warmly greeted by Brian and he showed us the amenities. The home is gorgeous - a great common room, and wonderful garden to relax in. The bed was comfortable, and in the morning a lovely gourmet breakfast with other guests. Highly recommend!
What an absolutely fabulous place! The house is beautiful and very well maintained, you can tell much love and care goes into the upkeep. An adorable private backyard for relaxing. Such a welcoming B&B and probably one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to stay at. The breakfast is just divine. Beyond delicious and creative. I hope I can visit this place again. Lovely!!
We stayed at this quaint B and B and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hosts are super helpful and friendly. The rooms are really nice and clean, beds super comfy. The shower has lots of hot water and pressure. There is tea, coffee, water and soft drinks provided free of charge. Wifi is available also. The property is situated on the main road but is really quiet inside. There is a great garden to sit in and enjoyed the serenity. Breakfast was great also. Although we were charged abit more than quoted I would def recommend staying here.
Truly one of the finest B&B’s we have had the opportunity to visit. The amenities are amazing. We were on the ground floor with access to a private deck and garden. By a path we visited a beautiful opening with birds and squirrels. Breakfast was delicious. Trout and many niceties.
There are things that can’t be seen, they must be felt. The rooms looked and felt like you would imagine them from looking at the brochure. The living areas had a zen like feel with soft background music. Brian, with his humor and incredible hospitality; Virginia, with her delicious gourmet cooking; and Permitheus, with his precious cuteness and friendlyliness, made this place come alive and become a home away from home. Amazingly beautiful!
Got a minute? Let me tell you about this charming Bed and Breakfast on N shore. It’s just across from the Capilano Suspension Tourist Trap but don’t let that cloud your judgement. Before I start grab a complimentary port or scotch or sherry. Then let’s take a tour. Ok. It will be short tour. They just have a few rooms. But first well stop at the little side kitchen where you can help yourself to coffee, tea, soda and water. For a charge they also have wine and beer available. This is also where you hang your key when you leave the house so they know who is here. We got the Under the Apple Tree Room which was spacious and nicely decorated. It even had its own private yard. Also has gas fireplace, jacuzzi style tub and stand up shower. The heated bathroom floor was a nice touch. If you get tired of your room you can also enjoy sitting outside on a deck or the living room. We really enjoyed relaxing on the couch back in our room in front of the fire place. Morning came a bit too soon. Was hard to get up out of the super comfortable down blankets on the King bed. The breakfast was ready though and included three delicious courses. Polenta with almonds, banana kirsch, and smoked salmon with poached egg on toasted croissant. Yum. Virginia’s breakfast was all the better by Brian’s entertaining stories of 5 years in the service business now. …
An absolutely fantastic place to stay! The location is perfect if interested in the Capilano Suspension Bridge, the Capilano River and Grouse Mountain. We stayed in the Snuggery and it was very cozy and clean. The hosts were very welcoming and extremely accommodating to arrival time and food preferences. Being a vegan and vegetarian couple proved no difficulty for breakfast. The food was wonderful and the experience delightful! The hosts are very kind and friendly. We would 100% come back and stay here.
