Our long weekend at InnPenzance was way beyond expectation: Hosts Evan and Ron helped helped us arrange our wedding, allowing us to use their exquisite garden, putting us in touch with a wonderful marriage commissioner, and providing a sumptuous wedding breakfast for our guests. The accomodations were great (we had a cottage at the back of the garden with a hammock and our own patio where we could luxuriate with their sherry in the evening), and the daily breakfasts deliciously ample without being WAY more food than anyone should eat. Their inn is in a congenial neighborhood, with an extensive park for walking and interesting low-key shopping (including an excellent independent bookstore). As hosts Ron and Evan were charming, welcoming and always gracious.

The formerly cosy end-of British Raj era Laburnam Cottage B&B has been transformed. On a recent visit I was delighted to see how a thoughtful renovation has allowed light and beautiful vistas of the garden in while a keen and astute sense of design allows spaces inside to open up and flow inside and out ..warm colours, beautiful art and decor make this a special place to stay ...add to this excellent food and delightful hosts..it makes for a combo hard to beat ..from a handy location to visit family in North Vancouver ..this has become for me a destination choice in its own right ..I can't wait to get back!

We have stayed in numerous B&B's and have never before come across such a gem! From the moment we drove into the lush courtyard and did the tour with Ron, we knew we had found something special. In town for a family wedding, our family took over the whole place for four nights, and became totally spoiled. Ron's knack of being there with fresh-baked goodies precisely when needed was much appreciated, as were the fresh, original breakfasts, including an omelet with goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes that was to die for! It is a gifted host who manages to be simultaneously attentive and discreet. No detail was overlooked, from the original room designs to the sherry to the sumptuously comfortable beds. If not the food or the ambiance, then the gardens are the highlight, and it's worth allowing some extra time simply to enjoy their quiet beauty. This B&B is definitely not just a simple stopover on the way to somewhere else - it is a destination in itself. We shall certainly return.

After researching the net thoroughly I decided to move away from booking a conventional chain hotel in the city and came accross The Village of Penzance! WOW what a beatifull place. Amazing gardens, impeccibally clean and luxuriously themed suite's. I booked the New Orleans suite ( the largest suite they have ) for 10 nights for me and my princess when visiting Vancouver to honur my duties as Best Man for my brothers wedding. The suite was lovely and large ( far too big for us as it would easily sleep 4 ) with a kitchen area and alfresco dining.
May I say Ron's cullinery abilities are somewhat rather excuisite with the delicious 3 course a la carte breakfast with a healthy twist ( would usually cost a fortune elswhere and only be available at only the very best of hotels ).
So all in all a very pleasent stay and we will be seeing you again soon Ron.
