Detailed Reviews
Our recent stay at the Toronto Marriott Markham was easily one of the best hotel stays we've had, and we've done quite a bit of travelling. We spent 4 nights at the property attending a funeral for a close relative. When I notified the staff of our reason for coming, they really exhibited a level of customer service that was refreshing. We received a condolence card signed by the team, they provided a few cards towards shared appetizers in their Draco restaurant, and they even sent up a nice fruit plate to the room. They also lowered the nightly parking cost for us. Since I always forget staff names, I have to shout out Ami who was working at the front desk. She was the nicest most pleasant person we've encountered during our travels. Most importantly, when she greeted our family when we returned to the property, it actually seemed genuine. I hope this property knows what they have with her and doesn't allow her to escape :)
The property itself was wonderful. Still fairly new and in an area that still under development. There is an adjacent parking garage. Parking is normally $20 CAD per night. You just need to keep the card the machine provides you on your first entrance as you'll need to feed that same card into the machine as you come and go. Remember to capture a shot of your license plate when you arrive to provide to the hotel staff. Parking is pretty smooth. Parking for the hotel is on level 3, 4 or 5. Unfortunately, the parking garage isn't connected directly to the hotel, so you'll have to grab the elevator down to the G level and walk across to the property while trying no to freeze to death.
The room was well lit and spacious. For the frequent travelers out there, there are plenty of outlets all over the place and water pressure is solid. We stayed on the M Club (4th) floor. The M Club lounge came in very handy on a few morning for breakfast. They had a decent spread of meats, fruits, toast, juices, coffee and tea. We also stopped in a few times to grab some bottles of water for the room. My wife visited the gym which she said was incredibly spacious. We did not use the pool during our stay. When you have a hotel stay this good, you just HOPE that once the local area is fully developed and the influx begins, they're able to maintain the level of service they displayed. When in Toronto again, I would stay here in a heartbeat. Marriott has a gem with this one. Phenomenal stay, property and people.

We have stayed here a few times, most recently for two nights over the August long weekend. Were told on check in that they were quite busy, but there did not seem to be many people around. There is no breakfast at all and only a limited dinner 4 days a week. The dinner menu is not available anywhere other that a QR code at the front desk. All of the paper, pens and local info has been removed from the rooms so there is no information on what might be available for meals. We used Skip and Uber to get meals. There is no room service or housekeeping service. The paid parking lot is across the lane from the hotel and is shared by shoppers and a condo above the lot. It is actually quite dangerous as many of the condo owners race through the lot in their entitled brands of cars. All in all, there is very little appealing about this hotel at this time as it's pretty basic, so you might as well save some money and stay at a Courtyard or Holiday Inn Express and get the free parking and near by amenities.
There was a requirement for masks while in public areas. There was no Covid screening at check in.

simeon - thank you for taking time to provide feedback on our hotel. COVID - 19 has presented unique challenges for the lodging industry. Marriott International has created our Commitment to Clean program and we have worked to reduce any touch points for our guests. Removal of menus, pens, papers and other collateral has been done to ensure the safety of our guests. We hope to welcome you back again soon, when we can offer the services we are proud to be known for.

I hope I can love this hotel because this might be the only new luxury hotel around the area. However, the hotel management needs to work harder.
I booked two 2 queens beds rooms. The reservation was made back in June and couple days before our departure, I contacted the hotel to see if they can arrange connecting rooms for us. The response said that they would try to set us as closer as possible. During our checking in at 4:00pm, I made the same request again and the “best” the front desk could do is Room 435 and 447. Okay I take it as it is without saying a word. But on that night when we returned from dinner, we saw guests dragging luggage checking into 433! I was like, what the heck! Why could they not accommodate us to 433 so that we could be with each other? Not to mention why their room assignment system is so weird and meant to separate the group booking, I think there might be something staff can do to accommodate but they chose not to which is disappointing.
Currently under Covid, the pool needs to limit capacity which is completely understood. Guests need to make reservation for their pool time and pick up special keycard for the pool at the appointment time. There was time I asked the front desk if I can get the key like 15 minutes prior to my appointment as I happened to be at the lobby and try to save time for not making another trip to go down to the lobby and up to the pool on 3rd floor in 15 mins with two kids. The front desk said she did not have extra keys without even checking. Also, picking up and dropping off keys are quite hassle. They should either have a key drop off box right outside the pool/gym or have key dropped to the guest room for guests having reservation. The hotel should think more in terms of making things easier for the guests, not making things easier for your staff.
The hotel has great facilities and the room is very clean and spacious. If the service issue can be enhanced further more, it will be a wonderful hotel.

We usually stay at Hampton inn Markham for our visits to Toronto north, but decided to try out this newest hotel in town (Markham) this time. This turned out to be the worst hotel choice we've ever made. Despite the highest rate we paid for being in the M-club session, there is NOTHING special about the room nor the service. Not only that, parking at the multiple level complex across the hotel (with no direct connection to the hotel) is extra, and wifi costs an extra $5.95 per night for non mariott members. It's difficult to understand the rationale for this charge given that wifi has become such a commodity nowadays, not only in North America but even in Carribean all inclusive resorts. People can even access wifi for free at McDonald's without being a customer. But, for $250 a night at this deserted part of Toronto suburbs amidst unusually low demand due to Covid19, when every hotel have to lower their prices to attract stay-cationers, this extra charge for wifi seems rather out of the place.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

We waited in line for 20 minutes to check into our room. There was one lady manning the concierge desk. Once we finally got our room, we see that the room was not cleaned. What happened to the COVID-19 protocol that was promised? When we returned to the front desk to ask about the room, the lady snapped at us that she had to attend to other patrons that refilled the lobby line, and told us 'we only have one housekeeping person working'. Kudos to the one lady for handling this many customers, but is this acceptable at all? If the hotel cannot accommodate as many patrons as it's allowing us to book, it should not be allowing this many bookings. Not to mention, I stood in the line for another 25 minutes to talk to the concierge again to get another room.
This is deceptive advertising at best, and blatant disregard for public safety in sole favour of financial gain at worst.

I am a half way through my 2 weeks stay here and I am appalled by the service level so far.
The front desk personnel are friendly and very polite (everyone here is) and are very pleasant to interact with. Then they look into your eyes with a smile and lie to you over and over. Or a kinder interpretation of their actions may be that they are just so unorganized and untrained that they have absolutely no idea what they are doing.
When I checked in, my room was very dusty and the floor did not seem to have been vacuumed. I requested to have the room cleaned but my request was too late to be followed though the following day so I had to wait 2 days to see the room cleaned. I was told that the cleaning schedule was assigned the evening before and the cut off time was quite early in the evening.
On Tuesday night, I requested the room cleaned every other day as room cleaning was only done on request, I was told. And I missed the cut off time so I would not get my room cleaned on Wednesday but I was assured that they would clean my room and get me fresh towels on Thursday. So Thursday evening, last night, I came back to see my room not cleaned. No fresh towels. Unbelievable. So I went down to the front desk to politely complain. The front desk person didn’t apologize but assured me, guaranteed me, that it was going to be cleaned the following day. I asked him if he was certain and he told me that it was already scheduled to be cleaned.
Fast forward to tonight - I just returned to my room after a long day and guess what? The room was not cleaned!!! I went down to the front desk and spoke with an assistant manager, Josh. I understand that Rogers internet was down all day and that made everyone’s life difficult and I sympathize but wow. You pay 300+ CAD/night and get ONE room cleaning per week?? What? A youth hostel provides a better service. Shame on you Marriott!
I am curious to see if my room will get cleaned tomorrow. At this point I will be rather surprised if it happens. I am seriously contemplating moving to another hotel for the next 7 nights… I will post an updated review when I checkout in one week or in one day. Stay tuned.

First off I never write reviews but feel compelled to because of how poorly run this hotel is.
This hotel is modern overall and appears to be newer, however, upon arriving at our room my husband found a condom wrapper in between the sofa cushions as he was about to pull out the sofa bed. In addition, the hotel for the life of them didn't have enough blankets for my children. We called 2 nights in a row and gave up by the last 2 nights. They just kept giving us sheets to use as blankets, I'm not sure I understand how a hotel can run out of blankets.
Also, beware, they don't offer room cleaning everyday, it is something you have to request which we were not told the night we checked in. I understand everywhere is understaffed but my point being is they never even offered the service to us to begin with. Upon asking for the service the next morning, they told us the schedule would not allow for us to be included that day. Mind you, at that point they still did not mention you had to request it for every day of your stay. We then checked in again the following day, they finally mentioned you are suppose to request it for each day. Even after asking for it (we had 2 rooms) the other room did not get the service.
One other nuance is my mother had to call 3 times before they understood we had wanted to extend our stay for one night (at the frontend). Upon check in we triple confirmed we would not have to switch rooms the following day to which they said we wouldn't need to move however they deactivated our room key card because the system "checked us out" for the one night. We then had to re check in and go through all the paperwork and card submission once again. It was such a nightmare from the beginning, although the hotel is in a pretty convenient location beware of all these nuances. I am not sure I will stay here again, besides convenient location, everything else was a nightmare.

This hotel was fine, but I've certainly stayed in nicer ones. The staff was friendly and fairly attentive, but the rooms left a little to be desired. Our room was supposed to have a king bed, but the bed was most certainly a queen. That aside, it was decently comfortable. The room was not fully cleaned when we arrived - several areas had noticeable dust, the table was covered in red spots/stains, and there were long hairs on the shampoo and soap bottles in the shower. The shower door also doesn't seal fully or have a handle on the inside, so it spills water onto the floor; I foresee this being a long-term problem for the hotel.
Wifi is not free and costs an extra $5+ per person.
The hotel is in a convenient location and has walkable entertainment, restaurants, etc.

Dead area full of construction. Hotel restaurant and most amenities closed, pool accessible by reservation only and you can only enjoy it for 1h. No room service to clean up, make your bed or change the used towels whatsoever. I had to call them 3 times to get toilet paper and towels, what the hell is that? I don’t need this stress when I’m on vacation. What’s the point to go to a hotel if you need to do everything yourself just like home? Pretty bad service and amenities overall. I think they are just hiding behind COVID19 to save money! Seems like it’s the golden justification for any business to cover up on their crappy service and cost cutting measure. Won’t stay here ever again. This is supposed to be a 4 star Marriot hotel, not the Day inn!

Exceptional service, new rooms, delicious food. I have stayed at this hotel multiple times, and every time the team exceeds my expectations. Even during a Pandemic this team has been super accommodating to make me feel comfortable and welcome even with limited services due to Covid. Precovid/post Covid this property has a great onsite restaurant, gym and meeting space which are very nice. This the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at.
Thank you to Hiren, Chris (and front desk team), Bob and Chef for an outstanding stay every time.

I believe so. The parking seems pretty open and flexible. No tickets or gate arms.
