The Walnut Beach Resort receives plaudits for its spacious and well-appointed rooms, with guests frequently noting the clean environment and comfortable beds. Despite this, there are occasional mentions of noise disturbances and calls for better maintenance. While the prime lakeside location near the beach is a highlight for many, the value proposition is questioned by some reviewers who cite high costs and underwhelming dining experiences.
The resort's service garners mixed reviews, with reports of both friendly attentiveness and less satisfactory interactions. Amenities like the pool receive mixed feedback due to accessibility and service issues.

Third time on a girls getaway to this resort. It is ideally located on the lake. Pool and beach are second to none. We always stay in a Merlot suite which is bright and spacious with an adequate deck. This year brought some disappointments in that the room is in dire need of some TLC. The door has broken off the en-suite shower, and a shower curtain has been woven around the top bar of the stall. Totally tacky, plus leaves a foot open at the bottom for water to escape. The furniture is worn, the bathroom ceilings stained and general maintenance seems to be lacking. The towels are worn to the point of being frayed. It does not appear that cleaning is done to COVID standards. The kitchen has been stripped to bare minimum, and if we requested specific items (teapot, cutting board) COVID was used as an excuse for not providing. The existing cutting board was badly stained and very worn. Of 4 wine glasses no two were the same. Val at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, other front desk staff somewhat short with responses. With no room cleaning or linen changing, dirty sheet was left outside door and not picked up for two days. Confusion on hot tub bookings, were told at check in no bookings only to be denied access because we hadn’t booked. Hot tub only open 5 hours per day. Second hot tub roped off with sign “Closed due to Covid”. Couldn’t figure out why one open and one not. We will return because we love the venue, but certainly not 4 or 5 star quality this year

Good morning 55whale, Thank you for coming back to us year over year for girls' weekend! I am delighted to see you will be back, and when you are I look forward to showing some enhancements! Flooring, furnishings, linens, etc are all in the budget works as we get back on track from the 2020 interruptions :) Thank you for your patience while we find our footing! The Hot Tubs, in-suite amenities, etc are all being fine-tuned and we are hopeful that Dr. Bonnie will relax her guidelines ahead of next season so we can fully stock our suites and deliver our usually high service standards. I hope the trip home was smooth, and we look forward to chatting again soon.

This was our 2nd time staying here over the past couple of summers with our family. The resort is in a very nice location with a private beach overlooking the lake as well as an amazing pool area.
We noticed a few minor inconveniences during our stay this year but they don’t change our opinion of the resort overall. The heated pool seemed not so heated this year, however this could have been due to the much cooler weather we got this time around. Aside from that, the restaurant was closed on Mondays and Tuesday’s plus we noticed that poolside service was quite limited since it started after 2pm on the other days when open.
One more issue we had encountered during our stay was that upon arrival, we had checked into our one bedroom lakeview suite on the ground floor (with walkout pool access), but we noticed some white sugar that was spilled around the stove area, and as a result, there were many fruit flies in the room. This issue was quickly rectified by Jeevan at the front desk who sent someone to clean it up as well as she offered us another room if we preferred, which I assume was only possible since the resort had very low occupancy at the time. In the end, we decided to move up to a room on the top floor (3rd level) directly above so we had an amazing lakeview from our suite (and the new room was much cleaner with no fruit flies in sight!)
On the plus side, we were surprised with a complimentary continental breakfast each morning included in our rate even though nothing was mentioned previously. It was very basically but gave us a solid head start each morning (I.e. banana loaf, chocolate chip cookies, yogurt, coffee, tea, etc.)
Overall, we will definitely stay here again next year assuming we can get another great deal like we did this time!

The hotel itself is very dated but well maintained. While we were there I saw workers sanitizing high touch surfaces throughout the day. All employees were very friendly and helpful. Having the small kitchen area is useful although they supply you with the bare minimum to cook anything. My family of 4 used basically everything for each meal! It was nice to have the beach area and it was not super busy unlike the pool area which was so full with very little social distancing. We enjoyed our stay although we got a great rate. Don't think I would pay the regular price to stay here especially when you consider there is no housekeeping services.

Hello JE444, Thanks for your feedback! I am thrilled to see you generally had a lot of fun! Count us of the same mind here~ We can't wait for the COVID restrictions to open up again and we can return to delivery our full array of amentities! The Housekeeping team feels so sad they can't service rooms daily, and everyone is frustrated by the inability to fully stock our kitchens :( We look forward to welcoming you back in the future, hopefully when we can showcase our full experience without any restrictions! Be well, KM

We stayed for a week in July 2021. it was our 3rd year in a row and likely our last. Upon arrival our room was filthy and filled with ants. Over the course of the week we needed ant traps and a floor clean to keep them manageable. The ants were still there when we left, just not as many. Still no housekeeping offered due to Covid I suppose. They are also short staffed with very limited menu options and drink service by the pool and beach. The staff do their best but more than 1 staff member told me they were understaffed and owners don't care which is too bad. The location is so great with a nice beach and pool so it's sad to see that they might be ruining it. Prices in summer are amongst the highest in Osoyoos per night so they really need to get back to being a 4 star resort because as of now it's not even close

We booked a “Sauvignon One Bedroom Lake View” room at the Walnut Beach Resort through Expedia to celebrate my birthday at the tail end of the Thanksgiving long weekend. We booked four different hotels for our mini vacation around BC through the Expedia site (Kamloops, Revelstoke, Invermere and Osoyoos). The other three lived up to or exceeded our expectations. This one did not.
Our “stunning view” (as promised on their website) consisted of a hedge and the back of the barbecue cabana from our first floor room, though I did get a small glimpse of the lake if I stood on my tiptoes. It most certainly did not “relax or comfort” us (again, from their website). When I asked at the front desk if there had been a mistake, I was assured that all the suites on that side were considered “lake view”. The clerk (Suhki) was quite snarky throughout this exchange and told me there weren’t any other rooms available.
Before our stay, we received a message (through Expedia) indicating that they had created a personal mobile concierge for us to use to plan our stay. In the message, they indicated that a link was provided to this service. However, no link was included in the email. I replied to their message (through the Expedia application) to ask about this and indicated it would be my birthday while we were there. We were looking for recommendations on things to do and places to eat. I received no reply.
The location was not the best – it was a fair way down a road to the south of town. There were not any restaurants or pubs within walking distance. The only restaurant available was the one in the resort, and they were only serving a full turkey dinner (as it was Thanksgiving weekend).
On checkout, Sukhi assured me that a statement for our stay would be sent by email. She didn’t bother to confirm that my email address was on file. Two days after our return, I had to email the resort to get our copy of the statement.
They also didn’t seem to completely follow the COVID protocol recommendations. There were signs throughout the property requesting the use of masks while on site in public areas. While the staff seemed to wear masks, very few guests did and staff did not enforce their rule. Luggage carts were just left in the parking garage, with signs on them to return them to the parking garage when done. There was no indication that any cleaning or sanitizing had been applied to the carts after each use. This did not give me confidence that anything in our room had been properly sanitized. (I wiped down the room with antibacterial wipes we had with us.)
On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable. And Carissa (the bartender in the lounge) was very friendly and helpful in recommending somewhere to eat that wasn’t serving only turkey. However, these two features are not enough to get me to stay there again.

We had limited cooking utensils in our room. We had bought some raw meat to cook only steak knives in the room and phoned front desk asked if there were bigger knives? FD responded no we don’t have any bigger knives just what is in the room because of COVID-19.Next morning, I observed in a housekeeping cart assorted cooking utensils not in my room such as large knives for chopping, when I asked the housekeeper if these were available , HK’r said available at front desk. This time I went to FD in person and asked if there were any kitchen knives available? I told FD that I had seen a housekeeper cart full of large knives and other kitchen utensils, FD staff responded: “those items not available because they are going into storage “. I mentioned to the FD staff “ I guess I have to go into town and buy a knife?” Minutes later a FD staff had issued me a large kitchen knife for me to use. After all that , I practically had to beg to the hotel staff 3 times for a knife??? I found the hotel staff to be very rude , dishonest and poor communication also using Covid-19 as an excuse is is bullsh@t!

Good evening IrenemC5109BT, Thank you for sharing your note. I was very disappointed to read it - I completely agree that inconsistency is very frustrating! I have shared this with my leadership team to ensure our communication is crisp and consistent. The original information you were provided is accurate though. In keeping with the government guidelines, we have removed all of the flatware, dishware, glassware, etc from the rooms that do not fit in the dishwasher. This way we can ensure that guests enter a room with sanitized everything at their disposal. I apologize for the confusion and frustration! Thank you for letting us know.

Although Covid-19 isolation started just after we arrived we felt very safe with all the extra cleaning & distancing guidelines that were put in place. The staff are very accommodating. We love the location. The swimming pool & hot tubs were closed due to Covid-19. The swimming pool was being resurfaced when we left the middle of April.

Great place to get away from everything and everyone. We stayed for 2 nights. Check in was painless. Our one bedroom suite on the third floor faced the pool and the lake. Great views. Room was spotless. King bed very comfortable. Did not eat at the restaurant but did use one of the Napoleon BBQ's the first night. Front desk took care of anything we needed, including giving us a late check out. Did not use the pool or hot tub but understand from a friend who stayed here with their family a couple of weeks before us said the temperature of the pool was 94 degrees and the hot tubs are 104 degrees. The morning we checked out I saw what housekeeping does to sanitize and clean the rooms during the pandemic. It is definitely a safe place to stay. All the hotel staff wore masks and there were sanitize stations throughout the hotel. And you are close to many of the wineries in the south Okanagan. We will definitely be back and for more than just 2 nights. No doubt sometime in late summer/early fall.

We stayed here 1 night on March 13. The girl at the front desk was very welcoming, friendly and helpful, so was the staff member at check out. The other guests were mostly happy seniors which made for a cheerful atmosphere. Our room was spacious, provided everything you need, the bed was comfortable and everything was clean.
There was also underground parking.
We had dinner at the restaurant, the server was friendly and professional and we believe the yummie food was made from scratch. There is a good choice for vegetarians too. The chef even came out to see if we liked the food, very nice of him!
We didn't use the pool because it was pretty cold and windy but we did have a quick morning workout as there is a little gym. (It closed the same morning due to covid)
The only thing we didn't like was that there was a noise during the night, not sure what it was, maybe from pipes or ventilation?
And there is cheap looking in-house printed/laminated signage about hockey sticks literally EVERYWHERE, it kind of makes you feel like this is the main concern of the hotel, rather than the guests' experience and takes away from the resort feel as they look unprofessional, more like signs in a motel.
We did however really enjoy our stay and look forward to staying here again!

My family and I stayed at Walnut Beach Resort last week (our second time here in as many years) and we were advised by other hotel guests that there is a discount available for BC residents. I spoke with the Hotel Manager, and when asked about it, he advised that there may be discounts available from time to time. The website notes a 15% discount for BC/AB residents. I asked if there would be any chance we would qualify for a discount being returning customers, and he flat out said no. I understand that hotel rates fluctuate, but to have the request shot down without hesitation, I could help but feel a bit gypped.
The hotel itself is good, and the view is fantastic. However, not all facilities were available. 1 of the 2 hot tubs running part time, sauna out of operation...yet visitors are left paying full price and resort fees. In addition, there is no cleaning of rooms daily but we are still paying full rates.
I understand COVID has a lot to do with the way the hotel is operating, but it just wasn't a great experience...
I had a blast with my family, no doubt, but the hotel experience itself was sub par. Walnut Beach was a hotel resort we were planning on making an annual trip, but now I have reaervayabout going back. We may check out Watermark Resort next year.

Hi SteveGriff1983, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! I remember our conversation well out on the pool deck. I am sorry I didn't have better news for you at the time, but as I mentioned then you are welcome to reach out to me directly when you have future dates and we can certainly keep our eyes out for any special packages or discounts that we can apply :) We do not actually charge a resort fee, but by your next visit, I'd also expect to see the last couple of amenities of ours back online as the COVID impact (hopefully!) lessens anyway. I hope everyone stays happy and healthy in the meantime, but we look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back! Be well, KM

No reservations needed for either. Pool had a limit of 2 hours, but you only got kicked out if someone else was wanting to use the pool. There was someone monitoring the pool. No one monitoring the beach. We were told if there was a free chair then we could be there. Pool was much busier than the beach. Did not use gym.
We stayed there in June and since it wasn't very busy they weren't making us sign up for time blocks. However, they mentioned once there are more hotel guests they will require individuals to sign up for the 2 hr time block so that they can keep the number of people in the pool/beach area to a certain amount ( I cant remember exactly what the number is). There is a public beach area about 5 minutes away that can also be utilized.
