I called there last Wednesday, I booked a ride with girlfriend for the following Friday, I gave them everything thing they wanted for info, experience and height and weight of both of us, I received the all good, see u Friday at 12:45pm as our ride was scheduled for 1:00. I drove from Edmonton to Hinton, had a lunch, called them to see how I can pay for the ride, only to be told that we were not able to go because they had no horse for a 200lbs guy lol there was no trying to make up for another day nothing? The excuse I received was oh o have Covid I am not thinking clearly, u think your talking to a 10 year old lol I highly recommend not giving these people your business, just google trail rides there is a few people out there that I am sure won’t screw you over, I recommend one company I know of who won’t bend you over, Lazy VU Rocky Mountain Pack Trips and if they can’t there is others

Mary is a very intelligent host and the other staff were friendly and helpful. The horses are well groomed and smart. I went with my friends and it is one of our best experience ever. Something we found very interesting was that Mary was able read our personalities and match them with the horses. The scenery through the riding was breathtaking. For most of us it was our first time on a horse. We definitely plan on going back soon.

I just had a wonderful 2 hours with Mary and my 8 year old grandson. The views along the river are breathtaking and listening to Mary answer all my grandson’s questions was great. My grandson’s first horseback ride will be something he’ll always remember - thanks, Mary.

Stayed in the white cabin for 5 nights. Awesome location and atmosphere. Mary is the hardest working women I’ve ever seen 😊 never stops. Highlights were the horses grazing all over the grounds, river and the sounds of the train. Can’t wait to return.

My husband and I stayed in the "Grey Cabin" from Sept.13th - Sept.16th situated up on the hill next to the horses! It was perfect! The cabin was clean and well appointed. Loved having a glass of wine on the wrap around deck watching the sun set so peaceful! We took a couple of rides with Mary and they were unbelievable! If you want to ride a horse and experience the mountains this is the place to visit!! We cannot thank Mary enough for our incredible stay. Highly recommend this little gem ♥️

I cannot express how much the thrills that the 4 days that me and my Grandchildren experienced while staying at Old Entrance B 'n B Cabins From the moment we arrived until the day we left, Mary and her crew (Joe, Ellie and Dave) made this so much fun for Payton (10) and Parker (6) and of course Me (63)..The trail rides were amazing....the views were spectacular. Payton and Parker are already looking forward to returning next summer..... This was a wonderful place to stay and so close to so many local attractions, and only 90 minutes from Jasper and all its splendor. I would Highly recommend bringing your children here for an experience like no other. Thank you Mary, Joe, Ellie and Dave for making lifetime memories for Payton, Parker and myself.

I'm an older woman travelling by myself and this was a perfect retreat for me. I love being in nature and camping and have few friends that will take on that challenge. I had to travel up a long scary road through the bush to get there. My cell phone wasn't working so I couldn't rely on google to help me. I had printed a map at home but it was inadequate. A local resident named Eli, overheard me asking for a proper map at the Canadian Tire in Hinton and offered to lead me to the "Old Entrance". The kindness of strangers always surprises me. I stayed in one of the tee pees which are situated right on the banks of the Athabasca River. It's a big swift river so don't expect to wade on the banks! On the opposite side of the river are train tracks. The sites are not close to one another so there was lots of privacy and quiet. It is a perfect spot to by hypnotized by the changing patterns and sounds of the river. Trains run and for the most part, the sounds were not intrusive and I liked listening to the different engines and clickety clacks of the wheels. It's wonderful to watch the sunsetting over the mountains and of course there are stars here which is certainly something I've missed living in the city. Mary, the owner, let's a few of her horses roam over the lawn to graze on the grass. For me, it's a comforting to hear horse noises; their puffing and snorting as horses do. The tee pees are wonderful and have everything you need to be cozy and comfortable. One bed was on a bit of a slope, but camping is all about the challenge so I'm good with that. I had the best sleep I've had in years here. .I appreciated that there was a shower room with flush toilets. They were rustic, but clean and well cared for. There's a resident toad that hunts around the steps leading to to the shower room. I was happy to see him. The campsite was perfect for my needs, There were options for cooking including a woodstove in the tee pee, a small barbeque and the fire pit which had an attachable grill. I did most of my cooking over the open fire. During the day, I was watched Mary the owner of the place, as she tended to the horses with such care and worked hard to keep everything going. She is a western woman of few words but great competence which I found inspirational. I decided to sign up for one of the horse back rides through the country. The ride was spectacular with enough challenge to remind you that you were actually had some responsibility on the horse. When we stopped for pictures over the vista of the valley, I found myself very grateful that a person like Mary was keeping this place sacred. She's owned it since 1986 and remarked that she is surprised how the time has passed. I had planned a few hikes, and activities in the area, but I found the space so relaxing that I just read a book and slowed down. Chopping wood, and tending a fire takes a lot of time too. I was disheartened to read the negative reviews but I guess that this was not the place for them. The secret I've found, is opening yourself to what a place has to offer and this place offers many gifts for a traveler like me.

Our family had a magical experience at one of Mary's cabins! We were charmed by the clean, cozy cabin with all the kitchen basics - laundry, tidy bathroom and wraparound porch. Sitting and overlooking the beautiful grounds, with Mary's horses grazing freely in our yard every night, was honestly one of the neatest animal experiences we've had. Our horse-loving daughter (experienced with horses) was in love with all the horses, trail rides, and the kindness of Mary and the guides, who let her help feed/water/un-tack the horses. We loved the idyllic site along the Athabasca river, it was so quiet we could truly relax on our vacation - a rarity! Mary has a variety of cabins and teepees to choose from for those that want to camp or not. There is WiFi and many cute places to dine within a 10-20 min drive. We enjoyed using the kitchen to prepare meals and used the provided BBQ to grill outdoors. The trail rides are some of the most spectacular scenery we've ever seen astride a horse. From beginners to advanced riders, Mary is an excellent guide and knows the trails so well (so do her horses)! We have stayed in many different venues - from the Fairmont Hotel to camping - and honestly our stay at Mary's was the most relaxing, wonderful, and memorable from our time in the Canadian Rockies. We'll never forget our excellent experience - thank you, Mary!!!!

Found the owner to be very rude, NO BREAKFAST as advertised. Bathrooms, showers were old, and dirty. The owner also charged us for firewood that we didnt use, and accused my girlfriend of lieing about it, even after we supplied pictures we had taking at the camp fire, that included our FULL wood bins that we had brought with us. I would not recommend this place. Horrible experience all around. The owner alone ruined this getaway weekend for us. Not at all worth what she's charging.

AVOID ! AVOID! AVOID! Dealing with the owner .. Mary Luger, is an absolute nightmare! It has totally ruined our experience of the place, for good, and we shall NOT be returning. I booked 2 weekend stays, at the beginning of the year, but had to move one, due to work commitments. I booked a full service cabin, and a more rural, unserviced cabin, for later on. She quite happily took my deposits for both, but failed to secure the full service cabin properly, double booking us, even though, her emails back and forth, detailed the obviously larger deposit for the full service, had secured it. I only found this out, 2 weeks before our trip, when I emailed to confirm arrival times. I couldnt believe it, and was extremly disapointed, so I cancelled that particular visit, as we were clearly not going to get what we have paid for. I asked for a refund of the difference, but was told it would be put towards the remaining stay at the rural cabin, and at the end, I would get the difference back. Weve had our stay there now, and trying to get that money back, has been SO diificult, that its been to the point of being childish. She has quibbled over every single penny, even going as far as to accuse us of lieing about burning her wood! which is ridiculous and unprofessional. Upon arriving, my boyfriend asked if she was now providing breakfast.. as it is, after all, clearly listed as a B&B. She asked us, if we were vaccinated.. which we are not... then retorted, that because of people like us.. (those of us who are not vaccinated) ... she would not be resuming the breakfast part of her "B&B" ... saying that no one was going to set foot in her house, but her.... WHAT AN UNREAL way to speak to paying customers! ...then theres the matter of the "firewood" luckily, I had snapped a shot of my boyfriend by the fire, CLEARLY showing the 5 or more bins of wood off cuts, that we had brought with us to burn. We had brought our own wood to burn on this occassion, because we wanted to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, and clear out the garage, while enjoying 2 nights of great fires. Theirs, is a reasonable $15 for the pile they provide... but we didnt use it.. in fact, we LEFT some logs of our own, that we didnt get around to burning, adding them to her pile... .... nearly 6 emails later... and her providing PHOTOGRAPHS of "her" wood pile.. to prove we had "obviously used her wood" I still had no refund. please understand, that at this point, this miserable sow, is arguing over $15 PATHETIC. Eventually I managed to get my money.. but its been an unbelievable struggle, trying to obtain it. AVOID this women, seriously....and old entrance B&B if you can call it that. As although the setting is lovely.. your experience with Mary Luger WILL NOT BE She is rude, unreasonable, hard to deal with, and unbelievably unprofessional. Quite frankly Im staggered that shes remained open, as long as she has.. as with that attitude, and miserable demeanour...Im utterly suprised that there is ANY repeat custom. Spend your money just up the road, at the newly opened Mountainview Lodge. Its beautiful, the staff are friendly.. the rooms are spectacular, and the value for money that you will recieve, is second to none. Old Entrance B&B is antiquaited, and my godness, so is the service! Word of mouth, and social media, is a powerful tool, and when paying customers are treated this badly, you can also expect reviews to be just as bad. DONT BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE or THIS WOMEN. shes a disgrace to the service industry. ITS NOT WORTH IT.
