We had a fabulous time staying in this 'out of the way' oasis. The property is situated some 25km down a dirt road on the side of a hill. The log cabin was excellent, with a super wood-burning stove and lots of logs to keep the cabin warm in the cool mountain evenings. Laura and her staff are generous and... More

This is not a place for those who cannot leave behind the big city and all it's gadgets. Rocky Mountain Escape is just that, an escape, from the Internet, and the crowds. A surprisingly short drive from Hinton, though you do need rugged transport, and you're right in the thick and the beauty of Willmore Wilderness Park. All food is... More

Laura's love of the outdoors is inspirational and her home cooking and hospitality is to die for. Panoramic views of Rock Lake, wilderness hikes and home cooking on a beautiful wood stove! And you own spacious and meticulously clean wood cabin with your own wood stove! What a jewel she has here.

We spent an early spring weekend at the Escape in 2015, and loved it! The cabins are spotless and extremely cozy - we loved the woodstove and front deck for star-gazing. Laura, the owner of RMEC takes impeccable care of the entire property, and her guests! Her knowledge and respect of the area and it's other inhabitants is amazing; we... More

An adventure to get there in itself . We feel so lucky to have found this place along with Laura an amazing host . The cabins are so beautiful and above anything I expected . The log fire , the sulphur baths that made our skin so soft , the birds around the cabins and the silence of winter that... More

We spent 4 nights over the Labour day weekend, it was absolutely one of the best weekends we have had! The atmosphere of having dinner together in the cookhouse with your fellow cabin neighbours, the volunteers and your humble host and cook Laura creates the most wonderful experience! Not to mention her cooking never fails to impress, and there is... More

We very much enjoyed our experience at Rocky Mountain Escape. Laura provided a lovely, large log cabin with a modern wood stove for warmth during the night. Two comments about the cabin (ours was #2): - it takes a bit to adjust to the tap water (for toilets, sink and shower use) which is very soft but smells sulphuric. By... More

We spent a weekend here February 2014 and have booked another weekend for this March. We read the other reviews prior to our first booking and we were not disappointed as the descriptions were spot on! Laura is a great host, the meals were hearty and the cabins were lovely. Meals are shared in the cookhouse, which led to some... More
