I don't think it would be possible for this hotel to care any less for its customers. I have been in the sales/customer service industry for decades and I was completely baffled that this place even exists based on its complete lack of any form of management, client satisfaction and protocol. Here are my three strikes: At check in my wife and two young children went looking for the washroom while I checked in, while I was at the front desk my wife and young daughters (fresh off a 7 hour road trip) asked if a key was needed as the bathroom wouldn't open, the front desk lady responded with "As you can see I'm busy here, please don't interrupt me". My jaw hit the floor and if I could have I would have cancelled my stay on the spot. I then proceeded to tell her "to please help my children first before me", to which she responded "use another washroom" My next experience occurred two hours later, my daughter fresh out of the pool required towels and a sign was posted to get the towels at the front desk. As I went to pick a towel (more like a face cloth) out of the bin at the front desk a new snappy front desk attendant yelled over "You cant just take those!, I need to know you are not using an Air B n B here before you take a towel!" I responded with "I am staying here in room XXX" she then proceeded to confirm my stay while my daughters stood in the lobby shaking cold before allowing us to have a friggen towel. Now the best experience of all (and strike three of the day for a home run) was two hours later. At 8:30pm when my father (who was in another room) went to turn on his AC unit. The AC (which by the way was not functioning at first in either of our rooms) completely malfunctioned in his sounding like a freight train. We called front desk to ask for someone to come and have a look and the instant response was "I cant do anything for you", to which I responded "well we have no AC and it is 30 degrees and we paid $230 for a room with AC" They responded again with "well there is nothing I can do". I asked for a maitenance guy to be sent and the response was "we dont have one on at night". My father and I then proceeded to the front desk to speak with the wonderful towel lady again. She told us "Nothing can be done guys, I am the ONLY PERSON WORKING HERE" to which I responded can I speak to a manager on duty, to which she responded "I AM THE ONLY PERSON WORKING HERE TONIGHT, the manager is not here" to which I responded "This is a 200+ bed resort and you are the only person working here?" Frankly I was now completely worried for anyone staying in this hotel (and after reading reviews I see I am not the only one). Our concern over lack of air conditioning continued to fall on deaf ears until I requested for her to call her manager. She called her manager (who would not speak directly to us) and she said "he is in a business meeting (at 8:30pm on a Monday night??), and that he will call back in 10 minutes". We went back 15 minutes later and the front desk lady said "He called back and again, nothing he can do, you can speak with him in the morning if he shows up for work, he sometimes comes at 8, sometimes 9, just pops in and out sometimes." What the heck? I have never ever been spoken to like this at a hotel, let alone a hotel like this? We went back at 8am before departing to press our luck with the manager but, nope. Nothing, front desk lady (the washroom denier) said leave your number and Sylvester will call you...needless to say no call. To wrap this up folks, I was completely shocked. This huge resort has ZERO protocol for how to handle concerns, ZERO sympathy for things going wrong, ZERO communication skill, ZERO customer service. ONE person on staff in the evening! What a complete disaster and an embarrassment to the Bellstar chain of hotels. NEVER EVER will I stay at a Bellstar hotel. As I write 24 hours later I remain absolutely dumfounded on this experience.

My husband and I stayed here with our young children and it was great. The location was super convenient and there were lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance for little feet. The pool area was amazing... The water slide and kiddie pool with fountain were highlights of the trip for both kids. The place was clean, everyone was friendly, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

We've stayed here a few times now, one in a private suite and one rented through the resort. Both times were during COVID (the first was with full restrictions, the second with lifted restrictions). I had issues both times, but for different reasons. The first stay, we stayed in a lovely suite (2 story Penthouse), and although it was rented privately, we still had access to the entire resort. The elevator is painstakingly slow....if you have to bring up a trolley with your suitcases, expect to wait AT LEAST 10 minutes, didn't matter the time of day, the wait was ridiculous. We tried to avoid the elevator at all cost because of this, but there were times when it was inevitable. Our first morning I went to go get bagels across the street (recommend!), but on return, the front doors were closed as there was no staff working (they don't staff the front desk from 12am-8am - this is important for later). Because we were staying in a private suite, I had NO idea that I wouldn't be able to get back into the building this way. I had no idea what the code was to access the side doors. There was a sign with a phone number on it to call after hours, but no one was answering. There was another guest there that said they were staying there, but she couldn't get in either, and she was MAD. After 20 minutes of being unable to contact anyone in my suite or from the provided phone number, I finally figured out to just go through the parking garage (as I remembered the code), but still, this was incredibly annoying. Communication was so poor during covid, and it changed from person to person. For example, we were told that if we booked the pool, we could get there 10 minutes early, as that will help with the check in, and getting situated. This worked for the first few days, but after that, the staff changed over, and the next person had no idea what they were doing. He couldn't find our pool reservation (we saw them write it in the book the day before), then wasn't going to allow us in. Didn't let us in until 5 minutes after our reservation. Then he realized that he had the wrong date up in his reservation book, and OVERBOOKED the pool, and was then going to refuse us from entry. The pool was then unable to be socially distanced because of his error. He then came and got people out of the pool 15 minutes before their time was over because of his error. On our second visit, restrictions were lifted, and up to 99 people could be in the pool area. There were approximately 30 people in there and it was insane. The pool is way too small to allow that many people in there at one time. It was also not maintained/cleaned, and had that slimy water feel under our feet throughout the entrance and up to the pool. Beware as well that if you have a mountain view room, you are facing the very busy highway, and it is LOUD. Big trucks at all hours howling down that highway. We would try to sit on the patio and have a drink, but at times couldn't even hear each other because of how loud the highway was. I will say that the units were adequately stocked in the kitchens for cooking materials, it was very clean, and everything worked well. The beds were very comfortable. As is the case in many hotels, the hallways echoed into our room and at times was loud, but not too disruptive. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant or used the cafeteria area (closed the first time, didn't need the second). Gym was also closed both times we were there. Very close walking to everything we needed (grocery shopping, bike rentals, coffee, restaurants, Policeman's Creek, downtown, Elevation Place). My biggest complaint was at 4:15am, we had the fire alarm go off (this in itself is not an issue....they are installed for a reason!). However, because the hotel does not staff the place at night, there was NO ONE to direct us, tell us what was going on, the emergency contact was not notified, it was chaos, and after an hour of waiting, we still had no idea what was going on, as all the guests were standing in the parking lot, freezing. Not having a single hotel representative there to assist with the emergency evacuation was in itself the biggest downfall for me. I still cannot believe that is even legal, to be honest. The firefighters were too busy to provide us with any information, we had no idea if we were even going to get back into the building, like nothing. And then in the end, there was still no communication with the hotel. Because of that, I will never stay here again. There is no service after hours, the emergency after hours number that they provide you goes no where, and their lack of communication during an emergency event (there are protocols for evacuation that they are supposed to trained for, and there was no staff to do so....a MASSIVE safety issue!), will prevent me from staying here again.

Thanks to the arrogant clerk who was miserable, and the added mystery charges on top of the charges and points we used, I give this place a poor rating... add to the bad start here, the Sysco truck doing deliveries before 7am to nearby businesses was also not a treat. Yes I guess that’s what you get for staying in the annex... beware the annex where parking stalls are made for the tiniest cars and front desk staff quickly treat you like, well, you belong in the cheap annex. I don’t complain on here often, but for Canmore a couple weeks after COVID one would think this place would try harder... and WTF no hair dryer in our room? Bed was nice though...
