Our stay at the Grande Rockies Resort in Canmore was a bit disappointing. We stayed in the Annex Building, which didn’t live up to expectations. While the beds were very comfortable, the overall condition of the unit left much to be desired. The redecoration felt amateurish, with peeling wallpaper and visible saw cuts in the bathroom tile, giving the space an unfinished look. Cleanliness was also an issue—our room wasn’t as spotless as we would have hoped. No writing or work desk in the room, which is a problem for a business-related retreat. The main resort building may be much nicer, but the Annex definitely needs some attention. That said, the location is great, and with some improvements, it could be a much better experience. Would recommend staying in the main building instead. Blondie's cafe on the corner is open early and serves great coffee, as does the Rocky Mountain Bagel company, also within a block.

The location of this facility is great especially for us who used the public bus system. The bus stop was less than 5 mins away. Also, grocery stores were close by, walking distance. Downtown Canmore is also walking distance. Front desk staff were very helpful as well!
The facility itself is a bit outdated. The bathrooms need renovations. However, these things are minor. When I visit Canmore again and use public transportation, I will return to this place.

We enjoyed having a living room, kitchen, bedroom & bath for our stay in Canmore. We made breakfast for ourselves each morning and we had snacks & drinks in the evening. The location is great - easy access off the highway and getting around in Canmore was simple. The only negative - parking for this property is underground and not easy to find! Once inside the parking area, you must choose a parking spot that is posted for this resort. Many of the parking places were marked "private" or named a different resort's parking place. We did like the amenities here and the staff was cordial & professional. We would absolutely stay here again.

I’m taking the time to write this reviews in hopes of saving people their money and time. I would never ever stay at this hotel again. We rented two - one bedroom suites and upon entering our rooms and it was extremely obvious that the bare minimum was done. In the first room there were crumbs all over the floor by the bar stools, grime and dirt on multiple surfaces, black grime in the shower, crumbs on the stove, what appeared to be toothpaste stuck to the bathroom floor, something stuck on the side of the centerpiece of the table and coffee spilled down the wall, broken bathroom and pantry doors, dust on the bedside tables to name a few. In our other room, it was very dusty, there were footprints all over the floor, there were no towels, dish towels, dishwasher cubes or laundry soap, the dishwasher was broken and when we went to use the washing machine there was a wet load of laundry sitting in there. When I called I was told someone would be up to clean the room right away. After waiting over 30 minutes I phoned down to the front desk. I didn’t feel like I could start cooking in my room with the state of it. It was well after supper and my kids were starving and crying. I tried phone down to the desk several times with no answer. The second I phoned from my personal cell phone, my call was answered immediately. We had difficulty getting a hold of anyone during other times as well when we phoned from our rooms. It felt like they prioritized potential new business as opposed to their own guests. Someone showed up to do a very quick wipe down of our room, but it was obviously needing a very thorough clean. He said that he was also the cook at the restaurant and we saw him checking on the pool and performing other various tasks around the hotel. This tells me that staffing is obviously an issue. I was quite surprised at how the front staff seemed to downplay our situation. There was no offer of new rooms, discounts or apologies. Only, “Oh we will send someone up to clean.” After 2 days we did get an apology by the head of housekeeping, but it nothing else was done to rectify the situation. After emailing with a manager (which was facilitated by myself) we were offered 30% off our next stay. Can I say slap in the face?? I had to advocate fiercely to get any amount of money off our current stay (which I would not say compensated the situation.) You would think that with many places enacting Covid protocols for cleaning that our room would be thoroughly cleaned. I had to do a lot of the cleaning myself with Lysol wipes and I didn’t even feel comfortable putting our baby on the floor. We had booked this hotel room because it was a 4 star hotel and the space provided as I was staying there with 2 little kids. I spent a minimal amount of time the room because I just felt so grossed out. We saved up a lot of money to be able to stay at this hotel and we were beyond disappointed with everything!!! The only positive note was that the pool was great, but unfortunately they shut down the kiddy pool part way through our stay for maintenance. Save your money and stay somewhere else who will value you as customer!

Beware: Don't book this hotel if you expect to actually stay at it. I booked this reservation in January 2023 for a wedding in November2023 and found out 10 days before my reservation I was being moved to a different resort off site. I am traveling for a large family gathering and will no longer be staying in the same location due to the Resort issue. Apparently they can oversell the Resort and move reservations made 10 months in advance without notice to another location. Will not be booking to stay at of their resorts again.

We booked through the hotel instead of a VRBO or air bnb. Bad choice. The room was poorly equipped for what is advertised as a full kitchen. No oven mitt, no cutting board, one wine glass, 3 water glasses, random assortment of cutlery, one sharp knife, one pot, no wine opener, no serving plates. When the front desk was called for a wine glass and oven mitts I was brought the oldest burnt pair of oven mitts available, a champagne flute and a water goblet. There were no wine glasses anywhere I was told (lots in the bar though). There was a rotten broccoli smell that we thought came from the fridge but later felt it came from the drain located at the front of the washing machine that is beside the fridge. The fridge freezer did not work, when called on day 2 because our ice melted they sent two people to look at it and said yep it doesn't work. They were supposed to fix the next day but didn't, called again and nobody else came the rest of our stay. Lost our freezer food. The fridge was barely cool and made our dairy questionable at best. 2 towels for 4 people when we checked in, had to call for 2 more and they were never replaced unless called for. Parking is VERY tight in the underground parkade if you can find a spot. TV cables came loose frequently and had to be pushed back in. Pull out bed was supposed to have a sheet on it but didn't despite the placard that says it should, had to call front desk for that and was told it will be up when I can as I'm by myself. Staff were friendly but unable to be helpful for whatever reason. Drain in the shower was broken and would close filling the shower to my ankles if not jostled loose. We had to get new keys 2 more times after checking in as they became deactivated for some reason.

Starting from the beginning, check-in in 5pm, seriously guys 5pm. And check out 10 am. Wtf. Anyway our sheets were dirty, called the front desk, hotel fully booked can't change rooms and even he offered new sheets but no one available to change it, I had to go myself and pick it up and change it myself. Even so there were scheduled to fix plumbing all day without water, we couldn't even go to washroom. 185$ a night for the worst experience i ever had what a joke.

Our stay here was a bit disappointing, especially after such a positive experience staying in one of Bellstar's sister locations in Canmore.
I had planned a trip through the rocky mountains for Canada Day long weekend and had to bring my puppy with me as he is being trained to be my service dog and I found this hotel online. The photos of the hotel looked very nice and despite the prices for hotels being a bit higher due to Canada Day, the photos seemed to reflect the price accurately, but I was wrong.
When I arrived, the concierge I checked in with was friendly and told me my room was ready, but then it went downhill from there. I was told that they forgot the bottle of red wine I had paid for when booking the room and it was instead handed to me at the lobby counter - disappointing. Good thing I wasn't staying here for an anniversary or that would have been embarrassing. I was then asked if I was parking underground but I had a trailer with me (for towing my motorcycle) and was told I would most likely have to park it at the Circle K gas station, the restaurant across from the hotel, or parallel on the street (to which there are wasn't room at any). There was room to park right beside the Annex building (which was the building my room was in) but I was told it couldn't be parked there so I didn't. I had to go a couple of streets over to find parking. I was very frustrated after walking back from my parking spot to find a truck parked in the spot I was told that I couldn't park in (and it had stayed in that spot for the duration of our stay and was not ticketed or towed).
The annex building severely needs upgrading. The doors in the lobby are out of alignment and look unsightly. The public areas of the Annex building are very poorly lit and have minimal furniture. The furniture they door have is not very inviting. When we got to our room it was disappointing. It did not have a clean odor, the robe in the bathroom had holes all throughout it, there was what appeared to be a dirty towel draped over the shower. The toilet barely flushed and the sink would clog up if the water ran for more than a few seconds. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling, it was very poorly lit, and the bathroom wasn't very clean. The rainfall showerhead was nice but the water pressure in the shower wasn't great. The beds were horribly uncomfortable and left us waking up stiff and sore and at night the one single lamp provided between the two double beds didn't provide much light for the room. The cheap furniture had small chips all over the finish.
Even though dogs are not supposed to be left unattended in the hotel. There was a dog in a room across from us that continuously barked.
For what we paid and the experience we had in other hotels owned by Bellstar, we expected a lot better. This hotel unfortunately did not meet our expectations and we would not recommend it to others. When we stay in Canmore in the future, we will look elsewhere.

Overall our stay in three rooms (3-bedroom penthouse, two 1-King bedroom rooms) was amazing. Any time we required something (towels, garbage bags, robes, dish towels, ice, etc.) the staff were very quick to respond and always friendly. The 3-bedroom penthouse is very spacious. The closet in the master bedroom is large enough to hold a blowup mattress if you needed to fit a few more people in as is the master bedroom. The two bathrooms are spacious however the showers are difficult to figure out. The hotel needs more signage in the hallways for the lobby/pool. There needs to be signage in the rooms for where the ice is located. Dining room chairs were stained therefore they either need a deep cleaning/replacing. We found cobwebs on the light fixture above the dining room table as well as liquid spill on the wall from the upstairs opening which looks down into the living room. There was also tape left on the beam between the kitchen and living room from a previous guest that was missed being removed by guests/housekeeping. The coffee table appears to be broken (top was quite loose from the bottom). There were no housekeeping services provided during our two night stay in any of our rooms. The water temperature in the pools and hot tub was perfect. More seating would be great in the pool area. We would definitely consider going back.

Stayed in the building that was opposite the main entrance. The two rooms we had for the four of us differed because of this. We had a smaller room on the ground floor, while the other couple on the second floor had more than a meter deeper room, which gave these options more peace. Moreover, they had a cozy balcony. But the most important thing about a hotel is the bed. This turned out to be the best bed of our trip.

There's no one to check if there are only 6 ppl. Our room was very tight when you pulled out the sofa bed, so I'd say there isn't much room to put 2 kids on the floor. You can probably fit them, but it will be tight. We had to add a person on the floor ourselves as friends were visiting and they got snowed in due to a snow storm. We just put the sofa cushions on the floor and they slept there, but there was no room to move once you moved the furniture to clear floor space. Hope that helps.
