The hostel has wonder views, and clean rooms/amenities. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are fair.
I was pleasantly surprised that each bed has a black out curtain and little shelf with night light and usb charging.
My only complaint is that the kitchen is a bit narrow and tricky to move through if crowded.

Well isolated sleeping areas with curtains including individual sockets and light. Cooking facility is great. The front desk person was very helpful and kind. The quiet hours are respected. The washroom facilities are mixed gender, but it does not cause any issues.

I stayed at the Canmore Downtown Hostel when I was visiting for a music festival. The hostel was clean and quiet. It was also in a great location within walking distance (10-15 minutes depending on walking speed) to grocery stores. I did find the beds to be a bit hard for my liking but it would be fine for back sleepers. The pillow I got was also pretty thin but the staff were kind enough to get me a second pillow when I asked. Overall a pretty good stay and I would stay here again!

The hostel is clean and stylish but the concept of having everything be co-ed is ill-conceived and poorly executed. Having both men and women in the bedrooms is challenge enough, but having two mixed bathrooms when they could just as easily have separate facilities for both genders to shower and use the toilet is preposterous. Many women looked extremely uncomfortable whenever a man walked in and I don’t blame them. Out of respect, I tried to avoid using it at all. They could at least have better shower stalls since you have to take all your stuff in and get changed in a tiny cubicle with no seat or shelf nor room to turn around. The fact that the place is plastered with posters urging you to call 911 immediately if you see a certain man in the building shows how problematic the setup is. For me, it was a giant hassle to hide in my bed waiting for privacy to change etc but for women they don’t even get a basic sense of safety.

The beds were great for me (I like hard beds) and the pillow was the perfect size, needed some more white noise to fall asleep (the fan would only turn on every once in a while) and the blanket was perfect. Stayed in a women's room (8) which had a private bathroom and shower, but if needed the other bathrooms and showers (co-ed) were down the hallway. Didn't use the shared kitchen/common room because we were only there to sleep and shower (busy all day and evening hiking/touring canmore)

Great facilities and lovely staff who went out of their way to look after me during my stay. The beds are very comfortable with curtains around them which made things nice and private, this is the only hostel I have stayed that I would consider a longer term stay in. Great kitchen and lounge.

Beds have privacy curtains, charging ports, and plenty of room to store luggage in a locker or under the bed. There's two bathrooms with plenty of showers and toilets, and they are cleaned multiple times during the day. The kitchen can get a bit cramped when busy, but has plenty of stovetops and cookware, as well as storage for food (there is no freezer though). The kitchen being closed from 10:30pm to 5am can be annoying, but you just need to remember to eat before it closes! A compost bin in the kitchen would be a great addition. Staff are super friendly and were very accommodating to changes I needed during my stay. The common area has great views, and tables and chairs to eat and relax at.

I am not a big fan of hostels but I can warmly recommend this one. There's nothing they haven't thought of: Curtains around each bed for privacy, outlets and reading lamp at each bed, lockers in the dorms, perfectly equipped and organized kitchen, clean and spacious bathrooms, free parking in front and in garage. I liked Canmore and if I ever come back, I'll stay here again.
(Of course there were "dirty spots" throughout the day, but can't blame the staff, who is doing a great job. Don't know why some people can't treat shared spaces with more respect...).

I stayed at the Canmore Downtown Hostel for 6 nights from Sept.23 - Sept.29, 2020 as a solo traveler in an 8 bed mixed dorm with a private bathroom.

The hostel was brand new (built in 2019), modern, clean and comfortable. It was located in the Shops of Canmore area on the second floor of one of the buildings along the Bow Valley Trail. There were a selection of restaurants, cafes, and shops in this area, which was very convenient (including an amazing curry restaurant called Mad Dogs right next door and Beamers Cafe for delicious drinks). There was a large parking lot if you have a car. The hostel was a short drive to the centre of town, or within walking distance as well.

The hostel had a beautiful, cozy, spacious and welcoming lounge next to the lobby with a large couch, tables and bean bag chairs, along with a TV (with Netflix and cable). There were floor to ceiling windows on all sides with stunning views of the mountains! This was a great space to hang out in the evenings. Due to COVID, masks are required in the common areas, however, most people were not wearing them but everyone did keep a good distance from each other. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. The guest kitchen was open from 5 am to 10:30 pm and had pots, cooking utentils, etc. You have to request a plate set from the front desk and then return it at the end of your stay to receive the deposit back. No continental breakfast is offered. There was a large fridge for storing your food items and lockers for dry goods (make sure to label them).

There was a long hallway leading to the dorms, which were identified by different letters. I stayed in dorm H which had a private washroom and shower. The dorms only had half-capacity due to COVID, so I shared the room with 3 other people. The dorm was spacious, new and charming. I liked the colourfully painted bunk beds and the large windows with mountain views. Each bed had a privacy curtain, shelf, outlets and USB plug ins, lamp and hangers. The lockers were large enough to fit multiple backpacks (bring your own lock).

The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful. You could purchase or rent bear spray for reduced prices at the hostel, which was good to have when hiking.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hostel and it's one that I will return to when I am back in Canmore. There are plenty of things to do in the area and this town is a great base for exploring and hiking. Kananaskis and Banff are both a close drive for fantastic hiking trails! I prefer Canmore to Banff, as it has a more relaxed vibe, there are less people, and it feels less commercialized and more just like a normal town in the mountains. There are a great selection of restaurants and cute shops in town to explore. Would highly recommend!
