The Lamphouse Hotel stands out for its efficient service and charming ambiance, with guests frequently lauding the clean and comfortable rooms that boast scenic views. While the rooms are appreciated for their coziness and cleanliness, some guests find them on the smaller side.
The hotel's downtown location is a hit for its easy access to attractions, and many regard it as a good value, though there are occasional mentions of unexpected conditions. Amenities such as free parking and Nespresso machines add to the hotel's appeal, even with some reports of limited closet space and hot tub upkeep issues.

Detailed Reviews
Location was excellent and check in was easy. This is a DIY hotel with most interactions done via text. Worked well until we had a problem where the battery died for our door and the code would not work. The front desk was only staffed from 2:30pm to 10:30 pm - even when present, they are not much help with recommendations or information on area trails. When we were leaving to catch a flight the door locked behind us (with half our stuff inside) and the battery for the door code died. Had to call the central number and text to get help - would have been nice to have a front desk person to open the door rather than wait 20 minutes for maintenance when we were trying to catch a flight. (kudos to maintenance though as they were great). Also had to skim the leaves out of the hot tub ourselves - if just looking for a comfortable bed in a good location then it will serve your purpose!

We really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect for enjoying restaurants and shopping, and there was parking on site. The hotel room was delightful, clean and modern with all of the convenience items we needed. The air conditioning was a little loud, but even ear plugs were provided. Although we didn’t use the hot tub, we were impressed that extra towels were provided in the room for us to use.

Stayed here for a girls night and had an absolutely wonderful time! The 3 bedroom apartment worked very well for our group, and we loved the location in downtown. The apartment was clean, and bright. Great views from almost every window! The apartment was so lovely to come home to after a busy day

We have stayed Basecamp Properties in the past in Canmore and booked the Lamphouse Apartment Suite for a quick family getaway to the beautiful Rocky Mountains. The Lamphouse Hotel is conveniently located right downtown. We had called ahead to request a deep clean as we were travelling with a guest that is compromised (this request has been made a various hotels and we have always been very grateful for the extra attention our rooms have received). They told us they put a note on the file. When we request a deep clean we still expect to spend time for some final touches and we are ok with that, because we do understand that housekeeping is extremely busy and we appreciated any extra attention that can be spent on our rooms. When arrived on Thursday at 5:30. PM and looked around our suite. Comforters, pillows, towels had been removed as requested, however we did notice many markings and debris on walls and floors. As per the Covid guidelines we read about on the website, when we sanitized around the light switches, handrails and door knobs our wipes were completely soiled. The Kitchen has food that was stuck onto the cupboards and backsplash. There were coffee stains along the side of the cupboards. The wall surrounding the patio door was splattered with drinks. Tape was left on the window frames and walls. Footprints were highly visible on the walls in a few areas. The dining table had crumbs all in the gap. When we connected with the front desk we were told that unfortunately they were extremely understaffed to meet the request of a deep clean. However many of the items I mentioned above should be standard cleaning, especially high touch surfaces within the apartment. We requested a call from the manager and were told that the manger would connect with us in the next few days. The manager did send an email and gave us $300 off the the room for the first night. Three adults in our reservation spent from 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM cleaning the apartment. We were extremely disappointed that the manager did not call to listen to the full extent of our concerns. Out of the hotels control the air quality was horrible Saturday evening. Unfortunately the smoke smell was seeping into the apartment. (I have stayed at various other hotels that have had smoke impacting them in both Jasper and Banff, never was I able to smell it within our rooms. We did respond to the manager's email expressing our concerns as well as sending some pictures and it has been 5 days since we check out a day early with no compensation because of the smoke smell and we have not received a call or response to our email.
In having had great experiences at other Basecamp Properties this trip was extremely disappointing for our entire family.
On another note - Air Conditioners are extremely loud. One of the rooms did not have the air conditioner hose hooked up to the outdoors wall. If both the Master Bedroom and Living Room air conditioners are on it will blow a fuse and you need to rest.
Very unfortunate that such a wonderfully located and remodeled hotel is not being taken care of.

We are sorry your stay was a disappointment. As we expressed in the numerous emails sent to you, we are very challenged for staff in the Bow Valley and in the entire province. There was definitely some miscommunication with your booking. We schedule regular deep cleans, but in no way can we deep clean a three bedroom apartment during our peak season. Many of the issues you expressed are definitely standard cleaning protocol, and this lack of cleanliness is unacceptable hence the reason we refunded $300 towards your stay. Unfortunately as the fires raged within minutes of Canmore, all the hotels and our personal homes were affected by the smoke. As a small hotel we have struggled to keep our doors open throughout COVID and forest fires making it impossible for us to compensate our guests for the smoke that is completely out of our control and a yearly occurrence in our mountain town. Management was given an update from guest services regarding your issues. It is extremely difficult for management to connect with every guest, especially with severe staff shortages and the back and forth with telephone tag. We find it more beneficial to get everything in writing/email so there can be little room for miscommunication. We do hope you get back to Canmore again when the weather cools down and the fires are another season down!

We arrived and the floor was soaking wet. We asked the front desk and they said it had just been deep cleaned and it would be dry in a few hours. It did not dry in a few hours. This affected our stay negatively.
The soaps and shower gels smelt bad and the shower room floor was perpetually wet.
During the night and early morning it was noisy. Which meant bad nights sleep.
The manager offered us 20% discount which honestly I found a little insulting considering the experience.
Location was convenient and walkable to everything. Parking was also convenient. Hot tub was an afterthought and should not be considered an amenity.

We are disappointed to see this review. When the discount was offered to you we were not aware of anything except the damp floor. We offered to upgrade you to a different room which you declined. We always want our guests to walk away happy, our staff works extremely hard to rectify issues when they are brought to our attention.

We had a wonderful stay at the Lamphouse Basecamp. The location of this hotel is perfect. It is in downtown, so close to all of the shops and restaurants—yet it was not noisy. The rooms are nice, a bit small but very comfortable. The bathroom was very nice with a great shower. It was also great that parking was free. They really reduced the stress by having one parking space assigned to each room.
Another benefit is that each room has a small table and a couple of chairs so you can have a place to drink your morning coffee and watch the changing sky as the sun rises.
Check-in and check-out was very easy. I would highly recommend Lamphouse and will certainly stay again on our next visit to the area.

This place was amazing. I was gifted a 2 night stay and couldn’t ask for a more spotless room, and the most comfortable bed ever! The room was spotless, had the easiest way of checking in and they were very helpful with any questions all with a simple text message. The hot tub was amazing.

We chose this hotel for the hot tub and for two days the hot tub was closed because it was cold. (hot tubs are hot so you don't get cold in them).
Then when it warmed up the hot tub was closed for "maintenance". (Why not do maintenance when it was already closed).

My wife and I spent a night at the Lamphouse. It was perfect. The bed was a king bed that was very comfortable. The room size was large. The interior style, contemporary mountain, was well executed. One strong recommendation is to take advantage of the bistro table at the entrance to the room. While it is on the common access point for other rooms you will rarely get disturbed. We bought a fantastic Italian wine and made our own charcuterie board and simply watched the changing light on the mountain range. Can't say enough about how this hotel nailed it!
