The Georgetown Inn, with its enchanting English ambiance and homey decor, has garnered praise for its charming atmosphere and cozy rooms, complete with quaint touches. While many travelers find the amenities satisfactory, including on-site dining options, others express concerns regarding noise and the unconventional on-request housekeeping service. Opinions on value are mixed; some criticize the noise levels and prices, yet others feel the rates are fair for the experience. The staff's friendliness stands out, though service can sometimes fall short. Cleanliness is generally well-regarded, although the housekeeping policy has received mixed feedback.

This property feels like a historic building but with an elevator. The rooms are decorated in a period style which my wife and I really enjoyed. The restaurant and bar are all wood, and the walls are lined with Canmore history- pictures of local climbers and skiers, articles about famous locals and plenty of mountaineering gear, old skiing equipment and mining paraphernalia. Spend some time walking around looking at the history of the region as it is displayed on the walls.
The staff were friendly and professional and the bed was very comfortable. I would have to say the highlight was the complimentary breakfast. You can order anything you like off the restaurant menu. I highly recommend the Orange Waffles. They are cooked to perfection, have whatever sides you like and some with an orange glaze, icing of some kind and slices of mandarin oranges. Absolutely delicious and more than enough fuel to get you through whatever your day holds.
The parking lot is easy to access and get out of and although the location is close to the core there is no appreciable road noise to disrupt your sleep. We highly recommend walking over to the Table restaurant. Their menu is also amazing and the dinner meal one of our nights was extraordinary and remarkable in its taste, quality and presentation.
Georgetown Inn gets five stars +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++.

We didnt book beforehand, they had a vacancy and were told as we hadnt booked we had to wait an hour to get our room ready which is absolutely no problem when youre in Canmore. My husband went in to see if they had any rooms and he was treated very well. They showed him a room and a suite, but as we were only there for one night we didnt need the suite. We stayed in room 215. It overlooked the front of the building. It has 2 massive Queen beds in, the most ornate headboards, fireplace, tv, dresser, closet, tea and coffee making facilities. Lovely room. Clean. The bathroom was nice. Not overly sized but plenty big enough if there are just 2 of you. I will say the only thing that could be an issue is the sink is set high and deep, it would be difficult for a shorter person or child to navigate.
The room was quiet, as my husband is a light sleeper and he didnt have any complaints.
We ate in the restaurant. Food was great. Service was really good.
We noticed its a dog friendly hotel and they even had a jar with dog biscuits at reception. And there were cookies on the counter for non dogs. lol
I also noticed ramps into the premises at the two locations we used and there is a lift for people using wheelchairs.
I will mention even tho we did just about get a parking space, parking is a bit limited. There are spaces behind the hotel but i can imagine height of season you need to be quick. I dont know if there was an overflow anywhere, didnt ask.

Stayed in Canmore for a wedding. We asked for a pet friendly room so we got a great location with easy outdoor access to let the dog out. The hotel is older but our room had modern amenities and was very quiet. Definitely plan on staying here again. Plus the Rocky Mountain Bagel Company was right across the street - great orange juice!!!

Wife and I stayed early July for 1 night.

Quite a lot of mould in bathroom on the ceiling of the shower and we had a pillow with blood on it.

Discussed different room options with front desk person upon which we were told there were no other rooms available but they would discount our room (approx 20%) and replace the pillow.

Emailed the company thru their website to say that during this whole pandemic thing a room with mould and blood on the pillow doesn't make us too confident that proper cleaning protocols for covid are happening in the establishment.

It is now end of July, the company apparently can not be bothered to respond.

Front desk person was nice, not sure if utmost care and attention is being taken to ensure rooms are properly sanitized and clean.

I booked in advanced and I stayed in Georgetown Inn 3 nights September 7, 8, 9, 2020. I visit Canmore twice a year, once in April once in September for years. I wanted to try something different for accommodation this September, and this place looked very charming in the pictures. I have travelled in Canada past 47 years, and lived in Alberta for a half a century, this was the most expensive accommodation ( after I asked for senior citizen rates, and some of the very young people stayed there at the same time I stayed, paid fraction of what I paid for per night ) I stayed in, and also it was the dirtiest, filthiest place, I could not sit on the chair in my room, it was so dirty, the king bed in Queen's bedroom was very uncomfortable, very cheep sheets were very slippery. My room did not have water glasses, I had to ask for it, I also asked for a shower cap, they did not have it! The chairs and the carpets on the hallways were also very dirty, had to disinfect my shoes regularly after walking trough the hallways! I also happened to know for a fact that 2 of the hotels in Canmore have given free breakfast to its guests in brown paper bags, also they have given the 3rd night free to their guests! This place had nothing to offer when it came to any free breakfast! The young people helping at the front desk were very pleasant and sweet, I had no issues with them. As far as how much I paid to stay there in the condition my room was ( I am sure my room was not cleaned for at least a month, during this covid-19 pandemic ), I very strongly felt I have been taken advantaged for the first time ever in our beautiful country Canada! However, the only consolation I feel that, as long as this happens to me every 47 years, I will have to be ok. with it! Never again will stay at this place!

Booked a king size bed but got a regular bed sized room. We could not get dressed at the same time as there was only room for one person to change at a time in front of the sink area. Towels and linens were clean and room vacuumed but bugs had collected in light fixture in bathroom and wall lamp shades had dust collected on top. Hair still in tub so don't know how well it had been sanitized and cleaned. Wood side table had seen better days. Wood frame around inside of door didn't even have nail holes filled in. Lots of tea and coffee with a kettle, teapot and a coffee maker. Described as quaint with some antiques and pictures of old movie posters with hand made write ups. However cheap wall mounted electric fire place that did not work deterred the quaintness for us. Bed needs replacing as sagged in the middle. Staff was friendly. I understand Covd might have affected the more thorough cleaning of the room. However, the run down parts could have been touched up during the down time. This room was NOT worth $155 a night.

The room was very nice, clean, lovely antique furniture. But, the fact that you can’t book a table for dinner at the pub is ridiculous. One pays the same at the Georgetown Inn per night as you do for a 4 star in Banff. The only perk of being a hotel guest is, well, having a hotel room. The excuse given for not being able to reserve was ‘a lot of locals like to eat here. That’s great, long live community spirit, except Canmore thrives, actually depends, on tourist dollars. In our COVID era where queues are commonplace everywhere, you’d expect your own hotel to provide more than the small privilege of just a room.

I have stayed at the Georgetown numerous times over the past 20 years and it continues to be my favourite hotel in Canmore. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. I love the kettle, tea pot and cookies in each room - as a teas drinker other hotels leave me to use the coffee maker for hot water so this is a nice touch. Having the pub on site is wonderful and adds to the ambiance. I did find on my last visit that my room and the common areas could use a refresh. Nothing major but I hope management is paying attention before it goes too far. The staff were all fantastic- the only exception was the young lady working the front desk at check in who was uncharacteristically unwelcoming and unhelpful- much more interested in rejoining a conversation with friends in the office. But overall still my preferred hotel in Canmore.

Everything was great. The hotel is located directly to the city with the pubs and restaurants (just a 10min walk) and you can enter the highway 1 to Banff really quick. The room was spacious and calm. It has every amenity we needed. Because of Covid there is no room service (as in every hotel in Alberta) available at the moment, but you always get fresh towels, new coffee pads or the garbage emtied if you ask at the reception. The staff was very friendly and helped us with the booking of the gondola because we had problems doing it online. We also went to the pub one evening. The beer and food (Fish and chips) were very good. All in all would stay here again.

This is the second time we stayed here - and it's the last time they get our business. The room was as one would expect and the meals are very good plus the dining room staff were great. However, we booked a month ahead for 2 nights stay through booking.com. At checkout it was evident that we had been quoted an inflated price. Long story short it became a he said / she said discussion between the booking company and hotel management with both telling me different stories about policy application. Booking.com customer rep and her manager did what they could to negotiate fairly and equitably while front desk clerk and eventually the manager on duty refused to consider offering to match the lower known rate. I find it VERY interesting to read that another reviewer shared: "(the front desk clerk) would put in a request to give us 10% back, when I told her I booked through Expedia I expected her to say she couldn’t do anything but said that wasn’t an issue and would do it and it should show up for us right away. …. she said she was actually going to give us 20%." It sounds like there IS room for discretion. Bottom line - there are other quant hotels in town and lots of other great places to eat.
