We had the most enjoyable visit to the hotel. The front desk staff person was helpful, friendly and very helpful. Very impressed, to a point where we booked another trip and will be staying with you. We had 2 issues, one you can fix, the other perhaps not. You only had one elevator running. This made life difficult as I am disabled and each time the door of the elavator that was working opened, it was jam packed. Very annoying. The other issue was unruly kids in the pool. You have no control over them, but perhaps draft a policy in that kids must be accompanied by an adult.

My sister and I had to fly to Toronto for a funeral for our uncle. We read the reviews on many hotels in the area and chose the Holiday Inn express and we were not disappointed. The rooms are clean the breakfast was fairly good always very hot good strong coffee 24 hours a day. The pool was refreshing and clean. And unlike most of the hotels now in the United States we receive made service every day we were there. Parking was easy and there were many shops close by and mostly important a Walmart down the street

We just got back from another dance competition and we loved this hotel! We had a clean, very spacious and well appointed suite on 7th floor. Safe, fridge, microwave, extra bar sink with countertop and lots of storage. Double sinks with tub and stand up shower in the washroom (the girls were very impressed :)

24 hour coffee available in the lobby along with snacks and ATM were very convenient. Breakfast was included which was great for our early start.

We would not hesitate to stay here again if we are back in the area. Thank you for having us!

Holiday Inn Express was always and everywhere we traveled our hotel of choice. We stayed at the location in Markham every time we visited the area, never with any regrets. That all changed during our last visit, the first one since the pandemic. Nothing was like it used to be. I don't know if it is just this location, or is everywhere, but it was disappointing. I want to mention that the check in was quick and staff were all very friendly and they tried their best with what they had. However, to begin with, we requested specifically in the hotel's app a room away from elevator, and our room was right by the elevator! Then, we booked for 3 persons and in the room we had blankets and bed sheets for only 2, as well as towels for 2 in the washroom. We called the front desk and we were told that they could provide extra for us, but we had to go to pick them up ourselves when we were notified, which took about half hour. We went downstairs at 11 PM and brought them in our room ourselves. Next day, a Saturday, our room was not cleaned at all, beds were not made, towels left on the floor were not replaced, in other words: zero room service. We were told that the hotel did not provide services during weekend anymore, due to staff shortage. When using the pool, there were no towels available and we had to ask again from the front desk. The breakfast buffet had the exact food items for both days, no changes at all (in the past they would alternate sausages with bacon, for example), and staff appeared to minimal at the kitchen. Nobody had time to replenish the food and there was continuously shortage of omelette, for example. I had to wait two rounds in line, about 10 minutes each time, in order to find food available. The staff was running around back and forth between the kitchen and the front food area, in a desperate effort to replenish the food, refill the coffee and empty the garbage, while people were waiting standing around. I thought the staff lady would have a heart attack that day. Also, in our room, we moved the sofa bed closer to the our bed for our small child and we observed that the floor underneath was not cleaned and a lot of dry food crumbs were on the carpet. We also asked about paid movies, since we did not want to watch news station and we planned to have a movie night with our child. We were told that the hotel did not offer anymore any paid movies, only standard tv channels. In all, we had the feeling that once you checked in you are on your own with everything. No services anywhere. Too bad, it was one of our favorite hotels in the area. I don't know what happened, but it really went down! At least, as a minimum, if a hotel is unable to provide 100% of the services, should not charge 100% of the price neither. It did not ruin our trip, but it was just very disappointing and we would not return to this hotel anymore during our next trips to Markham.

This was a very disappointing stay at this location. The mini fridge in our room had left over pizza from the previous guests, the carpet needed to be vacummed, the hair dryer didn't work and there was no body wash in our washroom, overall we were very disappointed and will not recommend anyone to stay there.
The price we paid for was not worth the stay. Very very disappointed!!!

I recently stayed at this hotel and found some significant cleanliness issues. When I removed the pillow covers, I noticed the pillows were old and had visible stains, which appeared to be from previous use. It was disappointing to see that housekeeping was using towels to clean the washroom surfaces instead of proper cleaning supplies. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was decent. While the room initially seemed clean, closer inspection revealed otherwise—the sheets did not appear to have been changed since the last guest, as there was an unpleasant smell. I hope management can address these concerns to improve the guest experience

The late night front desk guy with a bald head is rude. Keep giving us different excuses for not having a room with 2 queen beds. I understand it’s probably because we did not read the fine print when we booked with Priceline but the way he talks is just ridiculous.
He didn’t even mention there would be no housekeeping service unless requested.
Bath towels are very small like kids size.
It’s a 10 story building with only one elevator working. The other one was stuck on the 10th floor for 2 days.
Coffee maker does not work
Mini fridge vibrates loudly.
Bed is too soft and sinks in the middle.
The air conditioner is hard to operate. At 20.5C, it’s too cold. I turned the thermostat to 21.0C. Suddenly it’s blowing warm air (heater on) on a 25C summer night and the room reeks with a burnt smell.
Only good things are the furniture in the room is fairly new and modern. Hotel is in a good location close to highway and everything. Free coffee in the lobby.
Will not stay here again.

In town for a family funeral and stayed here for one week July 17 to 23.
One of two elevators out of order entire stay and in a 10 floor property makes for a busy and long wait for an elevator. Housekeeping was by request which we were fine with but when requested we had to follow up at 4pm to see if we were forgotten about and when they did arrive we only got fresh towels and they didn’t even make up the bed or fresh linens. Free breakfast was satisfactory and no consideration upon checkout for the broken elevator. First time staying here and won’t be back.

I waited for a week to get a reply from the general manager to rectify the issues I faced during my stay at the holiday inn before writing this review and have yet to hear anything. My stay with this hotel was very disappointing experience, however did wanted to mention that the front desk agent Arthur was pleasant and tried to help out. The duration of my stay I had to change room twice after check-in. The first room was not cleaned properly. There was hair on the bathroom counter, the garbage was not changed and the table had crumbs on it. The second room was right beside the elevator which I specified that I was not comfortable with. At that point, I was forced to switch to a suite which I paid for because the front desk could not change or upgrade our reservation due to booking through priceline. The room itself was great but I was not happy with the cleaning standard of the bathroom. There was a used toothbrush in the shower behind the shampoo and conditioner and the sink was not draining properly. I was too tired and irritated to even complain or think about changing to yet another room. I had asked the front desk agent if I can get a late check out which I got but got ruined with the housekeeping knocking on the door at noon. I stay at hotels quite often and I can tell you by far this has been my worst experience for the lack of customer service. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

The hotel didn’t meet my expectations.
My room was “ok”, signs of age and not contemporary design. Very basic.
No laundry bags or a basic vanity kit with cotton earbuds.
I stayed for 7 nights and my room wasn’t cleaned even once. I was told upon checkin that rooms are cleaned every 5 days which is weird if the hotel is fully functional and busy. I know that it’s challenging nowadays to run a hotel and there’s a need to reduce expenses, but still. I had to take out my garbage to the corridor and even then it stayed there for 3 days.
No extra garbage bags provided so I had to use the bin without one and it made a mess.
Breakfast Is reasonable, doesn’t change from day to day.
Overall, not my cup of tea.

The closest subway you can park and ride the subway (TTC) would be Finch Station. This is located 15 minutes from the Hotel.
