Detailed Reviews
I have nothing but great things to say about this resort. We have been going for a few years and absolutely love it. There is so much for the kids to do and the location is amazing.
We stay in cabin #4 and love the space and dishwasher!
Zero complaints. The resort is very well loved and maintained.
Just great family fun!

My partner and I went to this small resort up near Parry Sound, ON. It was really easy to find, just off the major highway. We stayed in Cottage #7. It was a cute, cozy little cottage, perfect size for the two of us, bigger families may not be so comfortable in it. We knew this place would be great as soon as we arrived. The view from our cottage was stunning, just trees and water, what more could you want for a week of unplugging from society! :) There was a tonne to do there - basketball, badminton, volleyball, water trampoline, horseshoes, kayaks, canoes, paddleboats, bonfire, etc. All of those things are shared by all of the cabins (there are 10 I believe) but we never had a problem getting access to what we wanted. This is a family friendly resort, so if you're going to get away from kids this is not the place for you - as there were kids and they liked to play lots. The bonfire is also shared so if you want to have a bonfire know you'll be sitting around it with many others, these two things didn't bother us. The lake and the water was beautiful! Crystal clear, you could see down about 6 feet near the shore and it was clean!! So nice to swim in, warm! Kayaking every day was wonderful! They have 4 kayaks, 3 different kinds. Two canoes - not in the best of shape but still fun! Over all we LOVED this place, it was clean, it was fun, there was never a shortage of things to do. It was so relaxing just sitting on the Muskoka chairs by the beach, or out in the middle of the lake on our kayak - a wonderful getaway for sure!! The only other small thing is that because it's so easy to find, just off the highway, you can hear a bit of traffic, again, this didn't bother us much and our cottage was closest to it. I would highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back! :)

We stayed at Silver Lake Cottages in July 2009 and will be going back this summer for sure! What we liked best about it is that you get the privacy of your own cottage and spend your own time on the beach and dock, but can get people together for a volleyball game or other activities. So makes it a good option for 1 or 2 couples, or a family. It's also possible to rent multiple cottages which we are going to try to do this year.
The grounds are well kept and they allow use of kayaks, canoes, etc. They don't allow jetskis but that wasn't an issue for us and other people and regular motor boats. They might have been cottage owners but not sure.
There were other families there and we just had our first little guy a few months ago and are excited to take him up this year. The beach is perfect as it is shallow at the start, then about 4-5 feet at the buoy line, then drops off nice and deep so great for swimming and no weeds.
Bring some fire wood as they were out when we were there but I think they might stock the firepit area sometimes. And best to bring frosty plastic mugs as they don't allow glass by the beach!

We stayed in Cottage #1 last year and for a week this year in July. The cottage has new owners and they have done a wonderful job of updating the space and replacing all the beds, including the sofa bed (which 3 of us were able to share one night). The cottage although appears small, was extremely spacious inside and can sleep up to 8 people. The cottage was extremely clean and the owners were very kind and easy to deal with, they even left such a cute little 'care' package upon our arrival. We really enjoyed spending our time on the sandy beach and using the variety of boats provided to us. They also have an updated playground, fire pit centre, water trampoline, water slide, and docks. They also have a beach volleyball court and basketball court not to mention they provide life jackets. With a young family it was nice to not have to worry about bringing all of the little extras and to have everything available at our fingertips. This cottage was also at the end of the resort which allowed for extra privacy. We were able to use the new bbq and enjoy dinners on their large patio outlooking the lake. I thoroughly enjoyed out stay and will DEFINITELY be visiting again.

This will be our 4th year back. We love the property. A fantastic beach, playground for the kids, a water trampoline. Best of all you meet new people and your kids have new friends to play with. Silver Lake has become a family tradition we plan to continue for years to come. My wife, kids and I look forward to our week there every year. My family used to own a cottage nearby. Though it has been long sold, I get the opportunity to show my kids the "cottage experience" as best I can.

The Silver Lake Cottages were my accommodations on a recent film shoot. I got to experience three of them throughout my stay - Cabins 6, 7 and 10. Each was clean, bright and comfortable, and such a better alternative to staying in a hotel. The kitchens come complete with everything you need to complete your camp experience (except for the marshmallows and graham crackers). The view of the lake is SPECTACULAR - we were there at the turn of the season and getting up every morning to see how much more green was in the trees was a particular delight.
There's a beach area, immaculately kept. There's a fire pit with wood already split for you. There's paddle boats and badminton sets and other fun stuff stashed away to while the time away. Just get in as the sun is coming down - there's nothing they can do about the blackflies :)
I highly recommend you check this spot out. In my opinion, all of the cabins are a sure winner, and a far superior alternative to the local hotels.

I stayed for a weekend in June of 2011 with some friends in cottage #5 at Silver Lake Resort (SLR) and did not want to leave. Easy to find on a quiet lake with so many available activities it was like staying at my own summer camp. Cottage #5 was clean and spacious with modern equipement (wireless, a widescreen tv, a huge bbq, plumbing, great board games, etc.), the bed was very comfortable though I think it was the fresh air and lack of noise that had me sleeping like a baby (in a loft!). Even with it being early June the water temperature was amazing and I loved the private little beach to monkey around on. I also loved the nightly fires at the central firepit; there is something relaxing about watching a fire burn and chatting. Rain or shine SLR is slice on Ontario paradise and I can't wait to get back up there.

Let's start with the positives! The resort itself is fantastic and very well maintained. There is a ton of stuff for the kids to do including a water trampoline, floating slide and dock. The beach is clean, raked often with lots of chairs to sit and relax. The lake is a nice size, clean water and not too busy. Canoes and kayaks are available for use and the kids caught lots of fish right off the dock. Our family rented 5 of the 10 cottages and can say that other then the one I'm about to discuss they are clean and well cared for.
Cottage 6 however is not safe if you have small children which is why I am posting. The railing to the loft is completely open and a child could slip right though. From the stairs a child could crawl over the wall into the kitchen. There are full length screens in the sunroom with no protection that again a child could fall through. Leading from the kitchen to the living room is a piece of tap on the floor that reads "watch out sharp nails" as there is a gap between the floor boards, (we also found nails in front of the basement door patio window sticking straight up). There is a lot of carpet throughout which is in need of a good cleaning. The amount of dust and dirt in the loft where the children slept was not acceptable. There was also a pile of shavings and dead ants on the floor beside the bed where we slept. I would not recommend renting this cottage, especially at the high price it is. It is big but definitely needs a lot of TLC.
I would recommend the resort and the other cottages as our multiple families had a great time at the resort and will be going back (just not renting cottage 6!).

Well run and maintained resort on a nice lake. The cottages are privately owned and rented. The owners have been very good to deal with. All of the cottages are smaller however we rent 2 at a time for our families. The dock is good for small boats and fishing and the beach is very safe for young kids. Deep water is not too far from the roped off area for the water trampoline, diving platform and slide. A heaven for kids that love the water. Well equipped with water sport equipment and life jackets also. We all love it here.
