Love coming here-so peaceful and quiet. Can stay in cabin or gather around the campfire! We come back every year! It’s our best friends tradition. The food at the Patio is absolutely amazing and all the staff are great! Thank you Wes for sharing your little slice of heaven

I was sad to leave, and now I want to go back. Their restaurant was absolutely fantastic. I had honey and garlic glazed (or some combination like that) ribs and a Caesars salad with homemade (yes homemade!) bacon. It was fantastic. They had canoes and kayaks you could take out for free, and the owner was kind enough to take us on a boat ride to a waterfront restaurant for dinner one night. They were kind enough to lend me a fishing pole, and even though the only fish i caught were about half a pound, it was certainly a fun experience! The best part of the trip were the late-night bonfires which were lit each night. The hostess brought out a s'more packet and found me sticks to roast them with. The owner and hostess are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They even have a collection of a hundred movies or so. I managed to watch 4 of them (which were some of my favorite movies) before I had to leave. I didn't expect the beds of a lodge to be terribly comfortable, but after 4 nights on them I want to take one home and replace my own! I cannot stress enough the magnificence of my stay, and I do hope to return to Parry Sound in the future (just to go back to this place). Overall, GREAT stay!
P.S- The 'swimming pool on the rating sheets happens to be a very, very large lake out front. Highspeed internet is available, but only in the main lodge (restaurant, bar, office, sitting room, sun room), not the cabins.

This past week on November 19, 2013, Glenn Burney Lodge burned to the ground. The only thing left is the chimney of the fireplace. This is a huge loss not only to the owners but to all of us who loved this place and either stayed there or dropped in for some of the most wonderful meals. The old place will be missed and we can only hope that it will be rebuilt.
I will add my post-mortem evaluation to this wonderful place in spite of this terrible event.

We had dinner on the patio which was very good. Service and food was excellent. We booked a cabin for overnight and were more than disappointed. The cabin was in very poor repair....front screen door was missing the bottom 4 inches of the door and the screens were ripped and torn. After paying a $50 room cleaning upcharge which I cannot see mentioned on their website nor was mentioned at the time of booking we were surprised to find find cobwebs and mold around the windows in both the bathroom and the bedroom. I would recommend the restaurant but not the lodgings . The next time we are in town we will sleep elsewhere.

Booked all 4 cabins for family members to stay in. Thoroughly disappointed. There is no lodge and it looks like a trailer park when you drive in. The cabins are poorly maintained, small, and as my son said "looks like staff quarters". The high cleaning fee is totally unwarranted as there were crumbs in the cupboards and, as previously mentioned by other reviews, mould, cobwebs, etc. Website misrepresentation all around! As well, poor communication issues in dealing with Wes. I thought I would forgo Air Bnb's extra fees etc. and work with the 'resort' itself. This did not happen and my booking went through Air BnB anyways with the high cleaning fees. Still waiting on a proper invoice for one of the cabins. A "let down" is being nice. Would not recommend and I rarely leave reviews on line but felt I needed to.

The worst, I never write bad reviews but I am compelled, omg. Just look in the kitchen in ur way in and you decide, bad vibe. low budget. Need some inspection agency in there, omg, I was so disgusted and the owner is the most impersonal person ever

If only he owners could clean it up and update the website, it wouldn't be so bad. I would have given a better rating if it were called Glenn Burney cabins in the woods. The website is completely outdated. The lodge burned down and we were under the impression (from the photos and services offered on website) that there must be a new rebuilt lodge. Sadly, we were greeted by piles of garbage and bottles and cans laying about before we found our way to the patio down at the bottom of a long descending boardwalk. There, we were greeted and shown back up the long boardwalk and uphill some more to our cabin. The cabin itself was clean and had basic supplies but I would not have paid $199 to stay there had I known it was way up in the woods with no access to the water below. There was a bad odour wafting our way which we later found out was coming from a leaking sewage pipe a few cabins over. Luckily we had food with us because we were planning on having breakfast at the lodge and the patio did not open until noon, one hour after checkout. Our plan to have a nice break, go swimming and relax was not to be. Too bad, all they need to do is clean up the property, update their website and be honest about what they offer.

The Glen Burny Lodge is located in the woods, a little outside of Parry Sound, right at the Georgian Bay. We stayed there for one night (actually we had planned to stay for 2).
PRO:
- the location is really beautiful and the staff was friendly and helpful.
- the dining room is very nice and overviews the lake
- the room's technical equipment was very good (if you attach importance to that):
microwave, big flatscreen, fridge, coffee maker, wi-fi
CON:
- the PRICE!!
- the ground seemed a little bedraggled
- the hygienical conditions: for us, the morst important thing is, that a room is clean. Therefor we would rather do without the tv. on the face of it, everything seemed ok, but on closer inspection you could see that the cleaning had been done (has it been done at all?) very sketchily.
the towels were filthy and so was the bedding, the fridge was dirty on the inside. the same impression in the bathroom.
the "best" was the full diaper on a chair on the balcony - that made us sure, that the room wasn't looked after.
We stayed one night and that was more than enough.
The Glen Burny Lodge has the charm of a holiday camp for teenagers - and if the price was appropiate to that (60-80 dollars maybe) - we would have been satisfied.
Unfortunately the room was more expensive than a room in the Hilton Hotel at the Niagarafalls and that is just ridiculous.

My husband and I stayed here one night, on our way to our cottage. (It's a 7hr drive from our home to our cottage, and we almost always do it in one shot. But we decided to try leaving the night before and staying at a hotel about half way, so we'd arrive sooner the next morning, rested and relaxed.)
We certainly weren't interested in a low-budget, chain motel/hotel, with their floral polyester bedspreads, tiny rooms, and lack of anything special. Based on the good reviews, and decent-looking photographs, I selected this hotel for our little, overnight experiment.
What a waste of time.
It's difficult to write an fair review, since this place is meant to be rustic, and is a lodge, far away from any metropolitan area. Maybe they don't have enough guests willing to pay the kind of price that would allow for better amenities? Maybe they're working towards that? Maybe this is the best they can do? Who knows? For my part, I always look for 5-star (or better), when I stay at hotels, and am a bit disappointed when that's not available. I knew this wouldn't be grand, but it was disappointing, all the same. I had the impression this was one of the better hotels in the area, and my experience there left me questioning if there are any "decent" hotels in this region, at all.
I requested the best available room and, if memory serves me, that was around $160/night or so. What we got was a small, somewhat updated room with a queen sized (!!!) bed, in a cabin-like building, with a bathroom straight out of the 60s (complete with "debris" in the tub), and a television that didn't work. (We watched a bit of television on my iPad, instead.)
There was nothing really "wrong" with the room. It just wasn't very nice. The photographs make it look better than it is.
I can imagine that if your only expectation is a room with a bed, running water, and no pests, then you will find that here. If you're city-bound, and have to stay at a place like this to experience nature, then you may also find this woodsy place charming.
For me, I prefer luxury and amenities. I happily pay for that. But it is seemingly hard to find in this region (besides maybe Muskoka). What we were looking for was a "nice" experience...to make it worth the money and effort, on the way to our own cottage. This place simply had nothing to entice us back.
If the room, especially the bathroom, were a bit nicer, I would give it a 3 out of 5.
Make no mistake. This is not a luxurious, little lodge in the woods. It's marginally better than any ol' roadside motel....maybe better views.

My friend and I were recently recommended we stay at the Glenn Burney Lodge for a weekend getaway... Best decision made so far all summer. The location is fabulous, it's quiet and right on by the water and only 10 minute drive from town. The rooms are cozy and the staff are fantastic, they're super helpful and friendly!!
But, I'd have to say, my favorite part of it all was the food... It is to die for. We ate there every night. First of all the dining room is beautiful. we got to watch the sun set during dinner! the menu isn't overwhelmingly long making it a lot easier to read, the portion sizes are perfect, and the wine... Ahh the wine was very very nice.
Overall, we had an amazing expierence and can't wait to go back!!!!!
