From the arrival, to the departure, everything was perfect!! We gphad rented a cottage( Willow).
The cottage was well equiped, clean, and comfortable. The use of the kayaks, and canoes made for a fun weekend. We had dinner the first night . The menu had a variety to suite anyones palette. I had the Butter chicken. It was delicious. We had a fire at night at one of the pits. It was equipped with wood, and it was well situated on the beach. All the staff was friendly, informative, and ready to make any situation happy. We had celebrated a Birthday, and hadnt brought a cake, so the restaurant put a lovely brownie cake at a fair price. It was yummy. My family, and I would like to return in the future. Thanks Grand Tappatoo!!!!!

The view from our room was amazing. The service was horrible we spent 4 night and not once did anyone come in and give us more towels and make the beds or give us more tea or coffee. It’s a 10min drive into town which is really nice as we forgot a few things plus went in to town for dinners as we brought our own lunches. Complementary Breakfast which was a disappointment and they bring you a bill(which was completely disgusting) we were going to leave a tip to the server anyways but we didn’t end up leaving as much as we would have. We had one dinner there and it was over $150 for two kids and two adults only one adult had 1 adult beverage plus the food wasn’t that great not for what it cost us. You can only have your own adult beverages in your room you can’t take them anywhere else on the property. The beach was great and they have all kinds of paddle boards, kayaks, canoes to use for free. They have a dock you can use for your own personal boat we had our seadoo but kept it at our friends cottage down the road. They have a pontoon that can take you out for 2 hours for $200 if they have someone on staff that can caption it. The pool is great with the sauna, open from 10am-10pm there is an outdoor sauna but was closed. The staff seemed all brand new no one seemed to be there very long all we kept here is “I’m so sorry I’m new give me a moment”.
For the price you pay I would expect better service even with covid leave the items out in the hall.
And the food either lower the prices or have better quality!

It was a nice place to stay the water was really warm and nice to swim in. They had free kayaks and canoes. The food at the restaurant was really good but when asked for a porn star drink they didn't know what that was and they over charged. The rooms could use q little updating maybe fresh paint new pull out couches etc. Cant walk around with ur own alcohol but can if you buy it from them which ain't right. Your not allowed to BBQ or anything and no microwaves in the suites. We rented a room a king suite for my wife's bday and wanted to stay another night and was advised we would have to wait until 4pm to get into a room with 2 queen beds and if we decided to have anyone would be 20.00 per person eben children the girl ar front was nice but didn't know alot.

Hello pbenoi887123, Thank you for your review of our resort. We appreciate all feedback and take it into consideration. We're sorry you felt that you were overcharged for your beverage, however we do set our prices based on our cost of doing business. Each year we continue to upgrade and improve our rooms and facilities - this year that included new beds in all our hotel rooms. All guests are informed on their confirmation and on check-in that personal alcohol is not permitted anywhere on resort other than in private guest accommodations - this is in accordance with our liquor licence. Rooms do not come with microwaves and we do not permit guests to cook their own food on resort, unless they have booked a cottage, this is because we operate as a full service resort with accommodation, recreation facilities and dining. We continue to try to improve communication of our resort policies with our guests. Once again, thank you for your sharing your feedback with us and we would appreciate the opportunity to have you join us again in the future.

Our experience was mixed...

On the one hand we really enjoyed the beach, the small homey feeling of the resort grounds, the friendliness of most staff, the selection of boats/watercrafts, and the level to which things were cleaned and sanitized (kudos on all those!)

At the same time we were pretty disappointed with the initial appearnace of the resort entry way and pool changerooms (lots of dust, construction and supplies everywhere). The cable on the TV wasn't working (leaving us with about 6 channels to watch...most of which were news channels). The WiFi was weak so we couldn't connect to their network. The guest information books were removed from all the rooms but nothing was put in their place so we had to rely on a lot of calls to the front desk (this kept the front desk staff very busy with resort guests constantly calling reception for help or information). And as you might have guessed, an overwhelmed front desk meant one worker was noticeably tired and unhappy to interact with guests. Although i didnt have any incidents, one of my family members wasn't happy with their customer service.

I will start by saying the only decent thing about this place is the beach area. We filled out the client info card prior to arriving saying our estimated time of arrival. When we arrived at the resort after a 4 hour drive at 2pm my two and four year old children were both DONE with the car and we were eager to check in. When I went to the front desk the young woman seemed highly irritated with ZERO customer service/hospitality skills. She acted as if my presence was a chore and almost seemed to roll her eyes with any questions I had. When I asked if any rooms were available yet, she replied, "I don't know, it isn't 4pm yet", and that we were not able to check in. I asked if at 4pm then everyone must run to the office to grab keys at the same time during covid? Other guests were laughing and shaking their heads as to the absurd check in routine/poor customer service. She didn't hesitate to remind me that although we could not check in, we could not eat our personal food from our cooler outside our room. When we did eventually get our room, she gave me the wrong room # (which didn't exist) and my family and I wandered around for another half hour looking for it. When we did finally get to our room (a suite) it was very old, dirty and musty. Every window/patio door was broken or didn't open/close properly with little yellow sticky notes advising caution. The carpet was torn and coming up in areas. Clumps of hair under the bathroom door. We just tried to stay out of our room as much as possible. When checking out I heard a woman complaining about her bad experience at the restaurant to the same woman at the front desk, to which I heard her reply, "Schnitzel can be hit or miss". 😂 When we checked out and went to another hotel in Parry Sound we arrived at 2pm and were greeted in a friendly manner and were immediately checked into our clean rooms. Needless to say, we will never go back.

Hello Tamesmanes, First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to write review. We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your stay. Our check-in time is 4:00PM and we are not able to guarantee an early check-in - even if it is requested on the reservation. We have an enhanced cleaning and disinfecting routine that is performed on every room prior to the arrival of our guests, and this takes time. I am disappointed to hear that you didn't receive exceptional and friendly service, however, and this will be brought to the attention of all front desk agents. To answer your question regarding people crowding the lobby at 4PM this is not typically the case as we have floor markings for physical distancing and request guests to fill out their COVID-19 surveys and registration cards in advance for a quick and contactless check-in. The room issues come as a surprise to us as we do not have records of the concerns mentioned being reported to front desk. Given the issues you have mentioned such as the damaged doors and cleaning oversights we would have rectified that immediately. We are glad that you did enjoy your stay and 2PM check-in time in Parry Sound

We spent 2 relaxing nights at Grand Tappattoo Resort. The location feels very remote and quiet but is only 2 hours from Toronto and 10 minutes from Parry Sound. The facilities and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There is a large heated pool and sauna as well as a fully equipped fitness room. The beautiful, clean beach has many lounge chairs and umbrellas. Kayaks, canoes and paddle boats are available free to guests. All the rooms have a new large screen TV with many channels as well as on demand movies, TV shows The WiFi is fast and reliable. The staff where very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was very fresh and had a great selection. The dining room has a great view overlooking the lake and beach (great sun sets). Dinner menu has a good selection of entrees, appetizers and desserts. We look forward to our next visit!

We had a very nice stay at this resort in August. Our room was spacious and clean, overlooking the beach & lake. Included use of kayaks & paddle boards was a very nice touch. We also enjoyed sunsets while having dinners on a restaurant’s patio. Food was delicious and reasonably priced & after dinner we roasted marshmallows on a campfire. Parry Sound is just a short drive away so location of this resort is great.

We had booked a deluxe (larger) room but the number of stairs to our room proved daunting for our knees. We were switched to a standard room with just 3 steps in an older building on the property. The room was fine, but the rug was dirty and not vacuumed. The bathtub was dirty, with hair from previous guests found, as well as stains on the light switch that I first thought was blood. The room itself was decorated nicely, with pretty bedspreads. The a/c worked well, and there was a fireplace that we didn’t use.
There is a sandy beach and fairly shallow access to Otter Lake. We had stayed here several times about 20 years ago, and we were disappointed in the upkeep of the pool and sauna area. The safety rail at the stairs to enter the pool was very wobbly, with a small pipe taped under the rail in an attempt to make it steady. Not safe! The sauna just wasn’t working, with the controls taped to the wall outside the door. I wouldn’t attempt to use it, as it appears to be a fire hazard. The pool is still lovely, but the torn and patched pool cover was unsightly. When we stayed here years ago there was a wall of french doors that opened to a beautiful view of the lake; the doors no longer open and latches are rusted. There were a number of families staying here during our visit and they mostly used the beach and waterfront, so perhaps the pool wasn’t an issue for them.
Note: when I checked for travel directions to Tapatoo some discount travel sites popped up and I was shocked at the difference between what we paid (279$ for deluxe room, 252$ for the standard we switched to) and the discount price which was about 50% less. I mentioned this at reception and I asked if I had received the best discount (which was the senior discount) and was told that was the price.
Note 2: the property itself is lovely, and the staff could be seen diligently cleaning and maintaining the site.
Note 3: we had dinner at the Forest restaurant in the main building, and our orders of fish & chips, and a chicken avocado sandwich were tasty and generous in size, with a side of a very tasty green salad filled with the usual ingredients as well as a variety of peppers. Really great!

Looking for some R&R, peaceful setting. Looking at the picture asked for a Rm on 2nd floor, reviews stated too many stairs. Assumed it would be on the 2nd floor in the picture to the R.. Asked about view of the Lake told views on top floor were better. Pic. might be old but still looked serene. Decided on 2nd flr--( quoted price of $139 on phone call as they had no dining room just patio service etc. Very strict on Covid regulations, which we liked.. On our arrival told rm. would be in Bldg 2, 2nd Flr.. The Blding ( 2 of them) Appeared very old and "bunker like" There were recycle bins to the entire front, the lwr floors were used for maintenance storage, view was of back of the main bldg, and 3-4 storage or propane tanks, parking lot,! around the corner a construction site, the eavestrough was hanging down. small slice view of the lake. Rm. however, was very clean and large, the furniture tired, Cleaning staff excellent. The bottom step of our entrance was very high from grnd, good tripping point on way down, railing to dock stair was loose. The beach was small, our day of arrival, filled with families and small children, not one chair available & 2 broken umbrellas. No area with shady relaxing spots. No R&R! Onsite dining rm was the saving grace, it had a huge front deck and fairly updated. Mentioned rate when departing however, statement did not show. Decided to chalk this up to just an
"experience".Place needs some TLC etc,Staff hard working. Isolated Not for us.

We stay in a cottage on the resort property which was well stocked, air conditioned and spotless. Any amenities we wanted in addition to what was already there, was supplied with a quick call to the front desk. Trevor and Amanda are gracious hosts, looking out for the best interest of their guests. The front desk is always very helpful.
