Cozy cottage with a modern hippie/bohemian vibe. Very spacious open air rooms from the dinning are, to the kitchen and sitting areas. Our bed was supper comfy. Love the little attention to details with a diffuser and essential oil for an added restful sleep. The Hosts were very gracious and welcoming.

I have had the pleasure of staying at Harmony Outdoor Inn twice. Once in the Bed & Breakfast and once in the Glamping Tents. Both times I have had a great experience! It is a real gem, the property is beautiful with a perfect waterfront to swim, relax on the dock or in a hammock. You can take a kayak or paddle board out. The owners Dympna and James are so welcoming and they really want you to enjoy your time there. Our group went out for a day on their Georgian Bay Kayaking Trip that we were able to arrange last minute when our prior plans were unexpectantly cancelled. Our guide Joedy was the best, she gave us great paddling instructions and guided us for a full day over to Franklin Island. I will recommend Harmony Outdoor Inn to family and friends.

We just returned from 2 nights in a glamping tent at Harmony. It has lots of things going for it, and I wish I could recommend it. However, I would never return or encourage anyone else to stay there. The main issue was the noise and proximity to the highway. The inn is almost adjacent to the 400 hwy and a central rail track. You are close enough to the highway that you can read the logos on the trucks when you are on the dock. The noise from the many trains (10+ each night) which blew their whistles as they pass through town and the persistent highway traffic noise made sleep almost impossible. I live in an urban environment and am surrounded by traffic noise. I don't need complete silence to sleep. The inn provides guests with disposable ear plugs to combat the train noise - these were completely ineffective. The owners are clearly aware of the noise issues. Unfortunately this is never communicated to patrons in advance - either before they book or in the very detailed information email Harmony sent out before our stay. Many other patrons had the same experience as us, and we all lamented on the fact that had we known before we came, we either would not have booked here, or, at the very least, would have brought noise cancelling devices. The other issue was the outhouse. Ours was very smelly and not very clean. It did not meet the standard I would have expected given the price point for this glamping experience. Otherwise, the property is quite nice.

It was very difficult to sleep because the property is sandwiched between Trans Canada Highway on one side and the active train railroad on another. There are approximately 30 trains that run through Perry Sound area daily, and they are required to honk at the crossings. The scenery was very beautiful, but the noise of the passing by cars and trucks on the highway as well as the trains did not allow me to relax. I live in a big city and I come up north to relax. I will not be coming again. I wish I was told about the noise issue. If I was I would not have stayed here. I don't understand how the place can be called Harmony Inn if there is so much noise pollution all around.

We stayed only one night at the Inn while taking in some concerts at the Festival. It was absolutely delightful. A beautiful, comfortable home, welcoming interesting hosts, friendly dog, comfortable bed, delicious healthy breakfast, complimentary kayaks, lovely little beach all in a beautiful forest environment. Wonderfully situated close to town. Unfortunately also close to the 400 hwy but it really did not bother us.

B & B was excellent. Very clean and cozy. Location was great. Family dog Mollie was a joy and greeted us regularly. Even though weather was not the greatest it was still a very pleasant few days away.

The staff at the Inn went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable. They are always available and they aren't overbearing! James and Eric are very kind. The B&B is beautiful, eclectic, cozy, and comes with Molly (a beautiful and cuddly dog)! You can unplug or connect, as they have free WiFi available. Nice option! The Superior room is quaint, with modern and clean washroom amenities. The self serve breakfast that was provided was DELICIOUS (I need the waffle recipe and maker now) and the live chickens are 10/10 - so great, from eating their eggs to going and visiting them in the yard. The house was a perfect spot to hang out when the weather wasn't very friendly. The property is stunning and when the water is calm, it is a perfect lake (for a beginner like me) to go out for a rip on a canoe or kayak. So grateful that they provide water sport gear, hammocks, and a fire pit by the lovely beach/dock! Absolutely cannot wait for our next weekend up at Harmony!! Excited to try a tent this time.

We visited Harmony Outdoor Inn for 2 nights in June and has occupied two of the tents. It was our first time glamping and what a wonderful experience it was. James & team made our stay very comfortable. The property is very well maintained and our stay was quite comfortable. Property is neat and the team is excellent. It sure was the most comfortable way of camping! Parry Sound itself is a wonderful town and the property is located very close to all necessities (wallmart/sobeys/Tim’s/Starbucks/Marks..). We also did the guided Kayak tour with James and it was great as well.

I would not stay here again. Harmony Outdoor Inn is more of a camping hostel complete with instructions to strip the sheets off your bed and sweep out your tent upon departure. This does not meet the standard of glamping - showers have a bad odour, no running water in the kitchen, outhouses instead of toilets etc. No one greeted me upon arrival at 6:30 pm and although I phoned and rang the bell at the main house, there was no one around and no note / instructions left for me. I located my tent and was shown the location of facilities by another guest. The Inn's phone line does not accept messages so I emailed a request for the water reservoir to be refilled on the second day. Such things should be monitored and topped up but there were no staff about. As the request was ignored, I tracked down someone loading kayaks in the parking lot just before dark and asked for his help to refill the reservoir. That was my sole interaction with anyone who worked there. Very odd. Most importantly, the Inn should publicize the fact that sleep will be affected by the sounds of heavy train traffic complete with hornblowing and road traffic on the busy Hwy 400 which is close enough to see from the property. They do provide earplugs which was my early clue that I would not be getting a good night's rest. The earplugs were somewhat helpful but not enough to mask the horn blasts. I now see from a response to other review complaints that the owners defend the train noise as being a matter of Parry Sound's proud heritage. That is not the point; they should disclose that the Inn is situated in a very noisy location and let their customers decide if that matters or not. Since this is a place that people intend to use for sleep, excessive noise is a consideration. The tent was fine (screens need repair), the site is pretty and the beach and waterfront are the highlight. Not at all worth $160/night. For $175 you can stay at the nearby Comfort Inn, a place to charge your phone overnight, have a private bathroom with running water and a good night's sleep so you can enjoy your day (they also change the beds and clean the room after you leave). Or for $40, you can camp at Killbear Provincial Park have the same or better amenities as Harmony Outdoor Inn - just bring your own tent.

Response from James Roberts, Owner at Harmony Outdoor Inn
Responded Feb 21, 2022
Hello Jacqueline, thank you for coming to stay with us at Harmony Outdoor Inn. I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your start with us as much as most people do. As we are conveniently located close to the town of Parry Sound which is close to HWY 400 on some nights there will be more noise from the road than others. We wish we could do something about this but it is out of our control. We have lots of comments about how nice it is to sleep in a tent and listen to the rain and the birds so I guess it just depends on if a tent is for you or not. We are priced the way we are because we are a completely different experience than a Comfort Inn. You are right that you can charge your phone and have a private ensuite there but what we offer is more of an experience than just a night. We have a communal kitchen area where guests meet each other and share stories or a bottle of wine and charge their phones. We are the only waterfront accommodation in town and offer free use of kayaks, SUP and canoes. You can also just choose to sit in one of our many Muskoka chairs or hammocks. You can't prepare yourself a meal at the Comfort Inn but we supply everything for each tent to prepare meals during their stay. I acknoledge that Harmony Outdoor Inn isn't for everyone and we strongly discourage people who are light sleepers or people who want to be close to their car or who would rather watch TV than listen to the rain on the tent. This is a unique expereience that many people enjoy. Thanks again for your stay.
