We originally planned to go outside Canada for our wedding anniversary but due to some travel restrictions we have decided to make a road trip up north in Ontario. Aiming to preserve our loyalty with Hilton Honors, we have picked Hampton Inn by Midland, which is a perfect location as we wanted to visit Barrie and Collingwood as well.
a. Location -> it is centrally located in Midland and near to establishments like restaurant, grocery stores and gas station. The place looks generally safe even at night and it is pretty quiet even it is beside the road.
b. Price -> the cost is reasonable considering the breakfast was included as well as the parking.
c. Amenities -> the inn has a pool and gym, which is nice to have.
d. Room -> we stayed in a double queen bed set up and since the hotel is relatively new, it was very clean, the pillows and beds were comfortable and you can still feel/smell of its freshness. TV is working fine, the bathroom has an ample space and a lot of towels. The only thing we had a minor issue is with the aircon, it is kinda confusing when you try to set the temp higher (around 23.5C), it will produce heat. It also stops and then resumes on its own. Maybe we just don't know how to operate :-)
e. Staff -> warm and always smiling. We were also able to check in earlier, maybe past 12noon than the standard time of 4pm. Although i picked the room via mobile app, we were assigned to a different room, which is not an issue, coz it is basically the same.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, even though, we are almost outside the hotel as we visited different places nearby. But coming back to hotel, gave us the rest we really needed after a long and tiring day.

Awesome hotel, brand new, exceptional front desk service. Well located near to many shops and restaurants. Room was good size, very comfortable queen size beds, spacious and very clean bathroom. The conditionner dispenser fell while showering and it was fixed asap, even with a no needed apology card.

Our group of bicycling friends stayed here for 2 nights in May. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast had sufficient choices. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful, particularly Imran, who seemed to work night and day. We worried that the tiny storage room was a bit too small for all our bikes but Imran's flexibility helped us figure out how to store all our bikes safely. A drawback was that windows don't open for fresh air, but I guess that's a Hilton thing. Laundry facilities were appreciated after a heavy rain.

The stay started out fine. The online check in/key was great as we were able to bypass front desk and head right to our room. Unfortunately that’s where the “great” ended.

We woke up the next morning to a fridge full of frozen food. On our way out (cleaning service was every 2nd day), I requested our garbage be changed or at very least for bags to change it myself to remove the frozen food. I received neither.

Later that night when we returned my kids went swimming and my son cut his toe in the pool. I’m not sure how often it’s cleaned and may have been a fluke but this was also disappointing.

That night was when things really shifted to terrible and unacceptable. Yes, we were there as a team and yes, I will admit our kids may not have acted perfect at all times (although pretty darn good and had a 9:30pm curfew). However, we were one of five teams staying at the hotel that weekend and the majority of our time was spent at the Diamond, out for supper and then enjoying birthday treats in the front lobby while watching the Oilers game (note, we were unable to book a meeting room). That didn’t stop the front desk staff from yelling/swearing at our kids (making them cry) and then disrespecting a few of our parents when we tried to question this. Yes, I’m sure you’re wondering if the kids would make this up, but the irony is that I spoke with a parent of another team unsolicited and they had the exact story about their kids being swore at as well.

Upon speaking with the GM, Colleen she was not willing to accept any of the story. Her staff would apparently never do that. After nearly 25minutes on the phone the conversation had gone nowhere and she still had yet to take any responsibility, apologize or try to rectify/acknowledge the situation. The combative approach was appalling. She eventually offered me $50 off my $500 stay which honestly the least of my worries. I did ask to speak with her manager and she advised she would not offer their contact info, but would pass along mine and they would call me if they thought it was “worth it”. It’s been nearly a week with no call.

Unfortunately I do believe that the poor customer service stems from the top here and I can’t really blame the front desk staff for being terrible at their jobs- it appears it’s part of the culture and training.

So yes the hotel is new and clean (yet walls are paper thin). The breakfast was decent minus the coffee - but you can only hope you don’t ever have to speak with anyone or require any additional service or will be in trouble!

We stayed here with my sister and her husband Wonderful stay at this new hotel. Staff were very friendly. On line check in is convenient. Rooms very very nice and beds and pillows very comfy. Hot breakfast with lots of choice. Room cleaning etc is on a ‘request basis’ which is great as it saves washing towels and bedding every day and saves energy. Close to Boston pizza or walk to Kelsey’s next door. Short drive to Balm Beach.
Will definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at this hotel many times now for business travel. It is relatively new and my stays have been consistently good. As hotels in Midland go, this is a great option. I do wish they would consistently offer the egg omelettes every morning ( oftentimes there is only scrambled eggs), as it is a potential differentiator from breakfast at the surrounding hotels. Special shout out to Imran at the front desk who is always kind and helpful and makes check in a breeze.

I have to say I don't write reviews often but I feel this one is definitely needed. We (4 women) showed up on bicycles (170 km Simcoe Loop adventure) and we were soaked, muddy, tired and cold after being caught in a storm. The manager welcomed us with a great smile and checked us in promptly and stored our bikes in a secure area. We were given extra blankets and reassured if we needed anything to make sure we called. If cycling I highly recommend this hotel as a stop on the route. The breakfast was hot and plentiful, beds were comfy, bathroom amenities were amazing and the staff are top notch. Well done ladies we appreciate the support and smiles.

We stayed here January 31-February 2, 2025 for a hockey tournament. First off when checking in we had to sign an agreement. I’ll post a picture of the agreement. I feel like only hockey families had to sign this. There were multiple hockey teams this weekend and the kids couldn’t play mini sticks, I asked for a conference room and they said “no, those rooms are only for meetings”. What a joke of a hotel! The kids were 8-10 years old and we were treated like prisoners. They actually hired a security guard for the Friday and Saturday night lol
Security was at the swimming pool watching the kids all evening.
On Saturday night we headed across the street to the quality Inn where a few members of our team were staying. The quality inn actually told the kids, go play mini sticks and have fun! They gave us an area in the lobby to have a pizza party.
If you are a part of a team don’t bother booking here. Hampton In has forsure lost a few customers because of this. We won’t be back. We will book at the Quality Inn across the street next time!
Shame on you Hampton Inn Midland!

Very nice, very comfortable and clean. Continental breakfast was great. Eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, ham along with usual cereal, waffles, etc. Be sure to go to Mom's Restaurant nearby for a great meal at reasonable prices. Specialty is prime rib.

I grew up in the area and have stayed in every hotel on this list along with most B&Bs that have come and gone over 30 years.

I have now stayed at the Midland Hampton over a dozen times so far this year alone…and there’s a reason.

I’m on a first name basis with the GM and most of her staff. Booking and checkout is a breeze. Every stay is comfortable and hassle free…and the clean new facilities throughout the property are top notch. I chuckle at some of these other misleading reviews. Don’t kid yourself. I can assure you the other options at this level are slim to none in the immediate area. Feel free to travel to Port Severn or elsewhere further for a much higher rate. Do your homework before you book elsewhere…
