It's not a bad lodging at all, the staff were friendly and the room was clean & comfortable but this was the most expensive accommodation I stayed at during a travelling around Northern Ontario, it was around $150 altogether for one night. I stayed at some nicer downtown hotels in Sault Ste Marie, Sudbury, Thunder Bay for $90-$110 so I just thought the Marathon Harbour Inn a bit expensive for what it was. If you're ok to pay a bit more here than in one of the bigger cities than go for it.

A clean & quiet hotel, but VERY expensive for what it is. No coffee in the rooms, no plug-ins for vehicles, still has carpeted floors & bedspreads.

No printed receipts provided - either you give them your email address, or you don't get a receipt of any kind (even for the credit card charge).

Dim lighting in the rooms (only one light bulb in each fixture that was designed for two bulbs).

I rated it at good because of the check in and out times. I went there at 2:30 pm. The front desk was closed. A lady came to the door and told me to come back at 3:00 they were cleaning the rooms. I was wondering why or how they can clean all the rooms at once. I asked so no room is finished cleaning? No. Come back at 3:00.
While I was checking in at 3:05 I was told that check out time was 9:00 am! That’s the earliest check out time I’ve ever encountered. They are very strict with that. They really don’t want you to go to the front desk. It’s August and they’re still acting like a full Covid lockdown. They email your receipt and you just leave the key in the room.
There’s a large refrigerator in the common area which was helpful. There’s also a microwave and ice maker. The beds we’re comfortable and room was clean. We’ll they do have 6 hours to clean it.
The shower has a water saver on it so the spray is really weak. I could probably piss harder than the shower.
I don’t know why it’s called Harbour Inn. There’s no harbour anywhere near it.
I found it a little pricey.

150 dollars for a small town, unattractive motel, where you must arrive before 830 and be gone by 9? Worse yet, no coffee anywhere in the morning, apparently because of COVID-19 - cmon, really?…

The name is also misleading. I expected a harbour view, silly me, I guess, but nothing scenic about this place, it is in the middle of a truck dealership or something else mechanical or industrial. To be fair, room is clean and fine, other than the coffee issue that everyone else seems able to offer, but management seems to have let the power they feel they have as motel owners go to their heads. I suggest looking look for someone who understands the concept of customer service.

Choices in Marathon were limited and I selected this place after talking to the hotel. Located on the main road in town coming down from the highway.

Our room was small and had a King Bed, we were expecting a Queen so that was nice. But the trade off was it made the room smaller. The room and bathroom were very clean and well kept, we were impressed. Bathroom had a decent sized counter. We had a fridge in the room. Hotel was NS and no pets. We were in building 2 which is next door to the building with the office.

Some cons most driven by lack of space. No desk, so no really good place to put a lap top. Only one chair in the unit, problematic for 2 people. Only one night stand. No way luggage could fit in the closet area when opened. There was no in room coffee.

Bed was comfortable and the room was quiet.

Staff was accommodating, I was given access to the main building with my key card to get ice as the machine in our building was not working.

We had a decent one night stay and I'd stay here again if in Marathon. It is just knowing what you're getting.

As others have noted the front desk shuts down early.
The check-out time is a strict 9:00 AM which is very silly - you can't clean all rooms at once.
And don't be fooled by the name - there is no harbour anywhere near the premises.

Room Tip: No coffee machine! The A&W opened late due to staffing shortages. Go to Tim Horton's for coffee.

Nothing special. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Probably a very nice motel in its day. Continental breakfast was available if you chose to have it. There was an odour in the motel and the room when you first stepped in that seemed to fade or we just got used to it.

Room was very clean and AC works great. No view of any water, had to go to Tim Horton’s down the road as room has no coffee. Have to be there by 8:30 pm to check in or else you are charged for your room and can’t access it so better not be late. Must check out by 9 am which may be an issue for some.

For being in such a remote part of Ontario the Marathon Harbour Inn was a perfect place to stay. Very very clean with all COVID cautions in place. Room had all you required including small fridge, WiFi and a hair dryer! We were very happy with our stay and would definitely stay again. Thank you.

Acceptable accommodation but very pricey for what it is. Checked in and it seems I was given a room in the older section. I was told the patio next door got loud and sure enough, even though I’m pretty sure I was the only guest on the place, my room faced the noises patio and listened to loud voices until 2 am.

Not that it impacted me as I left early, but they have a 9:00 am check out time. That’s something I’m not used to.
