Travellers' Choice
Immerse yourself in the historic charm of The Walper Hotel, an iconic 1893 landmark set along the quaint streets of one of Kitchener, Ontario's oldest neighbourhoods. You'll be captivated by this building's amazing past, and charmed by its contemporary flare. From Eleanor Roosevelt's preferred breakfast location on the interior terrace to Lennox Lewis' boxing match in the Crystal Ballroom, to the tales of Al Capone's liquor smuggling operation in the cavernous basement restaurant, every nook and cranny in this Waterloo hotel has a story to tell.

This is a unique hotel, with a retro vibe. Clean large rooms, friendly staff and fantastic location with walking distance to several eateries and the market, comedy club. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Attentive concierge. Beautiful room decorations. Breakfast is very good value. My one thing is that you can hear stuff through the walls. Should be better sound insulated. I think the breakfast was very good. Recommend

Visiting Kitchener for a show and wanted to be close to venue. Chose the Walper for its character and location. We were treated great and very pleased with everything. Highly recommended. Great choices for food in the building and close by.

The front desk went so far beyond what anyone should expect that I can't say enough wonderful things about them. I asked them for help retrieving my truck which was stuck in the country and they found someone to plough the snow and a tow truck to get the vehicle out. Extraordinary service!

Great staff, very friendly. Good rooms with clean room and bathroom. Parking available which is good for downtown location. Very good atmosphere. Staff makes you feel at home instantly. Reatauramt closes at 22:00 but locally great choice of eating out options on walking distance. Luxury hotel with nice original touch from historic building

If you need quiet and a dark room, this may not be the place for you. Homeless partying and fighting in the street right outside window. All noise is amplified due to narrow roads. Maybe for one night, but certainly not for a week. Food was ok. Gym is average. No pool or hottub.

Stayed here after a meeting in Kitchener. The Hotel was excellent. From the staff to the room and the location it couldn't have been better. The atmosphere in the hotel and the room were more than I expected. Location to restaurants and night life downtown couldn't have been better. Centrally located and all very walkable. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
