Best advice is to avoid this place like the plague. Overpriced for what is essentially a dingy room with a TV. Beds are lumpy and uncomfortable. Room has no closet space - actually has no space period. The bathroom floor actually slants, which is somewhat disconcerting. The entire astablishment needs a lot of TLC to bring it up to the level of poor. On the positive side, the attached gas station serves perfectly fine gas…

I was charged $ 200.00 at check-in for no reason, after paying the Expedia quoted amount of $ 126.91 and the pet fee of $ 20.00. They only refunded me $ 150.00 with no explanations.
Expedia never mentioned this outrageous amount when I booked online.
The Bell Lake-Vu Motel only explained the difference after many emails to the BBB, the Ontario Tourism Board, the ORHMA, Expedia and the Kenora Business Association, claiming that I had smoked. I am 85 years old and stopped smoking over 40 years ago. My dog did no damage, I did no damage and we left the room as clean as at arrival. This type of "EXTRA" charge should be mentioned by the online booking sites to let people make a choice BEFORE arriving and find themselves forced to accept or lose the rental fee.
This motel is NOT honest and I advise future customers to question any strange charge potentially added to a quote when they bookk online.
And I demand that such charges be mentioned by the booking sites.

this business lies and steals from its guests..!
at check-in I was charged a normal room-fee plus a normal pet -fee AND an outrageous deposit of $ 200.00..
they refunded me only $ 150.00 claiming that I smoked in my room.
I am 85 years old and stopped smoking over 40 years ago and live in a building demanding tenants NOT to smoke as a condition of rental.
that charge was NOT disclosed on the Expedia booking site and so forced me to pay it or lose my room rental fee.!
I have notified the Ontario Tourism Office, the BBB, the Kenora Chamber of Commerce, the ORHMA, etc but none has any interest of helping given the small amount involved.
Just be aware of the crooked way this business operates !!!

Phoned and booked two rooms with Jaca for my business. I was quoted a price but when we arrived they said they had misquoted and due to renovations they had to charge more. After some back and forth banter they finally agreed to the set price. We had requested a cot for one of the rooms. They stated they had no one available to carry one up. Said we could carry it ourselves. $10.00 extra/night. OK fine. But NO now they say the cot wouldn't fit and that we would need another room!
Screw it - ended up at a different hotel Best decision ever. Would never stay there or recommend to anyone either!

You will find the hotel behind the gas station. Had to sign a piece of paper that stated if of pets caused any damage we would have to pay, how would they ever know the place is in such a poor state of repair. Parking is brutal. Really there is not much positive to report here.

Very small room..no a/c the shower is very small. The owner decide to vacuum his car right under our window at 7 am. We still did not received our 100$ deposit after 13 days. No ice but you have soap shampoo and everything else. They have a little place in the middle of 4rth room like a fridge with some discussing stuff frozen in it. Go somewhere else if you can!

Staff were pleasant but a bit odd that you check in at the gas station and there isn't service after 10pm. Rooms clean but very dated and area feels a bit rough. Price higher than it should be for this experience but it was a busy time. No breakfast- no frills.

My partner and I frequently go on day or weekend trips. On our travel adventures, we often end up staying overnight at a hotel or motel. We expect rooms to be clean, staf to be approachable and food to be acceptable. We also like it when we find a hotel or motel going green.

The motel is located at highway 17, at a controlled intersection, approximately 5 minutes driving from Kenora's city center and is part of a gas bar and restaurant.

We opted for a renovated single room with 1 double bed, which comes with a TV, phone, microwave oven, appartment size fridge and coffee maker and has a shower cabin instead of a bath tub.

This is what we found (The Good, The Bad, The Ugly):

The Good:

- good location
- restaurant and gas bar within 50 meters
- friendly staff, eager to help
- free basic cable TV
- free wi-fi
- lugage stand
- free (angled) parking
- free local calls
- clean bed with mattress cover applied, clean pillows, pillow covers and sheets clean and fresh
- clean sink, toilet, shower cabin and towels
- all rooms are non smoking

The Bad:

- dust on top of wall mounted flat screen TV, bathroom light shade, countertop splashboard and door headers
- dirty microwave
- bathroom door hinges squeaking
- no garbage can in the bathroom
- noisy refrigerator
- drinking cups not individually wrapped
- breakfast not included
- no recycling bin

The Ugly:

- motel reception desk is inside the gas bar
- no staff at reception desk after 23:00 (11PM)

Emphasis appears to be on the gas bar and restaurant. Housekeeping and reception are found wanting.

The motel reception is inside the gas bar, which makes it somewhat confusing for first time guests. Reception is closed after 23:00 hours (11 PM), making it impossible to reach motel staff in case of an emergency (locked out of room, replacement bed sheets, extra pillows, extra towels, lack of hot water, spills, leaking or clogged toilet,...

I gave this motel a pretty good review a few months back because it was really good service and the room we had was amazing - that I decided to book a room again as my partner and I visited Kenora for our anniversary a few weeks after my first visit.

Had the room booked well ahead in advance - a day before our trip - the motel called me and said there are no rooms available. I asked them how come as I reserved a room weeks before - and the satff said that someone wanted to rent it for a month! I was so upset! I booked the room and they rented it to someone who will stay longer - for sure, its more money for them - but is that the way you will treat customers? Cancel their reservation just because someone wants to rent for a longer duration? They couldnt even offer any other rooms because everything's occupied - not even an offer to help me find a place. So disappointed. I dont recommend booking a reservation to this place - you dont want to receive the same phone call a day before your trip saying they rented out your RESERVED room to someone else.

Ended up having to stay here for two weeks. The people in the room next to us lived in the motel and smoked weed outside 5 times a day. Im pretty sure they just live in the room and sell drugs. Would not recommend for families. Its pretty bad that the motel owner allows this. Also there is no view of the lake so don't get your hopes up. Very outdated. The shower was 2 feet by 2 feet. Im a small person and barely fit in it. Also the neighbours would yell at each other at all times of the day. It was rediculous.

Do they charge a per dog deposit. Is it refundable if so? I have two tiny, under ten pounds dogs.
