Pretty rough experience, and we ended up changing hotels. My room was on the main floor and smelled overwhelmingly like old cigarette smoke and air freshener. I am sensitive to both these smells, so I asked about switching rooms. The front desk said the hotel was full and offered to spray more air freshener. My coworker’s room hadn’t been cleaned so they had to ask for a new room.
The hotel is pretty old and outdated. The lobby was bright and clean, but the rooms were dark and seemed dirty. The a/c vent was yellowed and dirty - maybe contributing to the bad smell.
We changed our plans and didn’t stay, but I was charged since I’d used the soap and sink (not even the toilet!) to wash my hands, and there was no housekeeping on duty to “clean” the room afterwards.
Overall, not somewhere I’d ever recommend.

Great first floor room, outside access, remodeled room, no carpet which is so much cleaner, nice walk in shower. Hot breakfast was pretty good though it would be nice if the breakfast staff would have an idea what items are gluten free. Would have wanted gluten free options for my family of 5. Hotel staff was very accommodating with 10 year old girls' hockey team.

over two days we’re on the road for 26 hours due to accidents highway blockage and bad weather.
We pulled into the hotel at 3:33 AM and had to park across the street at Canadian tire because the lack of parking for anybody with a trailer.
The ice on the road and the parking lot was so horrific our 13 year old dog who is almost 75 pounds fell three times just getting to the front door.
Carson was at the desk and he was extremely helpful and apologetic for the weather conditions and actually sorry and apologize for taking us so long to get there because of the accident on Highway 17 and the highway being closed. This was of course nothing that he could have changed or controlled.
The room was on the ground floor exactly like we had been informed and it was great for pets.
The hotel room was exactly that a bed a couch some clean furniture and a clean bathroom.
They never stated that it was going to be the Taj Mahal and it wasn’t but the staff were phenomenal.
I’m not sure the name of the girl that was serving breakfast but she’s only been with the company for six days and she made our breakfast so much nicer Knowing that we were going to have a good hospitality from someone like her.
The road conditions to Winnipeg were horrific so we ended up staying two nights and when we checked out the girl at the desk was phenomenal as well.
Just walking down the hall and seeing the housekeeping staff and everyone of them smiling through their masks and welcoming you was such a nice feeling.
After leaving Toronto it was great to have such personal service from people that obviously enjoyed what they were doing.
I would definitely recommend coming back to this hotel just for the service and of course the price.
By the way we were trapped without clothing because everything had shifted in our trailer and Canadian Tire and Walmart are directly across the street so we walked over to get clean underwear. lol

My wife and I got caught in a snow storm and stayed at this hotel.
We were traveling with a pet and the hotel told they allowed pets at an extra charge. When we checked in the room was presented as a pet friendly room with our own sliding door to take our dog out.
When we got to the room No sliding door and the front desk told us no other rooms available.
The room had not been cleaned. Mud,wrappers etc on the floor. Obviously it had not been vacuumed for some time. There was no toilet paper to be had in the room and the roll was empty.
Again went to the front desk and got a roll of toilet paper. No apologies offered.
Back to the room
-No cups for drinks -no coffer for the room coffee maker
A breakfast was included in the stay but come morning there was no breakfast. The front desk clerk said the breakfast person would be an hour late so he told her everyone would be gone by then so don’t bother coming in. He didn’t even put coffee on.
All of this for over $200.00 a night. One circle is too much.

More expensive than most accommodation in out of the way settings and frankly I would not recommend it to anyone. Being up north the hotel was filled with transient workers and our patio door did not lock properly. The hotel is quite noisy, dirty and our heater smelled like burning hair. It made so much noise we were forced to unplug it overnight so we could sleep. When we mentioned the heater to the manager at checkout he showed ZERO interest in resolving it now or ever! I feel that due to lack of availability this hotel will never improve so if you are going to pay for a bad experience maybe pick a cheaper option and be “less disappointed”!

My recent stay at this Kenora hotel was beyond disappointing. I encountered numerous issues that made it an unforgettable nightmare:
1. Unfriendly Front Desk: The staff at the front desk lacked any friendliness or helpfulness, setting a negative tone from the start.
2. Dirty and Neglected: The room was in appalling condition, with dirt, hair, and unidentified debris on the shelf. It was clear that cleanliness was not a priority.
3. No Air Conditioning: Despite the summer heat, the room lacked air conditioning, making it incredibly uncomfortable to sleep or relax.
4. Broken Bathroom Door: The bathroom door was broken, compromising privacy and adding to the overall frustration.
5. False Promises: I booked a room with an additional couch for my son, but it was broken and unusable. The lack of extra sheets or blankets only added to the problem. Despite requesting assistance, nothing was done for over an hour.
6. Indifferent Service: When I raised my concerns the next day, the response was dismissive and unhelpful.
To make matters worse, the steep price of 306 CAD for this terrible experience was outrageous. Even at 35 CAD, I would avoid this place like the plague.
In short, unless you enjoy poor service, unclean conditions, and broken promises, I strongly advise avoiding this hotel. Your money and peace of mind are better spent elsewhere.

The hotel looked good compared to what is around. I was mistaken. The woman that checked me in, fantastic. Manager I spoke to in the morning, fantastic. The room. No. 120, smelt like wet dog. Black long hair in sink, on toilet seat and stuck to the back of the bathroom door. The sink drained very slowly. Pills under the bed from a previous guest, as well as candy and junk. Pulled up the couch cushions, plastic garbage and more junk. The room was not cleaned or sanitized in any way except the sheets were changed and the pillowcases. For $160 a night or at any cost from $50 a night the rooms should be fully cleaned, smell good or no smell at all. This was a very disappointing stay at Comfort Inn. The regular standards were not even close to being met.

Check in went well, good staff at the desk. Room smelled very much like wet dogs. I do understand that all main floor rooms are pet friendly but it didn’t seem to have been cleaned thoroughly. The breakfast provided (included in the price) had slim pickings when we got there 30mins before it closed. Not even a slice of bread to make toast.
Not a very good representation for the Comfort Inn chain.

The bathroom looked somewhat updated and clean and bedding looked clean but room was very dated and warn. I am sure cleaners, who are friendly do their best but I would suggest removing all carpet and replacing badly worn furniture ASAP
When I took my socks off and walked on floor carpet felt sticky.....gross
Young man at front desk was helpful when we checked in but in morning a different man was very unfriendly and did not Ben acknowledge me when I said good morning
They did have lots of hot water a good water pressure
It does appear they are house COVID people for isolation at back of motel
We are not fussy people, simple is fine as long as it is deep clean.....which I am certain it is not
Would NOT recommend or ever stay again
This place will give other comfort inns a bad name

We had searched the main level of the hotel for at least 5 minutes to find someone who could check us in and when we finally found someone we we're rudely told to cover our noses with our masks after lowering it so the younger lady could understand what we we're saying (there was at least 10 feet of physical separation between us). Disgusting "grab and go" breakfast bag which included a sugar laced Danish, apple and a small juice box (artificial juice loaded with refined sugar). When I complained about the breakfast in the morning (there was only one bag left for the two of us) to the younger man at the front desk all he offered for a response was "sorry". The following day the hotel sent me a survey to fill-out. The hotel's response was a no-reply e-mail apparently from the GM (no name given) stating "Grab and Go bag items follow the guidelines from Health and Safety Canada". Really ? What a pathetic excuse for not taking responsibility to provide better service to its customers. I am a Choice Hotel membership who travels extensively for business and pleasure and because of the inexcusable actions and unsatisfactory response of this hotel will be looking at staying at other hotel chains from now on especially when staying in Kenora.
