Atmosphere is hard to define but easy to recognize. Period charm & thoughtful service A+. Little details (& breakfasts) are superb. The location makes downtown/lake easily walkable. Hosts are friendly but not intrusive. I came for a week of work, I would like to return with my wife and relax in genteel surroundings.

I came for work having never been to Kenora and fell in love with Kendall House. The house is over 100 years old and has been completely re-done in every way - while keeping old charm. The decor is gorgeous and the home is very well taken care of. The hosts were lovely - very kind and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious as well. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay while in Canada's north.

I stayed at the Kendal house with two different friends, once in June travelling to Winnipeg, and once in August returning to Ottawa. The hosts are most welcoming and friendly, very gracious and even found my lost water bottle for my dog which they had waiting for me on my return. The house is beautifully restored and the rooms are very comfortable - amazing beds which ensured an amazing sleep. The location is walking distance to all amenities in Kenora, and the hosts are very knowledgeable about the area, including the local culture and activities and community life in the town. I highly recommend this place and hope to be able to stay again.

We unfortunately will not be as positive as some of the other reviews. The house was lovely, both inside and out and very clean. However, we did have some issues with the owners/hosts. The website advised to be checked in between 4 & 6:00 P.M. However, we knew that being in Rushing River for the day and coming 3 hrs away to begin with to get to RR, it was going to be tight to get there between those times. I had sent them an email the previous day advising that we maybe slightly later.... however, I did not see their returned email the following morning as we left before they responded. They expressed their concerns about us being late and advised that they have those times for a reason, one being it does not give them a chance to go out in the evening if they wished. They said they have had other guests come from R.R . and they seem to have enough of time to do things there so we should too. So when we did arrive at 7:15, they were not too happy with us. Advising us that we were very late and then going on about their times and why they have them. They said you know how it goes, customers show respect to them and they show it back... and I said that I was not being disrespectful, which was why I gave them a heads up with the email. They said that some people are excessively late at times and I asked if we were and Rob said yes. He was definitely annoyed with us. We stayed in the Attic room and it was very nice, spacious and had it's own bathroom. We had to select the breakfast that we wanted from a list of two options... oatmeal or eggs (included other items). In the email I requested oatmeal and my husband just toast and fruit/yogurt. However, that night we changed the order with Rob and had asked for oatmeal for my husband as well. So we get to breakfast on time at 8:00 and I get the oatmeal , 2 pces of toast that was similar to melba toast with fruit cocktail and a tbsp of yogurt on top of fruit and a shot glass of o.j. My husband only gets some 2 small dry pieces of melba toast and the fruit cocktail. When I had advised that my husband too had ordered the oatmeal...Craig advised that it was only me that order (so obviously the two did not communicate our change of order). So Craig advised that he only made enough for me and so then I would have to share with my husband.. so he takes my bowl back and splits the order in half... unbelieveable... for 140.00 a night we had to share our oatmeal... we will not be going back there again...nice house or not.

I am not normally a bed and breakfast kind of girl, but I now think differently thanks to the amazing owners of Kendall House in Kenora.
I felt so at home here I actually had a hard time walking away from the property.

The hosts Craig and Rob are great people, so much fun and easy to talk too!
The house itself is a beautiful historic home on a large lot with the most amazing back yard for those visiting in the summer months.
The location is perfect with everything you need within a couple of blocks.
Breakfast was terrific, and the coffee much better than anything severed at the local restaurants in town.
Oh and for those of you concerned with cleanliness, Kendall House is cleaner than any hotel I have been too, and I am hard to please : )

Keep up the amazing work gentlemen <3

Great hosts, great food, great location. My wife and I stayed there four nights in August. Both Rob and Craig went the extra mile to ensure that we were welcomed both to their B & B and to the city of Kenora. I would have given five stars but, having overlooked the fact that the rooms on the second floor share bathroom facilities, we realize how spoiled we have become. If you prefer an ensuite bathroom, make sure you reserve the attic suite for a complete five star experience.

We were welcomed to Kendall House by Craig who gave us a tour and shared some of the history of the house. The location is perfect - easy to find and a short walk to the harbour, restaurants and downtown. Breakfast was amazing and prepared to fit our time schedule. Thanks again Craig and Rob.

I was lucky to have one night at this lovely B&B. The hosts were welcoming and helpful. The location is very central. The bed I slept in was so comfortable that I didn't want to get up. Delicious breakfast too. I would definitely return.

We stayed at Kendall House while in Kenora for the Hedley concert. Location was perfect. Short walk to where the pavilion is located, and even shorter walk to Lake of the Woods Brewery:)
The owners of Kendall House are extremely friendly, and are genuinely interested in their guests. Beautiful old house, and a fantastic breakfast to start the day!
Spent the extra $20 for the attic room. Worth the money to have your own bathroom. Maybe not a big deal to some, but admittedly, I'm a little higher maintenance than most! Will definitely return to Kendall House next time in Kenora.

For my first stay at a bed and breakfast, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the hosts made me feel at home in their home. Kendall House has wonderful history which the hosts shared and it's clear that they have a passion for hospitality! With excellent advice on where to visit and eat and their enthusiasm for their community, I felt at ease and at home. They are quite the cooks as well! I would highly recommend staying at the Kendall House if you are up in Kenora, within walking distance of amenities and for its wonderful hosts!

"The attic suite very romantic & cozy if you can handle some extra stairs, but the other rooms have character. Wish I had had the time to just have a brandy in the parlour. Generous windows, w arm and sunny in winter."
