Great fishing at Sydney Lake. First class service from John and the staff at the lodge. Spent 5 days there with girlfriend and even she thought it was the best fishing experience ever. Boats/motors are in great shape. If you want to get away from people and have the best fishing experience ever, booked a trip to Sydney Lake

We recently visited Sydney Lake Lodge in memory of my dad who loved going fishing on Sydney for decades. After he passed we decided as a family to check out one of his favorite spots. Our experience at SLL was fantastic. From the moment we stepped off the River Air plane to the second we left the staff took excellent care of us. Our cabin was rustic but very comfortable. We did not love the outhouse experience so were able to get a bucket with a toilet seat to use in our cabin's shower room.
Thought none of us are avid fishermen we still had a great fishing experience. Fonzy took some of our group out fishing one afternoon and they had excellent success - a trophy Northern was caught! The rest of the group was able to catch some great fish - memories were made that will last a lifetime.
SLL is so remote in such a beautiful location. It is beyond peaceful and was an excellent place to honor our dad's memory.
We cannot recommend SLL enough!

Fishing is excellent, the cabins are comfortable, and the service is great! The only drawback is that time goes by so quick. You owe it to yourself to visit Sydney Lake at least once before you die. This location is for the serious fisherman.

We had a group of 10 and were very comfortable in Cabin 2. Comfortable beds, the appliances all worked, indoor running water for sinks and shower (an outhouse for the toilet) and the cabin very was spacious. As for the fishing, it's hard to describe how good it is. the hard part was to catch walleyes that were under the 18" max limit. We caught fish in several locations around the lake all day long.

We just got home this morning from our stay. What can I say, but oh my God. This was my first trip and it was fabulous. There were 6 in our group and I would have to say that in roughly 5 days of fishing we caught close to 1000 fish. Nobody caught a trophy, but several walleye between 24" and 26" were caught. John, Jeb, Kurt and there families were very accommodating and treated like family. Courtney did a great job on keeping our cabin clean and neat. Justin and Scott were on top of things from keeping our boats fueled to our coolers full and giving us tips. Justin always had a story to tell. All provided us with a great social time after hours, being it playing cards to ping pong to fussball. One night they cooked a beaver and shared some of that with us. Very tastey .The beautiful sunrises and seeing the Northern Lights was an added plus. I look forward to going back intwo years and sure hope the same staff is all still there.

Have been going to this lodge since 2003. The camp keeps improving, quality equipment, (if something breaks they fix it), Building improvements, energenic staff (Kurt, Scott, Justin (aka Fonzy), and Courtney) got whatever we needed, had the boats gassed, and ready to get our minnows, always met us to tie our boats up when we came in. About every other night the Staff would even get together in the lodge, sauna, or on your porch to keep you engaged in the evenings. (From Just visiting to Beer ping pong!)
Fishing is always good all over the lake! The lake is not over crowded, so if you don't want to see anyone during the day fishing, you don't have to!
Thanks for a great week

Sydney Lake Lodge is by far the best Canadian fishing in Canada. The group of guys I go with have tried many other lakes in Canada and none have even come close. This place is spectacular. It is hard to explain but I truly expect to catch a fish every time I cast my line and you are always waiting for the trophy which there are plenty of. Walleye are abundant with an average size of over 19 inches one year we were catching 22 inch plus all day long. Lake trout and northern pike are also just a cast away. My arm gets sore from catching so many fish. The scenery is something to behold from the moon and sun shinning on the lake and the loons and beaver. I have some awesome video of bald eagles. You will literally see dozens of eagles. What a beautiful majestic sight. This place is a must do once in your lifetime. I could go on for another hour about our adventures at Sydney. There is the falls where one lake drains into another at a lower level and if the lake is up it is quite a sight. Major rapids and you can shore your boat and explore the area around the falls and even fish from the bottom side of the falls in the white water wash area. It is an amazing experience catching a fish that is swimming in the rapids.

First the good...... The fishing was terrific. My son got a 37 inche Pike which was the big fish on our 4 day trip. We fished with Justin on every day. We caught shore lunch walleyes at will. I got my new PB with a 25 inch walleye. Lots and lots of our target fish.....Pike. Mostly in the 23-26 inch range. Justin put us on fish every day and make fine shore lunch, and was a pleasure to fish with. The opportunity for improvement was the cabin condition and cleanliness...... During a hard rain we had water dripping on one of the beds, and we trapped mice in the cabin every night. The web site lists the cabins as "En-suite" but what we had was hot and cold running water for an indoor shower and sink, but the toilet was an outhouse out back. I wish I'd known that before I booked.

Just got back from a 4 day vacation. Camp was nice. Scott meeting you at the dock and taking care of the boat as you came and went was a real plus. Fishing with Justin one morning was nice, helped me learn more of the lake. Looking forward to going fishing there again. Jeb and Kurt were very friendly and helpful. It is good to see them upgrading the camp. The entire time we were there, they were working on upgrading the fisherman cabin.

No American Plan. Plan our menu and bring it in as part of our 100 lbs per man which is plenty. The lodge has lists I gave them on how to pack, menu etc. What is better about not having and American Plan, even though you have to cook yourself, is it is on your schedule not camps.
