The room #6 was as advertised, very clean and had comfortable beds. The cleaning staff was friendly and did a great job but the management seemed overwhelmed and while the weren’t rude they were not friendly or particularly helpful either. The restaurant and patio which were a huge reason we chose the Inn were both inaccessible for our trip, being used for storage and completely filled with empty boxes. I thought the price was a bit high especially considering that a big part of the amenities were closed to guests.

There are NO windows in these hotel suites. There are two panes of glass in the door and both panes are heavily frosted so you cannot see outside without opening your door (we were hesitant to do that as there are lots of bugs here). We were in a corner unit and I think we could have had two picture windows in the living area and one in the bedroom. The suite is very dark, lights were not sufficient to light up the rooms (with exception of the bathroom). We should have been able to enjoy the trees and the lake from our room but without windows it was not possible. We always perform a bed bug check in every hotel room we stay in. NO bedbugs! However, as we went through the various layers of bedding, some were stained and there was a fair amount of grass and sand amongst the bed linens and on the mattress. The top sheets and towels were clean. The floors were stickie from previous tenants spilling pop or something syrupy. The drawers also had grass and sand in them. The couch was well worn and dirty and the other chairs needed a good vacuuming. We felt we over paid for the quality of suite we had.

The owner was very friendly. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was nice & clean. The room was spacious and the tv worked great.
Cons: Other than the beds the furnishings needed cleaning. The room is very dark and there are no windows, only the door that lets in very little light. The curtains on the door need updating. The shower head needs replacing. There is only a French press to make coffee. The building is unique but definitely needs some work.

When we arrived in our room after a long day of travelling across the country, it was poorly lit with one of the lamps being broken. The bathroom was covered in long black hair and pubic hair, with the tub looking like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. There was dust everywhere. The bed was full of pet, pubic, and head hair, had stains in the sheets, and smelled dirty. When we contacted the manager and asked for another room, the room we were brought to was somehow worse. The floors were covered in sand/dirt, and tiny pebbles all over the floors. In front of the manager, I noted this and pulled back the sheets to find rocks and dirt all over the sheets. I told the manager that this was worse, so she offered us a full refund and to go elsewhere. After calling several other hotels around 8pm and not finding other availability, we asked the manager for fresh sheets and agreed to stay in our original room, as we didn’t want to sleep in our UHaul overnight. After pulling more hairs off the clean sheets we were brought, we went to bed and left early the next morning. I called the Inn back twice asking to speak to the manager, and when I finally got a hold of her, she said we couldn’t get any refund for our stay, despite all our troubles. This place has horrible customer service and cleaning practices. Steer clear.

I made my cleanliness concerns known to two staff memories; the first gave excuses and offered me a mop and the second provided me with the email and first name (Gary) of the owner/manager. Though I was guaranteed a speedy response, I received none (which I was not surprised by). I put a claim through the Better Business Bureau - which went nowhere because the business ignored it. Other issues to note: the photos online are considerably out of date. The staff are nice, but there is definitely a language barrier (if you are English-speaking). Unless you are content paying $200 plus a night and also have low cleanliness and customer service expectations, I would recommend you look elsewhere!

I booked this hotel online because I’m driving from British Columbia to Ontario and I needed to stop somewhere for the night because I have a performance for school over zoom. When I arrived I asked if it was possible to check early because the check-in time happened to be the exact same time I was doing class. I was told no. I asked if it was possible that they can put a rush on cleaning the room and gave my reasoning as to why it was so imperative, again I was told no because if they rush it they might make mistakes. I explain the severity of the situation and without even asking or trying to accommodate my urgency, I will shut down. So I ended up going back out to my vehicle prepared to wait an hour and 20 minutes till check-in and realized that I had to go to the bathroom so I walked inside again and asked if there was at least a bathroom that I could use automatically I was told no once again! Completely frustrated I didn’t even let him finish what he was going to say after I heard “no the bathroom isn’t working” I just left and went back to my vehicle. Which is where I am actually writing this review from. I haven’t even checked in yet and these are the problems I’ve encounter. If everywhere else wasn’t sold out and I wasn’t in need of a room ASAP I would definitely have cancelled my reservation, dealt with any penalties, and took off!

I was looking for a really nice hotel with a view of the lake.
When we arrived we could not find the office. Climbed up and down the stairs.
The room is quite big and dark. COVID19 hygiene not taken into account. As a rule, I clean every surface with a disinfecting cloth, and they ended up black with dirt. The cups and glasses are not disposable so I had to disinfect those too.
The only window was stuck and could not be opened.
The bathroom is diminuto with no place to put anything more than a toothbrush.
The beds are not particularly confortable, and the pillows are terrible.
I felt I had been tricked to pay for something in did not get.
Traveling across Canada I’ve stayed in many hotels but have always felt I got my money’s worth. This hotel definitively not worth what I paid for.

The perfumed smell of cleaning products was overwhelming. It made us sick and made for a difficult sleep.

We were charged for an "extra child", though we have no children. When we asked about this we were told it was due to their having a "new system" and that nothing could be done about it.

I would not stay here again.

My daughter and I were travelling across Canada and were looking for a safe, clean place to stay. We were extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms. Not fancy, but rooms had been recently renovated with new flooring and beds and linens. It had a lovely French press coffee maker with grounds from their roaster in the front of the hotel. Best morning coffee on the road trip! I'm not a fan of Chinese Food, but this was really really good. Veggies were crisp and not soggy; Won Ton soup was hot and FULL of wontons. A small table and chair outside the room was perfect to enjoy an evening ice cream or morning coffee. I had to change my reservation as well, but didn't have any issues at all. A lovely family-run motel with great outside space. A 2 min drive past Kenora and well worth it!!

We paid over $200 for a standard room. The check-in was easy - we were handed a key and told where to park. No paperwork at all. The room was very clean and we like that we were provided with a French press and some coffee for the morning instead of the usual Keurig and tasteless hockey pucks. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was new. That's the good part.

The not good parts: The window/door to the lake are frosted glass so there is no view whatsoever from the room and it feels like a prison. There is a peephole to look through at eye level. I guess this is someone's idea of providing privacy but if I want that I can close the curtains.
The shower was awful. The head didn't work properly and it completely soaked everything in the bathroom (Room 8). There was no way to have a shower without getting your hair soaked too.
The microwave was broken when we arrived. We were brought a new one but it was inefficient.
The walls are paper thin and the night we stayed we were unfortunately next door to a group of girls having a girls' night out - that went until 2:30 am. It sounded like they had a much better time than we did.
When we left the next morning at 8:30 am the office was closed. I have since emailed 3 times to ask for a receipt. I need this to claim a price match guarantee through Booking.com. I have received no reply to my message.

We stayed here on a drive from BC to Ottawa. We chose to pay more because all the other places in Kenora get horrible ratings. The room was far too expensive for what it is though and for the price we paid we expect better. The owners are trying hard in some ways but missing the mark.
