When we arrived in our room after a long day of travelling across the country, it was poorly lit with one of the lamps being broken. The bathroom was covered in long black hair and pubic hair, with the tub looking like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. There was dust everywhere. The bed was full of pet, pubic, and head hair, had stains in the sheets, and smelled dirty. When we contacted the manager and asked for another room, the room we were brought to was somehow worse. The floors were covered in sand/dirt, and tiny pebbles all over the floors. In front of the manager, I noted this and pulled back the sheets to find rocks and dirt all over the sheets. I told the manager that this was worse, so she offered us a full refund and to go elsewhere. After calling several other hotels around 8pm and not finding other availability, we asked the manager for fresh sheets and agreed to stay in our original room, as we didn’t want to sleep in our UHaul overnight. After pulling more hairs off the clean sheets we were brought, we went to bed and left early the next morning. I called the Inn back twice asking to speak to the manager, and when I finally got a hold of her, she said we couldn’t get any refund for our stay, despite all our troubles. This place has horrible customer service and cleaning practices. Steer clear.

My expectations surpassed based on previous reviews; friendly reception and a clean room. Best was the ability to have a healthy Chinese dinner take out from the in-house restaurant that we enjoyed on the outdoor table. A great stop on our travel across the country.

The place was very old and dirty. What was seriously wrong is how they advertised the place. Do not expect your room or grounds to look anything like the pictures used in the advertisement. I certainly understand hotels using their best pictures to advertise, however this hotel went way beyond that. Disappointing.

My initial reaction at “front desk “with messy storage closet behind that I’d booked a very wrong motel was confirmed until departure. An obnoxious clicking sound throughout the night, seemingly inside the wall.Every footstep above resonated. I abandoned the place a day early and bit the $$ bullet.Avoid this place!

The perfumed smell of cleaning products was overwhelming. It made us sick and made for a difficult sleep. We were charged for an "extra child", though we have no children. When we asked about this we were told it was due to their having a "new system" and that nothing could be done about it. I would not stay here again.

Wow, what a little hidden gem! Peaceful- can hear crickets, birds, loons and not much of the highway noise, extremely clean, beautiful garden, great area to go for a walk with the public beach not too far away. Sad that the lobby bar and patio were not in use this visit but sitting on the balcony of our room did the trick. Will definitely recommend and will go back!

We needed a pet-friendly hotel and this is one of the few in Kenora. Check-in has to be before 9pm-after that no staff can be reached until 11am the next day. Check-in is at the Chinese restaurant upstairs. The gentleman who gave us the keys was very friendly. As soon as we went into the room it smelled like Raid, however, we did not see any bugs. The room was large but simple and the TV wasn’t the best. The next morning we left early and left the keys in the room. We received an email receipt later that day. The best part of staying here was the big buck that was bedding down for the night on the grassy patch outside near our room!

Filthy place from top to bottom. After trying two rooms, both filthy with everything imaginable. Can't give this a low enough score. Owners didn't try to make things right, just immediately offered refund which they were pretty efficient at which again seems like something they do on a regular basis.

I made my cleanliness concerns known to two staff memories; the first gave excuses and offered me a mop and the second provided me with the email and first name (Gary) of the owner/manager. Though I was guaranteed a speedy response, I received none (which I was not surprised by). I put a claim through the Better Business Bureau - which went nowhere because the business ignored it. Other issues to note: the photos online are considerably out of date. The staff are nice, but there is definitely a language barrier (if you are English-speaking). Unless you are content paying $200 plus a night and also have low cleanliness and customer service expectations, I would recommend you look elsewhere!

Secure, clean and comfortable is a bare minimum and not achieved. Stayed here because it was the last room available in town, need to come to Kenora for Medical. Stayed in a lower level room. When I arrived, I noted the weather stripping on the door by the latching mechanism is chewed up. On inspection of door, it would be ridiculously easy to break in. And by the evidence, has been. Room was full of insects, fruit flies, mayflies and spiders, and one moth, actually. Veritable ecosystem. Outdoor crumbs and dirt all over the floor. Room was humid. AC unit is old but works. Bathroom exhaust fan is a joke. Recommend replacing both sooner rather than later. Cleanliness: Bathroom was clean but for a few flies. Let me be clear: I can deal with a spider or two. There were a fair number of fruit flies and spiders and mayflies surrounding the front entry. Repairs on screens and weather stripping will help this. I kept a light on at the door to draw insects away. Dead insects in light fixtures. More mess: In a clean, tucked bed, I pulled back the cover and found food crumbs all over the fitted sheet. The other bed was okay. Mattress was about as comfortable as a Canadian Tire camp cot, which is to say, not at all. Pillows, sheets and blankets were nice. The tray holding cups rim down was dirty. Had to clean cups before use, noticed schmutz in them. There is no phone to contact front desk for issues, and as others have noted, there is no front desk rep overnight if issues are encountered. I didn’t bother complaining, because they didn’t bother to clean properly in the first place. Could be a lovely property if it was MUCH better maintained. Especially for the price of the rooms. Also, I am pro mask and pro being cautious, but there is a full restaurant and coffee bar they could open at this time, even if for hotel guests only for breakfast or something, as restrictions are lifted. Currently it’s Take out only and no menus in the room which is a huge missed opportunity. Would have loved to grab breakfast overlooking the lake. Just an all-around fail. So much simple stuff they could do to make it leagues better. Real shame as the property is otherwise gorgeous, well-located, and very close to the lake. Do better guys I know you can!
