We stay at Anicinabe at least once every year, for a few days. We've found it to be a great location. Very convenient to town, but far enough away that you're able to enjoy the natural beauty of this part of Lake of the Woods. Love that they have a dock right on site, so taking your water toys with you is made so much easier. Swimming area for the kids. Fishing right of the boardwalk is possible. Store on site, as well as a great group bbq area. There's a dedicated area for cleaning your catch when you come in, and its protected from the wildlife that abounds in the area. Lots of deer, birds..and yes, I'm sure the odd bear, although we haven't come across. Owners are great at trying to accommodate when your needs when traveling as a family with several campers. We did unfortunately have bike stolen there last year, so a good idea to secure property at night. Wifi is available, but only if you're at sites that are fairly close to the main office.

We spent 5 days here while visiting family. The park is in a beautiful location with lots of grass areas and a nice swimming beach. The bathrooms are some of the nicest I've seen. 1/3rd of them were out of order when we got here but were fixed right away (don't know how long they were broken). The wifi is free but unreliable. They, um, close the gate at 11:00pm which is strange, not sure what you do if you have an emergency. The policy is unfriendly and likely legally unwise. The camp store is not much - pretty much barren of goods. The site we were on was not level. Water and power were good but the dump location is also not level making it hard to completely dump. The staff were very nice and the rate is reasonable given the location and amenities. Walmart, Canadian Tire and a Tim Hortons are a walk away but doable.

Our family of four (2 adults and 2 boys, ages 7 and 9) stayed at a serviced site (water and electricity) right beside the washrooms/showers. The campground is well maintained and we felt very safe. Front gate is locked from 11pm to 6am, so there is no unauthorized traffic during the night. Washrooms and family shower rooms are cleaned daily. Doors have numbered keypads so only registered guests have access. Deadbolt locks on doors ensure privacy. There is even a dish washing room with large double sinks which is handy for scrubbing large skillets which can be awkward to clean in small camper sinks.

Even though the campground was fully booked during most of our stay, it was very quiet. The sheltered beach is within walking distance. It was definitely our favourite place to hang out. Our boys spent many hours building sand castles and splashing around in the water. Bring floaties and water toys to get the most out of your beach days. Even though the water was cool, I made good use of my floating chair with a delicious drink in hand.

We purchased firewood, hard ice cream, candy bars, potato chips, slushies and other snacks at the campground office. They also carry ice and have laundry facilities ($2.75 to wash, $2/dryer cycle.

Walmart and Canadian Tire are just a few minutes away by car. Safeway is also nearby.

Other suggestions:

Bring your bikes. Our kids loved biking around the campground. Our youngest boy actually learned how to ride his bike here. Awesome memory made! Ask at the office about other bike trails in the area.

Bring board games. We had several rainy days, so we played lots of Uno, Sequence, Scrabble and such.

Bring your own firewood. It's quite expensive at the campground office ($12/bundle, $20 for 2 bundles).

Reserve early. We loved our stay so much that we booked our site for next year when we checked out. They were almost fully booked already. Can't wait to stay here again!

This park was kept clean and so were the bathrooms. However I do not agree with locking the gates from 10pm to 6am. This is a stupid rule. We went and visited local friends and had to walk in with a 7 year old in the dark and having to be bear aware??? Also this is supposed to be a family place when all we heard was fowl language/people smoking weed. Sites could be a little bigger as most tent spots are very slanted so doesnt make too much room to place your sleeping tent and a kitchen tent. No privacy or green space yet they strive on not parking on the grass as this is how we keep our grass so green. There is no grass at least not on the sites we seen.
They say free wifi but I'm pretty sure they turn it off every hour. Our phones only caught the wifi for about an hour or so a day and we were right by the router.

Overall it was good. sites are clean, access is easy, washroom and shower facilities are very good. water is HOT. I would have given it a very good rating if they installed bear proof bins. Three weeks prior to my stay, a bear was eating out of the bin. It died after suffocating on a plastic bag. On our stay this time we sat and ate dinner not 100 feet away from another bear destroying the garbage bin plastic lid to get at the tasty treats inside. A call to the front office did nothing. a cop car drove by and did not stop. How many more bears will have to die before you install a bear proof bin? oh and not that i needed it but the wifi sucked.

While we had a site that was beautiful we likely will not return to this campground. We had a walk in site and you have one of these be prepared for a steep hill to haul your stuff. Also the boat dock is at the bottom so you will have people walking at all times of day and night, not to mention boats coming and going. The washrooms were clean altho all but 2 women's were out of order our entire stay, 2 washrooms for an entire campground is just too little. We arrived during the night and soon realized our site was covered in goose poop, not a little, ALOT, our shoes were nasty. I had asked the front to clean However no one had leaving us to do this ourselves just so we could set our site up. While we had a tent pad the gravel had extremely sharp rocks which in a tent is not ideal to step on. The tent pad was small, our tent didn't fit and the rest of the site was on a slope. We had to sit and eat on an angle. We wanted to spend a day at the beach but also the entire area was covered in goose poop. I understand there are a lot of geese but try to keep the sites and beach at least somewhat clean. This made for a very disappointing stay we ended up leaving a night early, which was already paid for. The RV sites had zero privacy, basically a giant parking lot. I don't see us returning in the near future, perhaps we'd have better luck in a different site away from the water and if we planned on not using the beach.

I am sorry your stay was unsatisfactory. Tent site 1 is a beautiful site and if you returned in a less busy time of year offers a lot of privacy. The tent pads are standard size but we are looking and making larger as tents seem to be getting bigger and bigger. The goose pool is an ongoing issue and our main beach is maintained 2 times a day a free and clear of any goose droppings. The private beach/dock area by your camp does get its fair share and I will clean it more often. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. In the future the steep climb can be avoided by booking non waterfront spots. Hope you give us a second chance.

This was our first 2 night camp on our trip from Alberta to Newfoundland and we enjoyed our stay. Large shower facilities, laundry and an age appropriate play park for young children close by. The park is close to all city amenities and plenty of signage to find it.

This beautiful park is just off the main 17 (not the bypass). It is up the road from Walmart/CT and gas bars, right on Lake of the Woods. The lots are flat, not super private, but enough space. We stopped for one night over May long weekend, so there was a lot of activity but it was still well kept. Showers are warm and free. Nice grassy area leading to the beach, and playground for the kids.

Lovely little park, however watch out when you book your camp site there are 5 close to the water, however they are on a steep hill! Not fun to haul your gear to and from or gator $ and they haul your stuff for you, great looking beach everyone having fun and really close to town and Walmart and Canadian tire

Excellent location. You feel like your at the lake miles away. But your just 5 minutes from everything you might need. Very friendly and helpful owner and staff. Nice beach and walking paths. Very clean showers and restrooms. Try the fish tacos and fries at the chop truck on site. Great fishing and good golf course all in walking distance. Thank You Scott and staff for an excellent vacation experience.
