As with many first time bookings I was somewhat surprised by the Inn. The stairway to our room was steep which made carrying bags up/down difficult and the hallway was poorly lit making it difficult to unlock the door to our room. On the plus side the bed was very comfortable, the room provided coffee maker, small fridge and real...

I am trying to book this again but it is fully booked for the days I like. We were here Last year, very impressed. Fantastic view, friendly owners, beautiful decoration. The owner cooked very nice breakfast. I really wanted to stay there again! The owner provided a lot of information on local dining and sightseeing. They can also be your...

We stay at B&B's regularly and this is one of the best. Our hosts were not only friendly but very interesting to say the least. Great conversationalist with an excellent knowledge of the area and it's activities. The building is full of history and charm. Rooms were clean and comfortable. If you like water activity, hiking or just kicking back...

It was a real privilege to stay at Portage. If you are looking for modern chic then move on in your search because Portage is full of history and is presented in a style appropriate to the building. The rooms have comfortable beds and all you need but have the addition of being a little quirky with undulating wooden floors...

This B & B is on a long, winding road (North Portage Road) but the destination made up for the drive. The building dates from 1889 and we had a lovely room with a lake view. I went for a walk around the grounds and came to the front and was surprised by 3 deer grazing on fallen apples just...

I held high expectations for my visit based on the reviews and the photos of the gorgeous gardens, but learned that the chalet is a very different property from the Inn. It runs independently as an 'efficiency unit' and required us to clean up at the end of our visit. We noted that the previous guests had not cleaned very...

A lovely place, quiet, with excellent style. It is a long walk down the hill to the water, but otherwise, one of the nicest places in the area. About ten minutes from Huntsville, and be clear about the directions! The owners are on site, and very interesting and helpful.

I can not praise this Inn highly enough. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. We were given lots of handy advice and tips on everything to get the most out of our visit including local areas to visit and eat. The owners were very friendly and took plenty of time to aquaint us with...

I stayed at the Inn with a large group of friends in late May. We were the second party ever to rent the inn as an entire unit (as opposed to renting individual rooms), and it couldn't have worked out better! For example, the fully equipped commercial kitchen made preparing food for the group and cleaning up after a breeze....

A lovely rustic old Inn with all the modern convieniences. Rooms are large with comfortable firm beds. We had a small fridge, plates, wine glasses, cutlery, a kettle for tea and a coffee maker. The owners are top notch. Very friendly and accommodating and they serve a fantastic home cooked breakfast that keeps you full until dinner. We will definitely...

“We have stayed twice. Room 7 was large with a large bathroom and a wonderful lake view. This time room 2 (Wild Rose) doesn't have a view of the lake but has a king bed, as opposed to Queen. It's hard to pick a favourite. Both are excellent.”
