We only spent one night. Based on the other reviews I’m going to guess this place was impacted by COVID. There appear to be people living at the hotel. Our room was clean. The bed was comfortable. But if things are run down a bit it’s the little things that matter. The coffee maker and tray were not clean. The carpet at the door was from the dollar store and should have been replaced. The coffee table was broken (just remove it). Most of the holes in the wall were patched but a coat of paint would have done wonders. The ceiling had been patched from water damage but not finished. The bathroom was redone and would have been amazing except you stopped short of either replacing the tub or having bath fitter in to cover it. We won’t stay again. If we had our daughter with us we wouldn’t have stayed at all. It’s unfortunate. The family who run it seem lovely.…
This is our second time staying in the "cozy cabin" and third time staying at the Tulip Inn and each time it decreases in rating. Also our second time having to outfit the "cozy cabin" with basic kitchen supplies - cutlery, wine and juice glasses, tea towels, dish clothes and a scrubber. The bedding was covered in long dark hairs and when we requested new sheets were asked if we wanted them tonight - like this was an imposition to them to bring them down to us! The kitchen was not outfitted without any forks, 2 spoons and several knives and 1 juice glass. We asked for additional cutlery - were told it would be brought down the next morning. We gave up waiting and went into town to buy some supplies from the dollar store this is the second time we have bought juice glasses, wine glasses and cutlery for the cabin and the second time we have left what we purchased. The cutlery did eventually arrive 2 days later! The shower install has a hole in the bottom of it that is covered with duct tape - but you can certainly feel like your were falling into the hole if you happen to step into or around it. The cabin needs an update starting with a new shower/tub and a coat of paint throughout. There should be nothing stored in the closets (as there were roll away beds in every closet - so virtually useless if you were not using the rollaway beds). On a positive note the cleaning lady (I believe her name was Joanne - although can not be sure) was super friendly, attended to requests when she was working and awesome at Customer Service (unlike the owners). The seclusion of the cabin from the main motel area is nice but certainly not worth the cost - charging it out like a 4 star when really barely a 2.…
This place is a Dump. The bed was hard as a rock and the box underneath the bed was made of some metal box ( we joked it was a filing cabinet, laid down on its back) every time my husband rolled over, it would pop. As you can see in the pictures, the room had 2 sets of numbers. Spider came and went in the cracks of the tub. None of the windows locked, the tv was from 1980's and only had 2 English channels, 3 french, 4 other, not understandable channels. We did how ever meet a few other kind travelers, who had the same issues. We stayed for 4 nights, only because all other places were booked up and we knew we wouldn't get our money back. On a good note, There were no BedBugs, probably because the bed was to hard and noisy. Bring a tent and stay at the Arrowhead park, it's only 5 more miles down the road. The ground is softer, trust me and less spiders. Lol …
Was NOT impressed - was told after in room that TV Did not work, issues locking door, stains on chair, room took 3 hours to warm up - will NEVER book here and need travel on regular basis . It is true you get what you pay for
Paid for room with kitchenette and brought $200 worth of food for cooking for 4 nights. Didn't find out until we entered the room that it wasn't what we booked. Excuse was there was a "small leak" in the kitchenette room. Plenty of opportunities to tell us in advance, i.e. when they found the leak, when we called earlier that day to enquire about late arrival, or when we were checking in. Hence I think the excuse was a lie. I think they gave the room to someone else and tried to cover it up. Only discount offered was downgrade to regular room (whopping $35 total). The excuse was they provided us equivalent items such as single burner butane stove and cooking and eating implements. Not nearly good enough. Still a huge inconvenience as we had to cook with windows/doors open to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning, only one burner, no kitchen sink, inadequate fridge space, no countertops to prepare food, only a small desk as a kitchen table, etc. I know what their kitchenette rooms have as I've stayed in that type of room with them twice before. Shower curtain crisp with filth. Asked for replacement, twice. Was told they had to go buy one (seriously?). It never materialized in the 4 nights we were there. Asked about where to put garbage. Was told to put it outside the room. It was never picked up. Holes in walls, peeling paint, filthy coffee maker, etc. Will NEVER stay here again.…
Walking into my room at tulip inn was by far the most surprised I’ve ever been at a hotel/inn. Online the pictures looked clean, cozy and nice but the reality was the opposite. One of the locks had broken key stuck in it, the desk looked like someone had taken a knife to it, the patio door was unlocked, and the non-smoking room reeked of cigarettes. After I asked for a new room, all I was offered was smoke spray. Then a refund was denied from them. It took days and hours on the phone to only get half my money back. I do not recommend this place at all, you’re better off sleeping in your car
If you have a dog then you are fine. If you have 2 dogs then they won't let you stay there. When asked why they said too much mess. Either you allow dogs or you don't. My two small dogs are not going to shed any more than one big dog. NOT A PET-FRIENDLY BUSINESS
The bedroom smells very stuffy, even mouldy. Some renovations were done but the carpet is terrible, so as the washroom. The towels are ridiculous, impossible to use. Thankfully I had mine. The duvet does not have a cover and is too hot for summer. The air conditioning works well.
Set next to Arrowhead Park and minutes from the town of Huntsville, you are paying for the location only (and you’re paying a lot). The motel is absolutely depressing considering the locale. I have to assume it has changed ownership recently. It is NOT a 4 star motel. The room smelled of stale cigarettes, an IKEA poang chair looked like someone had died in it, the bed was brutally uncomfortable and the air conditioner sounded like a jet engine. There’s a path down to the river with a well kept, small sand beach on a narrow part of the river. My dog and I enjoyed the swim very much. This does not make up for the state of the motel.
We booked 1 night and ended up staying 4 nights. So glad to find this gem! The property is situated right beside Arrowhead National Park & a few hours drive away from Algonquin Provincial Park & the Muskoka lake regions including Gravenhurst, Parry Sound, Bay of Lakes & lake of 2 rivers. Check in was swift and Shweta upgraded us into the king size bedded room. Room was cleaned & spacious with fridge, microwave & coffee machine with coffee, sugar & cream provided. Room was cleaned daily & bed made up & although bed sheets weren't changed, there's always new towels & basic toiletries (shampoo & soap) provided. Walmart is just 6mins drive thru the highway. Although the highway is visible and noise heard from outside. Once in the room, it was very quiet inside. The best part is the walking trails and a man-made beach area on the river on the property. So glad we stayed here & not on the main road properties in Huntsville where traffic is nonstop. It's about 6kms from downtown Huntsville but It didn't bother us as we have a car. So if you have your own car, this is definitely the place to stay. I would definitely recommend this affordable place.…
