We've been staying at the Econolodge Huntsville for over ten years, and we find it consistently good value. The price is among the lowest in the area, and the hotel is clean, quiet, and convenient to highway 11. The usual modest breakfast offerings are suspended during the pandemic, but there is fresh coffee available. There are fast-food places one exit north on hwy 11, and family restaurant within walking distance. We noticed on this visit that the owners are using the slower period to refresh the rooms. Our room had one of the new platform beds—very comfortable! Bathrooms are clean and bright, and the adjustable showerheads are our favourite of any place we've stayed at. The owners, Jack and his wife, are friendly and I believe they've owned this place for at least as long as we've been staying there.…
Rang the checkin bell for 20 minutes...finally someone checked us in. Said her mobile phone was out of battery? She wasn't in the hotel! TV was disconnected. Had to remove from the wall to plug in. No free breakfast because of Covid. Room seemed clean w/ microwave and mini frig. We paid $63 / night on Priceline off season. In season 2-300$???...not worth it that.
The bedding is stained and torn (especially the duvet) to the point that my guest slept in his sleeping bag and I purchased blankets from walmart to sleep on. We found someone else's hair in multiple spots in the bathroom. The hallways and rooms are very dimly lit even with all of the lights on in the room. There is a lovely "alley" of chairs down the side of the motel with a bucket FULL of cigarette butts where the smokers congregate and waft second hand smoke in a steady stream towards the front entrance. I won't even begin to discuss the carpeting...... I would advise staying elsewhere or bring some cleaning supplies and a sleeping bag!
We got to Huntsville late, we were taking our kids to the space center and just needed a place to stay for one night. We made do but it was not one of the better hotels we have stayed in. Bathroom was very small and the desk chair was not able to be sat in because of the way it was. The staff was friendly and very nice to work with.
First..very cramped parking lot. Really difficult to park at truck. Second..the yucky jacuzzi tub in the corner of the bed room was unexpected but made us laugh. As well as the interrogation green walls and the cold white lights. We honestly laughed until we finally fell asleep. Third..the mattress left us both with soar backs in the morning. Not at all worth the $253.00 for one night! I know it’s July in cottage country but really! Next time I will pay the extra $100 for the Holiday Inn. The staff was really nice.
