The lack of professionalism they have. Deadbolt on door did not work I arrived Wed about 2pm (July 13th) to ask to check in early - rooms not made up yet but gave me a suite - not bigger then a regular room but had a desk & chair. I was tired and slept some - didn't notice bed linen stain until later that night. Couldn't sleep that eve thinking about bugs in the room - deadbolt - unhealthy place. Thursday I asked if I could get refund cause I wouldn't be staying Thursday - NO I had made complaints online help chat and review that was to go direct to the hotel - through Expedia I stayed part of the day Thursday just to change clothes but did not sleep there Thursday night and drove home. Felt I could not stay there another night - unhealthy. Was not given wifi access No one is regularly at the front desk Sign outside hotel says breakfast included - NO…
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Do NOT book a stay here! They will SCAM you! We booked online and immediately called to give our credit card info. The person speaking on the phone, which I believe was the owner said “Oh you don’t need to give us your info right now if you have a confirmation through our online booking. You give it to us when you check in.” We showed up yesterday and they told us they didn’t have our booking. We called the owner and he was SO rude and condescending. The daughter at the motel admitted it was their fault and it was their nephew that didn’t take our credit card info. The wife/mother of the owner was equally rude and condescending. I am surprised this place is still in business with the lack of professionalism they have. The girl also mentioned that the booking was cancelled on Friday because they got a 3 night reservation. We luckily found another motel to stay at. The owner at the other motel mentioned that motel owners avoid taking credit card information to secure your room if it’s a one night stay because once they take your credit card information they can’t legally cancel your reservation. This way they can scam you and give it to someone who will be staying for longer. Always demand to give your credit card info for any motel you’re staying at! NEVER stay at Mariner Motel if you want to be treated as a human being.…
We read mix reviews of this place and we are ones to take chances and we did. The managers were very nice and accommodating. If you are expecting 5star hotel, you won’t get it but, our room was clean, AC worked, fridge worked and there was hot water! Yes, it needs work, but we knew we just wanted a decent priced place to sleep while on our Ontario road trip. Would stay here again if we travel through.
The Mariner Motor Motel is a basic motel in a great location. BUT contrary to what you might have read, it WAS NOT designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. This is not the only computer site to wrongly identify the Mariner Motel in Collingwood as being designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Both the extension to the former Kaufman Furniture Factory and the Mariner Motel were designed by local Collingwood architect Bill Carswell who was influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright.
We made a booking back in August 2020, and when we had to cancel our booking, they said we would get a refund and we keep our confirmation of the refund. When we noticed on our credit card statement that they had charged us, we called 3 times and email 2 times. When Hotels.com called them, they refused to speak to the agent. WHAY AN AWFUL WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS !!!
This place was horrible the staff service are rude and it does not have heat that works, everything is old not updated the water pressure is weak and the wifi is 5mbs. Do not recommend should be taken down
This is a simple somewhat dated motel but the room was very clean, the shower was great and the bed comfortable. Breakfast included the usual muffins, juice, cereal and good coffee. All I could ask for at the low price.
This motel is clean and the staff friendly. It is not expensive so it is good for an over night stay for a family or a business trip. We stay there every time we go up to Collingwood. The location is easy to find . It is not on a busy highway so there is no loud noises. The main street is about 3-5 minutes away. It is near the hospital if you going to visit someone there
Staying at the Mariner is a unique experience. If you come in the right frame of mind, you will definitely enjoy your experience. You will enter a hotel that was built in the 1950's, maintained exceptionally well and not updated since. It's like stepping into a time capsule. And let me be clear, this is not a new hotel designed on a retro theme. That would be a different thing. If you can get your head around that, you will be good. The hotel is run by a caring and hardworking family that made us feel very welcome - notwithstanding the few ignorant comments left by some other disgruntled guests. I checked my elderly parents into the hotel for a couple weeks while they waited for permanent accommodations. They required some extra attention on account of their age, and the staff were exceptionally caring and went well beyond the call of duty. Thank you for everything.…
Stayed here for 2 nights and the staff were friendly .The hallway has a slight odor but our room was clean and homey. It had a/c and a small bar fridge but no coffee maker or microwave. They do have a coffee room next to front desk and it has a microwave. It was open 24 hrs a day so that was convenient. The continental breakfast was good. It included toast, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, donuts and tea and coffee and orange juice. The hotel is dated but was good enough for our stay.
