Stayed here with my family for a business trip. The hotel was clean and well maintained. Served the purpose needed. We did have troubles staying connected to the internet to work but no issues with Netflix. There is free wifi. We didn’t get to try out the Sauna as I was not even aware of it until we checked in. Our room was large with 2 double beds however the bathroom area was very small barely any room on vanity. We were opposite side of the tracks and could hear the train arriving, I wish we had a track view. There is an observatory area upstairs with plants etc. we were not able to eat at the restaurant as it only seemed to be open for breakfast, unsure about lunch.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this detailed review on our Station Inn hotel. I will share your comments regarding the cleanliness of our rooms with our housekeeping staff, they take a lot of pride in their work and will appreciate your words. Your comment regarding the sauna brought to my attention that we do not advertise the sauna in the confirmation email, I will add this amenity to our confirmation email to ensure that future guests are aware of said sauna before they embark on their trip. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The on-site restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch Monday - Friday, they serve delicious food in a friendly environment! I would recommend giving them a try the next time you're in the area - best bannock bread ever! For your next stay with us, make sure you request track side and we will do our best to ensure you get a first hand view of the train! Safe travels!

We really enjoyed this motel. It is unique with lots of history. Our room was huge and spotless. Beds super comfortable. We were a group of 8 and we sat in the terrarium room which was super nice and fun to watch the trains. We had supper in the onsite restaurant. Meal was great. There is an antique train across the street and across the street is a path which leads to a beautiful boardwalk which goes all the way around Lake Commando. There were 3 lovely swans in the little lake. This is a great motel and spot.

Yes. This is at the train station. Early in the morning you will hear a train or two. But I was very pleased that this was a clean, warm and comfortable place to stay. There is a restaurant on the premises. if you are taking the train it is convenient. I was very pleased.

So the good part of the review is that the Station Hotel & Restaurant are in the same building as the train station-very handy for getting in that morning train. Also, the stationmaster is lovely and helpful. But that’s an aside. Room is fine. Desk clerk couldn’t tell me if the attached restaurant that shows in the trip advisor listing is open tonight (not on weekends it turns out but she doesn’t know this despite it being in the same building). There is no food service on the train due to CoViD which I understand, but this hotel had NO breakfast available, not even bagged muffins to go. When I asked where we could get breakfast, she didn’t know that answer either-suggested Timmies down the road, but didn’t know how far away it was. I asked how long she’d worked there and she said she’s only lived here’s 6 months. A person could walk every inch of this postage-sized town in about a week, so I would certainly not rate the hotel staff highly on customer service! Definitely going back to the Best Western across the street next time.

My boyfriend and I stated here on our way to Moosonee, ON. We loved that our room, the restaurant, and the train station were all in the same building. It's very convenient in the morning!

Staff was friendly and helpful, and service was prompt and efficient. The rates are very reasonable and the rooms are clean and pleasant.

This is a very well-run hotel. If I'm ever in Cochrane again I will definitely be back.

We stayed here with my family on our way up to Moosonee. We had an amazing stay and really enjoyed ourselves. When we got there we were greeted by the nicest people and they helped and explained themselves thoroughly. The check is was very quick and efficient. It was priced very reasonably. We then headed up to our rooms, which proved to be the perfect size for the 3 of us and very clean. The room was a little cold when we got in but a small adjustment on the air conditioner fixed the problem quickly. We were on track side but had no problems with noise. We got our wake-up call on time, and went downstairs where our receipt was ready and waiting. We enjoyed our breakfast at the Station Inn Restaurant which is located in the same building. It was affordable and very good. We then got to sit in the lobby of the building to wait for the train. It was overall a great trip.

This small hotel sits right above the train station that serves passenger trains to Toronto and to Moosonee, Ontario. It is extremely convenient being able to simply walk downstairs to board your train and we liked that alot. The rooms and hallway were very clean and personnel were friendly. Our room had one double bed and the room was very small for two people which is the main down side to this place. For a short overnight stay it is good but for a longer stay the small room would be not so good.

Ontario Northland's Station Inn is literally part of the train station in Cochrane, Ontario. For those traveling by train on the Ontario Northland Railway between Toronto and Moosonee, it is inevitable that a night must be spent in Cochrane.

I was scheduled to arrive in Cochrane around 10:00 p.m. one Thursday evening in early May. Ontario Northland's Polar Bear Express [sic] was, however, a little over four hours late leaving Moosonee and a little over six hours late arriving in Cochrane. (While local reports in Moosonee had confirmed that the train's arrivals and departures have been a little bit more predictable during the last few months, this kind of delay has apparently been pretty common in recent years.)

When I checked into the hotel at 4:30 a.m. I requested (with some reluctance) a 7:00 a.m. wake up call in order to prepare myself for the (scheduled) 8:00 a.m. train departure for Toronto. I settled into my bed a little before five to catch the elusive two hours sleep...

But the hotel had other ideas and I received my 7:00 a.m. wake up call at 6:00 a.m. An anguished call to the front desk provided an unsatisfying explanation to the effect that an earlier power failure prior to my arrival was somehow or other responsible for this snafu. The night manager, in response to my request for a partial rate reduction as compensation for my mistreatment, assured me that the manager would be in on Tuesday and that he would be happy to talk to me then. (Tuesday was five days and at least one country ahead of me at the time.) As soon as I hung up the phone with the front desk, the phone in my room started ringing again. Apparently they were committed to waking me up no matter what the cost.

One other point bears passing mention: When I initially approached my room on the upstairs hallway, I had to pass through a double door with this sign on it: "Danger Do Not Enter No Fire Exit." In my exhausted state it took me a while to comprehend the fact that my room was actually in a wing of the hotel which no longer had a serviceable fire exit. Apparently, the provincial authorities have been given sufficient incentive to look the other way when it comes to the fact that the Station Inn (at least at the time of my visit) was renting rooms without proper emergency egress.

I realize that not everyone who visits this hotel will have this exact experience. So take your chances if you find yourself overnighting in Cochrane Ontario. I can, however, tell you that there is a very new Best Western across the street that looks quite welcoming from the outside. I can also say this is the first time I have ever given any establishment a one star rating at TripAdvisor.

I was in Cochrane for the Centenial celebration in May 2010. I had never been in the Inn rooms before and was amazed and pleased with everything. The recetion desk staff was pleasent and helpful. The room was clean and larger than expected. I was there three nights and had no complaints. I read another review and wondered if we were talking about the same location. If in Cochrane again, I will stay in the Station Inn again. I recommend it to anyone.
