My family and I stayed at Spirit Bear in August. It was our first experience at a bed and breakfast and we enjoyed it enormously. We felt at home because Eva and Terry, as well as their 2 adorable dogs made us feel that way. I would definately recommend this place to anyone looking for a home away from home.

Perfect location in Bracebridge, Muskoka. Eva and Terry were wonderful and made us feel very welcome during our short stay. Room was great, very clean and breakfast was scrumptious! Certainly hope to return soon. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We just had the best experience staying at the spirit bear, I can't say enough good things, this place felt like home wish we could of stayed longer. Not quite sure of these bad reviews because our stay was quite opposite. The hosts were amazing and very accomodating. We have stayed at many B&b's and this one exceeded our expectations....

I waited a little while before doing this review as I wanted to be fair. The good things are the location and the rooms although they are small and have no TV and one shared bathroom. The beds are comfortable. I am not a big fan of B and B,s and this one did not live up to expectations. We...

Thank you for your feedback. It is unfortunate that you did not feel welcome. As we live here we did have other commitments during your stay. Both the code to the door and a drink area was quite obvious in the Great Room. We left the door unlocked for your convenience so that you wouldn't have to worry about a...

Room was cozy. House was large and beautiful. Good proximity to Manitoba street. Terry was a fantastic host. But Eva made my girlfriend cry. (Storytime: on our first morning we slept in and missed breakfast. On our second morning our hosts were still in bed at 9am when we came down for breakfast. We didn't want to wake/bother our hosts...

Thank you for your feedback Noah. Just to be clear, you requested breakfast for 11:30, which would be considered brunch and the food we set out for you went to waste as you did not come downstairs until 1:00 pm. Also, we had not been advised in advance of your religious/dietary needs so we could accommodate you better. We are...

We stayed here for 3 nights in the slightly bigger room, Grundy Lake. Eva and Terry were both extremely welcoming and we warmed to them quickly. We have a 16 month boy who is very lively and they were extremely good natured to him as well. They went above and beyond in allowing us a little space in their fridge...

We stayed here for one night because we had a wedding to attend. Eva and Terry are very friendly and welcoming when we checked in. The building is beautiful and very large. The bed rooms are a decent size and very clean. They served such a wonderful breakfast in the morning. I would choose to stay here than at a...

We have stayed here twice. Each time we have stayed we have enjoyed ourselves very much. Eva and Terry are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. The bed and breakfast is within walking distance to the Main Street for restaurants and entertainment. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Terry and Eva are wonderful people and hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting them and their 2 gorgeous dogs. Their home is lovely and very unique. Our room was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was yummy - homemade quiche, fruit salad, yogurt etc. Everything was very clean and well-appointed. We'll definitely stay again next time we are in Muskoka. Thanks for...

October 18-19, 2014 It was absolutely the best trip to Muskoka for us so far. The weekend was chilly, but Eva's and Terry's hospitality warmed us up with their kindness, care and attention as it would be from very close friends. The former church - the Spirit Bear accommodation - is very spacious, airy, comfortable place furnished and decorated with...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Your comforting home away from home in Bracebridge - Spirit Bear Bed & Breakfast is in a church that has carefully been renovated into a beautiful and spacious home, located in a quiet residential neighbourhood, but central to downtown Bracebridge. The frame Primitive Methodist Church was built in 1845, and purchased by The First Baptist Church at Bracebridge in 1887. In 1892 the building was bricked, and in in 1936, an addition was built at the back. The building functioned as a church until 1989. Since that time the church was converted to a home, and in 2007, to a bed and breakfast. We offer two carefully appointed guest rooms with Queen bed, luxurious linens, and complimentary spa-inspired amenities. There are two shared guest washrooms, a three-piece with shower on the upper floor with the guest bedrooms, and a three-piece with bath on the lower floor. The Great Room, formerly the sanctuary of the church, is tastefully decorated with cozy seating areas, books, games, wireless internet access, and television.Breakfast is served in the Great Room daily between 8:00 and 9:30 am, and includes hot and cold selections, fresh seasonal, and when possible, locally-grown produce. We offer a daily special along with a basket of freshly-baked goodies each morning. Complimentary cold beverages are available at all times. Please advise us of any dietary needs or allergies, and we can accommodate you.•Open year round.
