I had a great few nights at this cottage location. My family and I were very pleased by their clean cabins. The kitchen was full of utilities that you’d need. The bathroom worked as well, only downside is the low pressure but it’s still not a complaint that would ruin your stay. We were able to rent a boat and enjoy our stay. I’d also like to mention that the employees were very sweet and professional. There is a gentleman who was helping us with our boat that wasn’t starting and had fixed it in 15-20 minutes. He was super friendly and was kind to everyone around him. Thank you!
I’d recommend this location to everyone. Will definitely book as they are available once again.

We booked a cottage for our adult family for a peaceful escape to relax and recharge. Birch Cliff resort did not disappoint! Beautiful location, spectacular lake. The resort is very quaint and extremely well kept. The staff are very friendly and always available for assistance if needed. Our cottage was very clean and fully equipped. Plenty of activities to do...or just sit on the dock and enjoy the beautiful scenery! We will definitely return next year!

We stayed at Birch Cliff Lodge mid June as a quick escape following the provincial lock down. We had originally booked it earlier in June and the management team, specifically Darlene, were so accommodating to change our dates when restrictions prevented us from visiting as planned. It is a very cute place. Our cabin (Everest) was very clean, well-equipped with everything you need, and perfectly cozy for 5 of us! The bathroom could use an update but other than that we thought it was perfect! We especially loved the screened in porch on the rainy nights. The cabins are very close together, which we had expected based on reviews, so we had to be very aware of our noise level at night because our neighbours had small children. Our cabin was a 30 second walk to the waterfront, Lake Baptiste, which was beautiful. Overall, a great place to relax and reconnect with family and friends!!!

Our family has stayed in many of the cottages, over the last 25 years. Overall we have always had a memorable, "must return" holiday........unfortunately, I suppose all good things must come to an end. Customer service has indeed declined, cleanliness and provisions within the cottage have seen their time (several times over). We stayed in the North House, the largest cottage (a house) to accommodate a large number of people. We have stayed in this cottage many times....and it has not changed.....in the last 25 yrs...with the exception of a new counter top and toilets in the bathrooms. Arriving late one evening....We entered the cottage to find a tremendous smell, not musty....but sewage like. We unpacked, got the kids to bed and spent the day outside....our guests arrived. And after touring all levels of the cottage, we discovered a very used cottage....unclean, and even disgusting in the lower washroom (usage and vomit). The beds and linen seemed clean....and that was about all we could say in terms of meeting our expectations for cleanliness. Needless to say, we purchased cleaning products and thoroughly cleaned the cottage the next day. We promptly went to the office and shared (reluctantly) our findings.....surprised and thinking perhaps the cleanliness and quality of the lodge had gone downhill....("perhaps this was clean to them?"). They apologized and explained that someone had been getting into the cottage and apparently using it, uninvitedly. They had found messes before our arrival. They mildly apologized, and said they would investigate the smell, and the doors that would not lock. Long story short....the locks were replaced while we were staying there, the smell investigated, and was to be dealt with, and additional linens were provided for us to soak up the wet bathroom floor....all the time someone sat on the toilet. Gross. Water? Dirty water? We tried to enjoy ourselves, despite the inconveniences, and the urge to stay somewhere else.
Staff were pleasant...however were not into compensating the terrible situation. "That's too bad.."
Needless to say we paid the most for our cottage....for the week we were there, for the most out dated, poorly equipped and yes, dirty cottage in the lodge. Other cottages, for less, have been updated and fully "re-newed" according to some staff. We were not told of this, nor advised of a similar cottage that was updated, and able to accommodate our numbers. The cottage seemed thrift store equipped.....from about 30 yrs ago.
Apparently over the years the mighty dollar has become more important than customer satisfaction. I guess they are busy enough these days, they no longer need to worry about poor experiences, or meeting basic patron expectations for a clean, comfy place to stay.
We left with the cottage far cleaner than when we arrived. But we are just a lowly customer....(spending over 3000 during our stay).....among the apparently much more important guests who enjoy their stay. Sad to see things change. Will we stay there again? Not sure....over the years we have spent thousands of dollars staying at this lodge, and now to know that we are nothing but a cash transaction.....has changed our perspective on the lodge.

The resort and setting is lovely. My husband and I went for three nights in October. We were the only ones there because they were in the process of shutting down for the season. The cottage was left open and key left on the table. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. We also asked to rent a boat which was left at the dock. The only saw one person one day by the dock who assisted us with getting the boat started the first day. Now the negative - For most of the time we were there it was stormy and a few times the power went out. At no time did anyone come to the cottage to check to see we were OK. During the storm a large tree fell across their road and we reported to them. The next morning someone did come and remove it, Still no one came to see if we were OK. Because of the stormy weather the lake was too rough to go out into most days. We did manage to go out 2 mornings for a few hours. I asked the property manager if we could get a refund for the boat rental and she assured us that they would send a cheque. To this day we have not received anything. I have made a few attempts to see if this was still possible and received no response. Conclusion - Lovely place but very poor customer service.

The cottage was clean, airy, comfortable and stocked with the items you need. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere around the property was fabulous. There was lots of hot water and a large fridge. We will be back! For families with kids they have a number of daily programs for the kids which we noticed had great participation.

Response from David M, Front Office Manager at Birch Cliff Lodge

We are very pleased to hear your stay with us was pleasant and hope you will return next summer. Our children's recreational director is planning to return next summer so it should be another great year as we have lots of positive feedback on the children's program this year. The waterfront sites are very nice and especially beautiful in the autumn. If you get a chance to visit for a weekend sometime, try to come when the leaves are in full color. Overlooking the lake with the beautiful colors is simply eye candy. Please come back again. We appreciate your feedback.

My family and I stayed there this past long weekend and were extremely disappointed with the campground. The spot we were given had no road access, was right next to the rec hall and was in the middle of four other sites. There were very few trees and absolutely no privacy- it felt more like a parking lot than any kind of a nature experience. The fire pit had also been used as a garbage can and the picnic table was filthy. We would never camp there again.

I discovered this little gem on the internet, while searching for accommodations in the Bancroft area. We stayed in the Maple Haven cabin (they all have names) and had a superb experience. There were four of us all together and although it was cozy, there is a spacious screened-in porch (where we spent a lot of time) and an open patio area as well (where we had breakfast on our second morning). We ate a big breakfast on Saturday at the nearby B.C. Cafe (recommended by staff) and it was delicious - we highly recommend the blueberry pancakes! Our cabin was super clean and having a microwave, dishes, a fridge, and stove, meant you could bring in your food or avail yourself of the local Bancroft restaurants (we did both). There is a lovely dock, beach area and playground for kids. There is a real family and very friendly feeling and we felt right at home from the first moment we arrived!!

Lovely, clean and well-equipped cottages. Ideal for a family vacation. We were a family of 9 including 5 adults and 4 children aged 5 to 9, three generations. We had a wonderful holiday. Staff were very attentive and courteous and we felt very welcome, very at home. Lots of things to do, or if you want to just relax with a book, this is the ideal spot. Sunsets defy description! Highly recommend!

"Ask for one of the updated cottages, and be sure to ask when it was updated. Check cleanliness upon arrival and insist that they make it right.
Birches has an amazing view, Restinup is nice.....closer to the lodge is busy with people walking around, 4eeee's is nice, but close to the camp grounds. Grandview is right on the playground and closest to the beach....excellent for families."
