Neil and Michael are amazing hosts and owners of this beautifully restored building. They share their passion for doing things in life in the right way. Each room has been decorated to a specific decade with the quintessential touch of knowing how to treat guests in a welcoming way. Breakfast is exquisite. Thank you !!

Sometimes an inn is a place to lay your head. The MacKinnon-Cann Inn was so much more. Neil and Michael are wonderful hosts; they take the time to make you feel welcome. They know the area well and are engaging. The inn is a beautiful restoration, very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Thanks!

Can’t say enough good things about this inn and it’s owners. The building itself has been very skillfully and lovingly restored. The rooms are super comfortable and very visually interesting. Neil and Michael are the perfect hosts. Breakfast was amazing. If I could assign more stars I would.

One of the highlights of our vacation in Nova Scotia was our stay at the MacKinnon-Cann Inn, located on a quiet, residential street just a couple of blocks from the main street and the waterfront in Yarmouth. Neil and Michael were welcoming and entertaining innkeepers with helpful advice on what to see and do in the area. We were delighted by their stories of the history of the Inn and the area, while enjoying a delicious breakfast. Their passion for restoration and preservation of this and their other properties is evident everywhere. The rooms are designed and decorated with comfort for guests in mind.

Neil and Michael were absolutely fantastic hosts! They are warm, welcoming, and very interesting people who have done an amazing job saving this once-condemned building and converting it into a haven of peace and comfort. Our family stayed here for my mother's 80th birthday and Neil helped to plan a very special evening surprise of delicious cake and tea served on very beautiful and exceptional china. We ended up being incredibly late for the cake surprise due to a fiasco at a local restaurant, but Neil was flexible and accommodating and made sure that mom had her heart-warming unique treat. The rooms are wonderfully comfortable--we especially loved the spa tubs!-- and every single detail is lovingly planned and executed. Our big regret is that, in the end, we only stayed here one night! I would highly recommend this inn and we certainly will return when in Yarmouth again!

I absolutely loved our stay at the MacKinnon Cann Inn! The Inn was just beautiful. The room was quiet, could not hear anything outside our room, and the bed was so comfortable. The whole inn was beautifully decorated with period pieces. Each room was set in different decades, we stayed in the 1900’s, which I loved. Our favourite part of our stay was meeting the two gentlemen who own and restored the Inn, and the surrounding buildings. Michael & Neil really made our stay that much more enjoyable. Friendly, helpful and wonderful stories. Could have sat and listened to Michael talk all day. Very interesting and entertaining.

Neil and Mike, the proprietors of this lovely home are so much more than innkeepers! They've lovingly restored this beautiful property as well as 3 others in their compound. Since we were the first guests to arrive for the few days we stayed, we had the opportunity to tour all of the decade-themed rooms from the 1900s to the 1960s. We stayed in the 1950s room, which was large and comfortable. Mike and Neil are knowledgeable about the area and pointed out several things to do that we so enjoyed! Breakfast made by Neil and served by Annie was yummy, while Mike regaled us with stories from the area, saying "I'm the entertainment!" Such a comfortable stay!

We had an incredible experience. The Inn's owners did an amazing job renovating historic buildings and mansions. Rooms are large, comfortable, clean, and private. The Inn is located in Yarmouth's historic area; it's convenient to museums, restaurants, and archives. Food is incredible. Owners have in-depth knowledge of the area and its history. We made one mistake. In our opinion, there's nothing in the area as nice as this Inn. We should've stayed longer and used the Inn as a base. We could've easily visited nearby counties and return to the Inn each night.
