My sister and I stayed at A Boat to Sea on May 31st, 2022. The owner, Jane, couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful and definitely couldn't have provided a better breakfast. Her home is lovely and comfortable. I cannot say enough good things about A Boat to Sea.

Two couples stayed at Jane's delightful and comfortable Bed & Breakfast for two nights in October, and we thoroughly enjoyed our host, Jane, and her delightful home, with shimmering views of the harbor and Sydney Bay. The rooms were comfortable with excellent bedding, and each had a private sitting area by the windows for reading and viewing the bay-harbor. We took rooms on the 2nd and the 3rd floors and found both to be good choices--the 3rd floor room is accessed via a circular iron staircase and is a bit tight for large bags, but it worked out fine. Our friends really enjoyed the expansive views from the 3rd floor lookout room. Rooms had coffee-makers in suite. Our host Jane was very accommodating,& knowledgeable about all things in Cape Breton, and also prepares delightful full breakfasts, with eggs, toast, fruit and some special touches---and has a long history in the area so she gave us good information on area sights and our planned Cabot Trail loop drive and shops and sights along our route. We also drove over to Fortress de Louisburg, a now restored French fortress which was an interesting historical day trip out of Sydney. Thank you Jane, for a delightful stay at Boat to Sea.

A Boat To Sea B and B was quite the find. Needing a jumping off place for the ferry to New Foundland we were very pleased to have selected Jane's fine home. From her greeting when we arrived through the delicious breakfast and all the talk around the table we couldn't have been more pleased. Jane sat with her guests after breakfast had been served and played the tour guide giving each guest pointers and allowing us to relate our own experiences from the previous day. New itineraries were being formed in the moment. Our experience was such that we expresed our wish to stay again on our return trip and our disappointment in not being able to get a reservation from booking.com. Jane immediately checked her bookings and was able to place us in her third floor loft which booking.com does not handle. Our return to North Sydney a week later was a wonderful repeat performance of the first with an even better room at the top of her spiral stairs. The view from the topmost floor out over the bay is fantastic. With a king size bed and attached bath we could not have been more pleased. Breakfast the following morning was a repeat of our previous stay and with new destinations in hand for touring and shopping we had anew itinerary to follow. Many thanks Jane for the wonderful hospitality and the referral to the crystal shop where we bought our daughters champagne flutes for her wedding. We hope you get your sailboat, The Boat To Sea, back in the water soon.

A lovely B&B at the edge of the harbour and ideal for accessing the Cabot Trail and Louisburg Fort.. Immaculate and comfortable room with a really nice general lounge area. Jane, the proprietor, went out of her way to make us welcome and help with our itenary. Breakfasts were to die for.

My daughter and I visited A Boat to Sea this August and we can highly recommend the bed and breakfast. Jane, your host, is expert at making guests feel welcome, knows the area very well and offers great advice on things to do and see. We enjoyed a great afternoon based on her recommendations. The rooms are wonderful, the beds luxurious, the home full of art and collections. The grounds are lovely. The delicious breakfasts are made with love and fresh ingredients. My daughter loved every bite! It is a totally positive experience!

When I booked this on line I thought looks nice - overlooks the inlet - but upon arriving and enjoying the double tier back garden area with chairs and a swing chair - is just great. Then the inside is furnished so well. Top that off with a knowledgeable host in Jane and a wonderful breakfast - it is just great. Wish we could have enjoyed a second night.

My wife and I stayed in the East wing second floor room, very comfortable bed. The views with house being on the water were very nice. Our lovely host, Jean was very helpful with suggestions of places to dine, and attractions to visit. The breakfast each of our three mornings were excellent, and different, omelettes, pancakes, bacon, fruit cocktail etc. Would highly recommend.

We were fortunate to stay in the lighthouse room which is normally reserved for family. The view was exceptional! Our host was very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. If you plan on staying here contact the inn directly and see if the lighthouse room is available, you'll love it.

My husband and I only stayed a night before we had to catch the ferry to NL, but Jane, the owner, was fantastic! Very welcoming, explained the set up of our room and her property, which is gorgeous and relaxing. We were served a delicious breakfast of fruit, yogurt, toast, ham, and an omelette with Gouda and mushrooms! The coffee on the deck overlooking the water was also a great way to start the day, there was also coffee and tea options coffee in our room if we wanted. Our room was the West Wing, which was clean, comfortable, but I would have liked another curtain on the door to our room, it’s a glass door with a privacy blind, but the hallway lights still shine through. Still had a restful nights sleep and would definitely recommend, Jane is very helpful with suggestions and tips around the area for restaurants and sightseeing.
