Place was not particularly clean and stank very strongly of tobacco from cigarette potts laid around all over the place. Building is in tired state and in need of redecorating. Unless you’re a smoker, I would strongly advise against staying here.
We arrived and immediately questioned our choice. The town is over run with Trans Mountain Pipeline workers so not much choice in making another room purchase that same evening, let alone a month hence, so we were stuck with a filthy parking lot; no real place to park; and upon entering the room, we immediately spied the heap of toenail clippings in between the beds. The management was notified and the remedy was to re “swiffer” the room floor. Toe nails still there. As well, a photo of the towel I used to mop the bathroom floor after the “cleaning”, and although I won’t post it here, it is disgusting. I wouldn’t stay here again unless I absolutely had to. Yuck.
Difficult to rate this inn objectively. Reading the reviews, some had a great experience, some said run! We asked to see the rooms first as I told the owner we had read terrible reviews, but we’re assured we’d been given newer rooms. I stated that if we had issues and questions I better not get rudely treated or their would be consequences. The rooms were good. I do like a hot bath after a long day driving. One of the bathtub stoppers didn’t work. I was afraid to try the shower as I wasn’t sure the valve was balanced. So can’t confirm. The air conditioner was a small through-the-wall unit that operated fine though it was mounted a bit too high. I was awoken at 3:30 am by train horn blasts - but that’s not the fault of the inn. This is a busy working town with numerous trucks stopping and passing through. Many of the higher-rated motels in the area are similarly exposed. The current husband/wife owners were friendly and helpful. I noticed they accommodated a large family with paddle boards, finding them secure storage. They didn’t mention a pool but the hot tub was closed for maintenance. No problem. We just wanted clean beds and to be treated with respect. The TV was limited and picture quality not fantastic but again, not a priority for a quick one night stay. Internet was a bit slow at peak hours but I ran a speed test when the trains awoke me in the early morning and I was getting 6.8Mbps and 1.3Mbps @ 239 ms. I can’t address other review complaints though I did ask about them at check-in. I was told it’s difficult running an inn. I get it. Hopefully these particular owners understand the importance of professionalism and good facility maintenance. I’d stay again. Hopefully I’d get a hot bath next time.…
I have stayed here quite a number of times traveling through for business and have never had a problem till today. I walked in asked if they had a room available owner said yes I said okay how about a kitchen for the night owner says we don’t rent kitchens for one night.I said okay I’ll go somewhere else maybe then he goes no I will sell you a room for the night normal room is $109/night now it’s $125 plus an extra $135 then he says another $25 for the kitchen. Anyways the owner was super rude I may have recommended this before but will never recommend. Steer clear I recommend!
the owner told me to sleep on the street he is rude he yelled at ne because the ac didst work and said i woke hm up, he threatened me and went after the other ppl i had paid for in another room hello help hello worst place ever
I stayed there with my young son and my father on the way to Vancouver Island. Our room was impeccably clean, the staff was friendly, the beds were comfortable, and the location was quiet. It was also only $85 when other hotels in town were $130+. Don’t discount this older property, it is a gem.
Stopped for the night to golf the next day. The room was clean and comfortable. Liquor store and pub right across the street. And esso with Tim Hortons next door. Very convenient. The view of the mountains right out your door is amazing.
rooms were not clean . wouldnt take a bath or shower the area was disgusting.stains on the wall, a ring around the bathtub but the beds and linens smelled clean and looked clean.it was late at nite and we were on motorcycles and the weather was bad otherwise we would have continue down the road.Owners need to clean it up
Booked a room last minute after cutting my Berg Lake trail short because of bad weather. Check in was a breeze and the staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. The hotel looks a bit dated from the outside but our room was very nice and newly renovated. The room was large and the bathroom was great, loved the powerful hair dryer. The beds felt new and were very comfortable, as well as the pillows. The wifi was a bit slow but other than that no complaints. Note that there is a busy train track in Valemount and we barely noticed it at this hotel (whereas in our previous hotel we would wake up every 2h because of it). I’ll come back for my next hike!
Only one small electric heater was working in the large main room but staff provided a space heater upon complaint. Walls were thin and could hear people talking in other rooms and on outside hallway plus road noise was noticeable. Wifi was only good for email, couldn't handle anything more demanding. Bed was comfortable.
