The stunning beauty of this lodge is beyond words. Constructed with personally chosen red and yellow cedar to fulfil their dream of owning a fishing and wilderness adventure destination resort. You can see the pride and feel the love that was put into this resort.

The von der Burg family welcomed us as the successful winner of a local fundraiser event put on by the Fort St James Community Foundation. We arrived as guests and departed as friends. They treated us with exquisite dinners, true European breakfasts, wonderful stories and some family secrets. We shared a special German tart (Grandma's recipe) accompanied with their lovely presence to celebrate a birthday.

Our fishing guide, Willie Schmidt took us out on the Skeena River or our one day guided fishing trip and we had our quota in 3 hrs, finishing before noon. Our guide then took us to see the lava fields at New Aiyansh. We had a great day and the lava field trip ticked one off the bucket list.

We felt this was a trip of a lifetime. The awards that Little Wolf Resort has received are truly deserved. This family made it hard to leave.

Terrace's little secret. Shhh...

Words like incredible, unbelievable and awesome simply seem inadequate to describe Little Wolf Resort.

My wife and I have been blessed to stay in some amazing accommodations around the world. However, we have never stayed at a resort as impressive as Little Wolf. The beauty, tranquility and quality of the resort situated in a lush forest on the Skeena River is only surpassed by the service, hospitality and warmth delivered by family owners Wolfgang, Gabriela and Philip. This gracious family went out of their way to ensure our every need or want was not just met but surpassed. We felt like a king and queen.

We opted to include the breakfast and dinners at the resort during our stay. We requested fish and seafood as this area of BC is famous for their wonderful salmon and other seafood. The food preparation and presentation were outstanding - a true culinary experience. Wolfgang prepared delicious cedar planked salmon that he caught fresh that day. We also enjoyed king crab legs, Dungeness crab, halibut as well as the different kinds of smoked salmon that was done in Wolfgang’s smoke house. Breakfasts were also impressive with a vast array of foods served so beautifully. You certainly will not go hungry as the portions were very generous.

Wolfgang demonstrated how to filet the salmon, prepare the freshly caught Dungeness crab and gave us a tour of his smoke house.

The accommodations were wonderful. The room was spotless and included a large sitting area, two very comfy queen beds, luxurious bedding, towels, plush robes, slippers and beautiful bathroom. There are only 4 guest suites on the property, so it is a very quiet place.

The main lodge is out of this world and has so many outstanding features that a description does not do justice. From the moment you walk in the front door it takes your breath away. You must see it in person to truly appreciate the majesty of this place.

This incredible resort was built by the Timber Kings who have been featured on the Discovery Channel. It is worth staying here just to experience this amazing build but there is so much more to enjoy during your stay.

This part of Canada features world class fishing. The Resort has 5 miles of river front property on the Skeena River and is just a short walk from the main lodge to the river. You can fish for different varieties of salmon right on their property.

The family provided us with numerous itinerary options while in the area which we really enjoyed. We loved fishing on the ocean and river at Kitimat. Also were fortunate to see the salmon spawning. Another great recommendation from Wolfgang was to take the NISGA’A highway north of Terrace to see the lava fields, drowned forest, stunning waterfalls, a dip in Lava Lake and a visit to one of the Indigenous communities. All these experiences were fantastic and made for a great vacation.

The only trepidation I had in writing a review on the Resort is that once people discover this amazing place for themselves, it could be very difficult to get a reservation. Despite the concern, these wonderful people and stunning resort richly deserve all the accolades they are certain to receive.

Thank you, Wolfgang, Gabriela and Philip, for giving us an amazing experience. We can’t wait to return!

This may be quite a long review! When I found Little Wolf Resort online, it looked too good to be true. I was concerned that there were only 3 trip advisor reviews, and only 6 on google. Also the price for two people for 7 nights, meals included was much lower than comparable resorts.

Well, it is all true. Every word on their website. This is a true log castle. The owners have put so much love and attention to detail into every part of the property. It is very much family owned and operated. Just the three family members do everything, but always to perfection.

The room: Just as pictured. The beds and bedding are lovely, very clean and pressed. The towels are big, sparkling white and smell delightful. The baseboard heat is very effective, but the room also stayed cool when needed. Big fluffy robes, too.

The food: Incredibly delicious and plentiful. We could not possibly eat everything put in front of us. Quite meat-centric, but they are prepared to meet everyone’s needs. Wolfgang caught a sockeye salmon in the Skeena River that runs behind the property. Over 3 days, we watched him delicately filet it, cook half for dinner that night and then demonstrate smoking it.

The activities: We were not visiting for fishing, unlike the other guests (5 British gentlemen). Wolfgang provided us with an itinerary each evening for the following day. Each evening we reported back to him and Gabriela much to their pleasure. Beautiful walks (forest bathing!) and a full day guided touring and kayaking on a peaceful lake.

The property: a truly magical mini castle. There are only 4 en suite rooms with luxurious shower. The property itself is wildflower filled and peaceful. Obviously no expense has been spared in design and construction.

The family bend over backwards to ensure you are happy and all is provided. When we were there the 5 fishermen were also there for three nights. It made things a little difficult, since their schedule was quite different from ours (they were up and out before 6am and dining until 11 pm). Gabriella and Wolfgang did everything they could to accommodate all of us. Two more rooms are under construction in the main lodge.

I hope this provides enough information to validate everything they claim!

What can I say to do Little Wolf Resort justice.
It is a breathtakingly beautiful place right by the Skeena river with amazing food and wonderful hosts.
My father and I stayed for six nights and we have never been looked after so well, we were fed a veritable banquet each night and spoilt rotten by our hosts, they cannot do enough for you.
If you're looking for somewhere special to stay, don't consider anywhere else, you wont regret booking here.

From the moment I arrived at Little Wolf Resort I was amazed by the stunning architechture, unspoilt nature and incredibly friendly hosts. This resort instantly felt like home and somewhere I would defintely return to. The lodge is breathtaking and should be considered an attraction itself. Rooms were spacious and much classier than any 5-star hotel I've been to. Food was incredible. The quality of and amount of food would be the equivalent of thousands of dollars if it was at high end restaurant. This resort simply has everything you need to enjoy yourself, do some fishing or simply relax and enjoy the spectacular nature. I honestly could not find a fault in this place and I've made many memories I will cherish for years to come.

After having experienced Little Wolf Resort in Terrace BC it will be very difficult to appreciate any other place we will ever go to as everything there is simply perfect. There are not enough stars in the Galaxy to rate Little Wolf Resort and hosts Gabrielle, Wolfgang and Philip. They are amazing people and they made us feel as part of their family. Meals were outstanding and fishing was great. Absolutely 1st class.
Thank you again Gabrielle,Wolfgang and Philip.
