Sono appena tornato dalle vacanze di pesca a mosca dal B.C. Canada. Per la terza volta sono stato al Deep Creek Lodge dei miei cari amici Francesco e Sara Guerriero. Il lodge con intorno 20'000 mq di giardino curato come un prato inglese con un laghetto e 20'000 mq di bosco si trova a 15 minuti da Terrace e a mezz'ora d'auto all' aeroporto di Terrace (1.5 ore di volo a Nord di Vancouver). Le strade asfaltate e larghe sono migliori di molte che vediamo in centro di Lugano. Un posto idilliaco adatto sia per pescatori che per famiglie con bambini e per anziani che vogliono immergersi nella selvaggia natura del British Columbia,al confine con l'Alaska. Fiumi e paesaggi stupendi, vedere orsi bruni con i piccoli, grizzly e aquile dal collo bianco. Il lodge è molto bello e ben curato, ho potuto constatare ( la prima volta ci son stato nel 2013) che viene costantemente migliorato, ha a disposizione il comfort a cui siamo abituati a casa nostra. La cucina di Sara non ha niente da invidiare a quella che mi offre il ristorante Talvo di Champfer in Engadina o il Principe Leopoldo di Lugano, certamente l'arredamento è meno di lusso ma perfetto per un lodge. Evidentemente i piatti raffinarti di Sara non sono adatti per decerebrati che spesso ho incontrato in lodges andando a pescare in giro per il mondo, abituati a porzioni giganti di pasta, patate e steaks di 3 Kg ricoperti di ketchup e che sono soddisfatti solo quando possono sfamare alla mangiatoia di bovini. Ho pescato sullo Skeena e sul Kitimat, il secondo a mio avviso è più adatto per la pesca a mosca, sia per la minor larghezza che per la presenza di tantissimi spots dove si può entrare fino a metà fiume dove l' acqua è meno alta, inoltre il Kitimat ha tante anse e vi ritrovano lunghe strisce di ghiaia dove ci si può fermare e pescare dalla riva. Ci si sposta in barca o gommone senza motore. Occhio agli orsi, perché anche se in generale scappano ai rumori stanno vicino ai fiumi, li ho ammirarti da vicino anche con i piccoli. In quanto a salmoni quest'anno ho catturatoe rilasciati meno Pinks degli scorsi (nel 2014 in 7 giorni di pesca 86 e ca 250 persi durante il combattimento) , non ho preso Cohos ma in compenso c'erano più Chums in risalita .Con l' aiuto di Francesco e della guida ho avuto la fortuna di catturarne tre sui 10-12 Kg. Con una 9 piedi coda 8 (finale da 15 Kg) portare a riva tali bestie è come sparare col fucile mitragliatore senza appoggio, 20 minuti di combattimento e 3/4 d' ora di riposo in barca per evitare l' infarto.. Il costo del soggiorno e per la pesca con guida è più conveniente di quanto offrono altri lodges nella zona, in particolare tenendo conto dell' alloggio, della cucina e del il trattamento famigliare che si riceve. Unico neo , per i pescatori, si alza alle 4 del mattino :)) e si è fuori fino alle 6 di sera, per i “vecchietti" come me non è più così scontato. La prossima volta intercalerò 2 giorni di pesca a uno di riposo. Grazie Francesco e Sara ! Fabio

Abbiamo trascorso una settimana meravigliosa al Deep Creek Lodge. Ottima l'organizzazione per le uscite di pesca in luoghi paradisiaci, sublime e curata la cucina e confortevoli le stanze! Ritorneremo sicuramente!

Accoglienza, organizzazione, pulizia, cordialità. Ambiente famigliare in un contesto paesaggistico senz'altro da ricordare per tutta la vita. Organizzazione delle battute di pesca al salmone sull'oceano e sui fiumi Kilimat e Skeena perfetta. Una esperienza che consiglio fortemente a tutti. Lodge adatto per i luoghi di pesca situato all'interno della foresta con un bellissimo stagno circondato dalla vegetazione tipica del Canada BC.

most evenings the food was over cooked and going cold the portions were less than child size the quality if the food left a lot to be desired, the breakfast was much the same we had cold breakfast as we left by 5am each morning very expensive for what we got . our room was in the basement with one small window.
