The easiest and most convenient complete getaway from Vancouver you could wish for. In under two hours you’ve sailed through Active Pass, which in my well-travelled opinion is one of the most beautiful voyages in the world; and at Schwartz Bay, the end of the ferry voyage, you only have ten minutes of driving left to get to your beautifully designed sea-front hotel. This little town has big city boutique clothing shops, lots of good restaurants, tons of bookshops and the best private art gallery this side of Toronto. What’s not to like about Sidney by the Sea?
Very bad experience staying in this so called dog friendly hotel. A very rude employee verbally Insulted me and my dog in the elevator. I was astonished even more that I have not heard any apologies from the rude employee after I answered the hotel survey and reported this very bad incident to the hotel manager. We stayed at this hotel the night before flying out from airport. A female employee dressed like chambermaid and I waited for an elevator. BTW, there were TWO elevators. She entered first then saw me and my small dog entered. She asked to keep her on short leash. I was already keeping her close to my feet. I assumed everyone works in a dog friendly place like dogs, then I tried to make a small talk, and said my dog is very friendly. Apparently this friendly approach annoyed her. She said it does not matter if dog is friendly or not, she hates dogs. Stupid me still trying to be nice, and asked if she had had bad experiences with dogs when she was young. Now she got even irritated and warning me If dog gets close to her, she can't stop kicking it. By now I feel really scared that she may actually attack my little poor dog. My voice was shaking when I returned to our room and described whole terrible encounter to my husband. I can’t stop thinking why dog hater has to work in this dog friendly hotel in the first place? If labour shortage is an issue to get dog loving employees, at least the hotel management should have some basic trainings to their dog hater employees. As hotel guests we deserve some fundamental respect and dignity. We are not here to be insulted. She could let us go on the first elevator, and take another elevator herself. Or if she wears dog hater badge, I would let her go first, and we take another elevator to avoid this very upsetting situation. It has been 15 days since this incident happened. Now I start wondering if the survey from this hotel is a joke. How seriously the hotel management take the complaints. I even questioning myself that I was ignored because I am an Asian female. If I were a caucasian male, I probably would not had the first insult and secondly, I won't be ignored by hotel manager. We travel a lot with our beloved dog. We picked this hotel due to its location and dog friendly policy. It was our 1st, and will be the last stay in this hotel for sure. I certainly will advise all dog lovers to avoid this hotel.…
Very enjoyable stay at Sidney Pier, the hotel covered all our needs. Large comfortable room, super view with good heating. The staff went out of their way to make everything perfect for us - thank you. We’ll be back.
Wonderful location by the sea. Close to shops and restaurants as well as Victoria airport. Comfortable, immaculate rooms (10/10 cleanliness). Reception was super; professional and friendly. I absolutely recommend this hotel.
The location is superb Lots of shopping local is great. The restaurants in the hotel are great with a lovely view of the waterfront The rooom provides all that you need. Staff is personable and very kind. We are looking forward to coming back and I have already told a friend they need to book when head to Victoria to stay in Sidney
An exceptional snowstorm that brought airports to a halt, and made road travel impossible, meant many of us sought refuge in your hotel. The staff were exceptional though they too were struggling with personal shortages, heat problems and snow clearance . Thank you for all you did to help us and the cheerful attitudes that kept our spirits up. We will visit again in less streeful times.
A wonderful two night stay at this hotel was almost not enough. The rooms were very well appointed and quiet. The layout and space was great to stay in. The check in and out was easy and the loads of parking with no garage door made it easy to come and go. Close to everything in Sidney and even close enough for meetings in Victoria. You owe it to your self to stay here if coming to the area. I will make more time for the amenities including the spa next time. Thank you for a great stay.
I've been here for a while now and the reason I keep coming back is that the rooms were so clean and the staff were so nice and friendly. Thanks to all the hotel staff for a hard work. I highly recommend.
Billing was incorrect at checkout. They tried to charge me differently than my reservation stating reservation was in USD. I paid and went to breakfast, going the reservation and it was in Canadian. Received a refund. The room has a blinking green thing hooked up to the phone line. Very bright in a dark room. Curtains did not cover window completely sliding street lights to shine in. Otherwise room was beautiful. Area makes for wonderful walks.
Overall excellent. Monitor - Furniture needs some touch up hare and there. Reception/service was responsive and timely. Good parking - well spaced out. Enjoyed any exchange we had with hotel personnel. Survey set up is combersome
