This is an old motel that the new owners are renovating. The room itself was quite nice. New paint and floors and furniture. The bed was very comfortable. The shower in the new bathroom was very tiny. The towels were new and fresh and there was shampoo. Here comes the weird part. There was a “kitchen” which I think was still being renovated. The old cupboards were zip tied with a sign saying do not use. The full size fridge was not plugged in nor was the microwave. There was a coffee maker with supplies.
Our daughter had a separate room with a bar fridge and new bed. She got upset when checking in as she was told she couldn’t have her two 11 yo sons as there is only one queen bed. She had tried to get a room for 3. Finally the owner said they would all have to sleep in one bed as they don’t have cots.
The Happy Salmon is about 5 minutes east of the town so for meals you have to go back into Salmon Arm or continue on to Sicamous.
I think once they get the motel finished it will be a nice place to stay overnight

We stayed one night in this cute, clean little place. Staff were smiley and very quick to respond to requests. #104 had comfortable beds, a table with 2 chairs, a fridge, pod-type coffee supplies/maker, and some completely empty cupboards and drawers. We suggest some paper towels and dish soap as standard supplies; they were quick to supply same when asked. Oddly, there was no way to open a window, so we kept the fan running through the night. I like a little white noise anyway, so no problem. Small TV with cable only. Perfectly fine for an affordable motel, and definitely met my #1 requirement: cleanliness.

We stayed for one night on our way out to the west coast. Appreciated the cleanliness of our room! A bookshelf with a small collection of artfully arranged books gave us the impression that the owners really care. The motel is right next to the highway, so we did need to keep the air conditioner on so that the sound of the fan would mask the traffic noise. That did the trick, and we slept well! Very much appreciated how the owners have set up some chairs in circles on the lawn in front of the motel. Again, a sign that they are willing to go the extra mile.

The lovely couple who own & run this motel have done renovations that make for a comfortable stay! They are very strict about their check -in time (4pm) so don’t expect to slip in early! We learned our lesson! Anyway, two comfy IKEA chairs set up in the living room in front of the TV have lots of space for storing luggage. The bed is in a separate room with a door that can be closed. They have double paned windows that prevents one from hearing the traffic. The A/C & the wifi work very well. Nice bathroom , fridge & coffee maker. We would stay here again!

This small motel just 8 km east of Salmon Arm makes a great stopping place between Vancouver and Calgary. Units are simple, clean and reasonably priced. The manager and his family make an effort to accommodate your needs. The location is good if you're new to the Shuswaps and want to explore the area and visit the Last Spike historic site at Graigellachie.

We stayed two nights in #107, which is on the back side of the building (facing away from the highway). It was very quiet and clean, with cable tv and decent wi-fi. The couple who run the motel were really friendly and happy to help. It was a bit chilly during our stay, which we didn't mind at all, but if you like it warmer I'm sure you could just ask the owners and they would turn up the heat a bit. The comforter and pillows were super soft and cozy so we were fine. The place was easy to find and is located a very short drive from Canoe Beach and not far from Sicamous either. It also has some outdoor seating that I took advantage of to read a book one afternoon. I recommend it for a shorter or longer stay :)

So glad we stayed here! The owner greeted me with a warm smile, and was friendly and welcoming. Such a simple gesture but it means a lot to me. Very soundproof room considering proximity to highway. Our room had a cute bright funky colour that was a cheerful welcome after 12 hours of driving. Not your typical old fashioned highway motel at all. Room was very clean, with two queens and a table and two chairs. Loved the added touch of children's bedtime stories on the book shelf! We'll stay here for sure on our next trip through Salmon Arm. Thank you to the owners for providing the perfect motel experience.

I don’t typically write bad reviews because I usually receive at least fair service in a people service business such as THE UNHAPPY MOTEL. I was unable to make it for my stay due to my father passing away. To me it seems like a legitimate reason for not making it to the motel. I cancelled more than 24 hours before and was still charged the full rate. I called them to explain the unfortunate passing of my father and spoke with a very unfriendly worker who said it’s too bad and they are charging me anyways. No empathy was extended, only rudeness. I became frustrated and then the owner got on the phone who was extremely mean. He was yelling and confirmed it is too bad, they are charging me anyways. I am going to be honest and admit that I did tell the owner where to go at the end of the call and I don’t regret it one bit. I am so devastated my father passed but so happy I never stayed here. I will make sure to keep spreading the word about the owner of this place.

What can I say about the Motel Happy Salmon, for a start is is not near Salmon Arm, but a drive away. It is situated at a place called Canoe, which has no facilities at all. It is also a 2 km drive from the lake, which is across the main road in Canoe and has a small General Store and a sometimes (I imagine) open bar /restaurant but not when we passed by.
The room obviously once had a functioning kitchen, but no more, and this was made very obvious by the threatening signs and cable clips securing the cupboards. I have never encountered a hotel/motel room with so many warning signs of fines if you disobey. It made us frightened boil a kettle (we had our own teabags).
The small shower was OK once we worked out the functioning. The bed was clean and comfortable but the room looked as if it had been furnished from a Thrift Store.

Rooms are clean, but that’s about it. Owner is a scammer who charges for time not used. We booked two rooms for two nights, but decided at noon day of check in that we were only going to stay one night. Charged us for both nights two rooms.
Outside picnic tables are basically painted fire wood and unusable. All other outdoor furniture should be trashed.
DONT STAY HERE.
