Travelled in group of 4. Enjoyed our stay and the company of our hosts. Warm welcome great organic healthy breakfast. Lovely historical home very well maintained and even has a baby grand piano if it takes your fancy. Thank you Carole and Rod, one to remember.

Rod and Carol run this immaculate and beautifully preserved heritage B&B. Our room was delightful - with the bonus that French doors at the end opened onto a screened-in sleeping porch (with another double bed). This overlooked the beautiful spacious garden tended by Rod. The garden ends at the edge of a conservation forest...our early morning visitors included quail, pheasant and a magnificent stag.
Carol's thoughtful, elegant and understated decor created a sense of peace and ease throughout...a welcome change from the usual B&B plague of teddy bears and dusty knick-knacks. Breakfast was delicious...the highlights were local berries bursting with flavour, fresh-made yogurt, and absolutely the best egg and cheese dish we've ever eaten (think frittata/omelet/scrambled eggs made with seasonal herbs and artisan cheese).
The wrap-around ground-level verandah was ideal for quiet reading and conversation. Indeed, we became so engrossed in chatting with Rod and Carol after breakfast that we almost forgot to pay the very reasonable rate (cash or travellers' cheques, not credit card).
Tyn y Coed is not air-conditioned which concerned us initially because we knew we were going to be there during 30C+ weather. We need not have worried. It turned out that the old house was well insulated from the heat and there were constant cooling breezes through the bedrooms.
Access to wifi was easy and fast. Tyn y Coed is smoke and alcohol free.
Highly recommended

A beautiful heritage home on the outskirts of Salmon Arm, set amongst trees in a lovely tranquil garden.
Carol and Rod are exceptional and helpful hosts, with a warm welcome and interesting conversation. Carol provided excellent and varied breakfasts on the deck each day, and both she and Rod remained there to chat with guests.
Our room and the large shared bathroom were immaculately clean, and so many things in the house invoked interesting conversations about their provenance.
Definitely a place to recommend to travellers seeking a real home-away-from-home !

Staying with Carol and Rod was an experience I will long treasure. Their house is exquisitely decorated and has the feel of times long gone, from the screen doors with the old fashioned latches to the beautifully decorated long verandas. Their warmth and hospitality was exceptional and the full breakfast delicious. The house is spotless and the garden, with its rose enclosure and hanging baskets, beautiful. Loved it.

My wife and I were driving from Vancouver to Banff and stopped along the way in Salmon Arm. Although it was only one night it was a wonderful one. Carol and Rod are a sweet couple who run an adorable little B and B along with their fluffy cat Oumie. The house is impeccable with large rooms and big fluffy beds. Aside from Carol and Rod being warm and inviting hosts, the breakfast that they served was heavenly. From home made local yogurt to fruit muffins to eggs and all the fixings it was the best breakfast we had in Canada in the 11 days we were there. So if you're driving through Salmon Arm stop by and say hello to Carol and Rod and sit down with them and have breakfast and good conversation. And don't forget to pet the cat.

This is a beautifully kept and welcoming B&B in a quiet spot. Our two rooms were delightful and the large beds were the most comfortable of all our holiday accommodation. It was a pleasure to meet Carol and Rod and chat easily over a huge breakfast. We stayed just one night on a longer trip but could have happily stayed longer as Salmon Arm is also rather lovely with an 'off the beaten track' feel. We ate at Shushwap Chefs (fab!) nearby and strolled on the wharf at sunset spotting ospreys (and thwacking mozzies!).

Just as others have noted, over years of staying with Rod and Carol for Roots and Blues, we came as guests and became friends. Their house is a gem of early 20th century architecture, the wood floors and railings burnished by time and many visitors to a warm glow, the wraparound deck reminiscent of an English country home, looking out on a green lushness populated by chickadees, nuthatches and other friendly birds. Stepping into this house, you suddenly become aware how frenetic a pace we live in the 21st century compared to a century ago.
Carol's breakfasts are invariably a tour de force of gastronomic delight and artistic flair, her eye for colour in a setting of Victorian filigrees impeccable. Rod has such a warmth and genuine interest in people, his smile could light up a city block. Probably the best B&B my wife and I have ever stayed in.
