All I needed was a bed and a shower so I will say this for Travellers Rest, I got that for a mere $70. Although the hotel is very old, that didn't bother me. Many older hotels are nice if kept clean and updated. However, the inside of this room was pretty bad. Spider webs in the corners, grubby floors, and I'm not sure how they cleaned the sheets and towels as it looked like hairs were on them, possible dog or cat hairs. Not very well kept at all. Molding was gone from around the inside of the door and the air conditioner was stuck in the wall and unfinished around the edges. No smoke detector either. Kind of a Bates motel feeling to it. However, at least the owner answered the door and rented the room to me where the hotel up the street couldn't be bothered to even answer the door, even though the open sign was on. Try a little elbow grease and a few repairs and paint. Those things are certainly affordable fixes.

Large suite, 2 queen bed, a pull out a kitchen, small bathroom. Room was not ready at 9 pm,hmmm? They were the only place with a room available on the long weekend, for a reasonable price 123 including tax. They had a/c but the room in the back was hot. It was okay.

BC stands for ``bring cash``. Another old motel. Price was high compared to what I usually pay but I believe it was par for the area. Staff was friendly but I was terribly disappointed to find mouse droppings in the drawer when my wife asked me to grab the comforter. I put it over our feet but I convinced my wife that it was warm enough without it. I never mentioned what I saw because I wanted her to get a good sleep.

We stayed one night over the thanksgiving long weekend. I had tried other motels but was told all rooms were full so in desperation I called the travellers rest. I say that because I know how old this motel is I used to rent a room from them over 30 years ago and driving past it over the years I noticed the curtains always looked the same.
Upon arrival I checked in, the manager seemed nice so I paid and he gave me the key and instructions where we could park. We were running tight for time as we had a wedding to attend so quickly we opened the door, my husband and I were aghast the room tweaked of mildew, we heard a loud stereo playing and suddenly there was a strange man at our door. He seemed intoxicated, said he hoped he was going to be alone and he wanted to know if his music was too loud. My husband told him it was like he was partying in our room so after a short discussion he left telling my husband that there would be a cold one in his fridge when we got back. We quickly got dressed for wedding and put most of our belongings back into our vehicle. We did not shower because there was mould in the bathtub under the plastic mat that you could see through. The corners around tub were either extremely dirty or mouldy as well but we did not investigate further. We went in Salmon Arm and bought a can of febreeze to spray the room because of the stank. When we returned to room we immediately sprayed the room to make the room tolerable. We could hear the neighbours tv so instead of knocking on his door we turned on the tv in out room. It was an old tv but it worked. The chair in the room was the same fabric from when I lived there over 30 years ago, as was the curtains, the bedspread. The table beside the bed had so many cigarette burns on it the entire front edge was one burn beside another all along it. The carpet had marks on it like pee stains from maybe a pet? The bathroom light that was on the outside wall by the closet rod did not work at all, someone had installed a light right above the door which would not have been bad but the door had a window so the light stayed on all night. Because the room stunk so badly we were hesitant to use the bed but we knew we needed rest before our long drive home the following day, so we sprayed more febreeze hoping if it smelt better we might rest. The chain lock on the door was broken so we did not feel secure. I tried to use wifi but no network was detected on my mini ipad. The final straw was when I tried to take my nightly medications there was not a cup or glass in the room. Since it was late there was no light on in the office so I had to improvise a container to get a drink of water. There was a coffee pot, coffee, and fixings for morning but nothing to drink out of. I tried to bring my concerns to the manager when I returned my key in the morning but the sign on door said open but door was locked! This motel needs to have major work done , the windows and walls were wet in the morning from condensation. I agree with others this motel needs to be inspected and improved or condemned.

We booked this hotel a month ago and the manager kept saying book through Expedia. I did and even had a few conversations with him about friends that would be checking in etc. My friends with their baby go up all the way from Oliver to check in and he says Expedia glitched and our room was no longer Available. No phone call or warning nothing. I called him and he said it wasn't his fault and nothing he could do and that its expedias fault. They gave our room to somebody else that didn't have a reso. They should learn how to run a business.

I honestly I wish I could give this place no stars. We arrived to find the front of the "motel" covered in broken furniture, thrown all across the lawn. The person working the front desk was covered in dirt, his hands were absolutely filthy which he proceeded to put our pillow cases on with, WITHOUT washing them. A fight broke out in front of our room between two people clearly on drugs. The room was BEYOND dirty. The floor was covered in mud and hair, the walls were dirty, there was only one light bulb, the dresser was broken and there was URINE stains on the bed.I left, I honestly couldn't do it, I was actually scared.Expedia should have never advertised this, it is NOT a motel.I have stayed in some pretty bad hotels, hostels and I have even slept in Walmart Parking lots but this took the cake. It is straight out of a horror movie. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEEEEE do not stay here! This place needs to be investigated.

My family and I stayed at the Travellers Rest motel this past weekend and had a great experience. Our room was clean, comfortable and very well maintained. The new management is doing an excellent job, and any inquiries we had were met with genuine concern for our comfort. This motel is working hard to pick up their reputation and I would say that are succeeding vastly. The rooms are basic, but if that's all you're looking for, this motel has my full recommendation.

There was dirt all over the floors, moulding missing, threshholds were bent, towel bar missing. Worst place I have stayed ever!! There was even medicine from a previous patron left in the medicine cabinet.

This place is the last motel headed East toward Alberta so rather than head back into Salmon Arm we decided to stay. One of the notes posted to the office door said knock on room #9 - a very messy, smokey room with a DRUNK guest who says he is the new manager. He took us inside the office, behind the counter in the laundry room! and wanted us to leave our credit card number with him, NOT! We gave him cash! Isn't there a law about the type of people who collect CC numbers?!!

This is the most run-down, poorly maintained accommodation I have ever seen and should be condemned by the city! Apparently the city of Salmon Arm doesn't respect it's tourists too much! There is mouse feces in the utensil drawer, water problems, mushrooms and the walls are paper-thin! Poor Business Practices!Disgusting!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the travellers rest. As mentioned prior, the room was very basic but the new manager was very consciousness of our needs: ensuring we had ice for drinks, clean towels and enough coffee for our early morning departure!! The room was very clean, especially the bathroom, and shower which was very important. The highway is right out front which can be noisy but with chairs to sit outside and fresh mountain air, it can't get better than that. I will definitely be stopping in to this hidden spot next time I'm in BC; I appreciate developing a relationship with the hotel manager rather than just being another tenant in a motel!!Thanks Kelly!
