This place is just awesome. The accommodation's, hospitality and food were excellent. We went in early September for the 4 day hiking which was also excellent. You can go guided or unguided and there are trails for all sorts of experience levels. I love remote and you will get it here. My friend liked it because we were not in...

I have thought long and hard before writing this review. Our family of 4 (with 2 boys aged 12 and 14) were one of the first guests to experience the "Hut to Hut Glacier trekking and mountaineering" experience with SME. It was truly an out of this world experience that I will never forget. The entire week was simply unbelievable....

A gorgeous setting far from the city, wonderful mountain hiking and scenery and comfortable and cozy accommodations with hot showers and delicious food! Helicoptering in means that you won't run into any other hikers. Guides were wonderful.

I had a fantastic experience at the Durrand Glacier Chalet! The landscape was pristine, lovely, interesting, and fun to hike. The staff were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and a pleasure to be around. The food was extremely good and enough variety was provided so that everyone was satisfied. This Swiss-style mountain experience was beyond my expectations, and I had high expectations...

We have just returned from a wonderful 4 day stay at Durrand Glacier Lodge. The staff made us feel welcome and at home, and the accommodation was very comfortable and clean. Delicious and beautifully presented food was prepared by both Nicoline and Chef Englebert. This was all a bonus, because we went for the hiking - and it did not...

Even though this is a world class place to do ski mountaineering (I have been here close to 20 times), it might be even more spectacular for rock climbing and mountaineering. Climbing fantastic big granite walls and mixed ice and rock in big alpine routes in this pristine enviormental is truly special. Since you are the only people there you...

From the moment we were met in Revelstoke the trip was amazing. The drive along the Revelstoke reservoir then the helicopter trip were all planned and executed smoothly. Waiting for our flight we were treated to home baking from the chalet's chef, Englebert. Upon arrival we were shown our room then given a brief talk about the lodge and procedures....

Alpine touring (randonee) skiers are a curious lot. We ascend up to 1500 vertical meters or more every day, under our own power, to ski down ungroomed and unpatrolled slopes, in snow ranging from powder to horrid ice/breakable crust, in weather ranging from brilliant sunshine to howling storms to light so flat as to make visibility almost non-existent. For people...

A few years back I asked a friend (with vast knowledge of skiing) where he would go if he could choose one place to ski: without hesitation he indicated, Selkirk Mountain Experience (“SME”). After receiving my friend’s recommendation, I visited the SME website many times over a period of about four years. Although each visit to the SME website left...

This is a place of stunning natural beauty, exceptional ski terrain, amazing snow and world class hospitality. The accommodations are clean and comfortable. The chalets (there are now three within a day’s travel) offer relative luxury in a remote backcountry location. The entire operation is off the grid and eco-friendly. The food is excellent by any standard. The ski guides,...
