Stayed for a night on our recent trip to the island...during our stay the covid craze was in full effect so services were somewhat limited but that being said we enjoyed our stay! The room was clean, pet friendly, and easy to access! The hotel is conveniently located near downtown as well as near some of the hiking trails in Rogers creek park...the pool and spa looks super clean and inviting however they were closed to the guests due to the virus! I was a little skeptical going in but would definitely stay here again! The front staff were also really friendly and helpful!!

The front desk clerk advised that they are giving the hotel a large renovation including new beds, air conditioning and many other features. The bed was our only complaint but for the price compared to others could hardly complain. The hotel is immaculate. If it was not for the bed would have given them a 5. Never tried their breakfast buffet (great price, just too early for us).

I visited this motel in the winter. The oustside looked a little tired but it was a gloomy day. The reception area is nice and cozy with a sitting area in front of a warming fireplace.
The reception staff was friendly and courteous. They let me check in early with no hassle. They also printed something for me, no hassle, no charge.
The room was up to date and clean.
I was somewhat impressed.

The property has an indoor pool which I didn't use, but heard kids going down the hall to enjoy it.

Quite enjoyed my stay.

I would honestly say we make a yearly trip to Port Alberni from Sooke, BC with our kids hockey teams and we usually stay at the Best Western in Port Alberni. This was our first time staying at the Hospitality Inn and it will definitely be our last. Upon arrival the double bed room smelled of stale urine...we had to keep the window open in the cold to air out the room. Numerous other parents noted smells in their rooms too. We had the breakfast the first morning and were excited about the omlete station. It was ok at best. The omlete was not cooked all the way through and was cold in spots. The rest of the continental breakfast was ok, typical continental breakfast. The final straw was noticing clumps of mold spores in the bathroom near the ceiling after getting out of the shower. We also found pills, of some sort, in the window sill.

This hotel also offers a "hockey team rate" for tournaments....dont let that fool you if you are travelling for sports, as the rate we were given and paid for was $20 higher than any of the rates for the same dates online. Overall we were thankful we only stayed 2 nights and definitely will be booking in with the trusted Best Western Hotel for any future hockey trips to Port Alberni

I travel with a service dog and the majority of the staff have no idea of the laws concerning service animals. Not only do they break the law by stating on various sites "No service animals", but they also broke the law when they charged me extra fees for having my service dog.

If you find that you have to stay at this hotel I would avoid room 118. My buddy stayed in that room and the smoke detector was missing with only the wires hanging out of the ceiling.

As for the hotel itself, it is average at best. Some of the staff were polite and friendly but the majority were rude.

It would be nice to have known they shut the pool down as well as the hot tub…no continental breakfast, no restaurant, broken coffe maker, no toilet paper and our toilet wasn’t flushed when we arrived. Our pillows are old and flat and there were crumbs and dirt all over the bed sheets and covers. Our bathroom and closet doors wouldn’t close and the drawer on the dresser kept opening on its own so ended up injuring myself getting up in the middle of the night. The hotel staff had no clue where anything was in town and were no help at all. Our internet keeps cancelling out on us. This hotel is the worst dive we have ever stayed in! We will make sure to leave many reviews to ensure others don’t share our experience.

After a week of staying here in Port Alberni I received our bill. The Hospitality Inn charged me an extra 40.00 for the last 6 nights without any room changes or consultation. The reply I was given from the hotel was the rates fluctuate depending on occupancy. So at their discretion, they simply add an extra 40.00 night.

Horrible Hotel. The pictures for the site are from at least 5 years ago. Outside is totally neglected as weeds are everywhere and the vegetation that is alive is overgrown. Rooms are not clean as mattress pad is stained, chairs stained, dead bugs, broken mirror repaired with plywood, dated rooms, etc. They need to hire people that know how to clean and not have their family do it. Pool area is closed as it is in need of repair not covid. This Hotel requires an extensive Reno. Had more pics but won't fit in review. Stay elsewhere.

Over priced and run down. Staff said we were the only room in the hotel and then booked a trashy, noisy couple who yelled and wandered the halls naked at midnight right next door to us. We had to move at 12:40am into a room that was freezing cold and rundown. Paint chipped and peeling, bathroom tub chipped and peeling, taps not working etc. Would never stay again.

This place is pretty bad. Rooms were all up the stairs, no elevator and the entrance was dirty with garbages overflowing. Room was super hot yet it cooled down a few hours later with the AC on. The neighborhood is super sketchy - homeless and unsavory characters everywhere - not safe to go outside alone. The one benefit, and only benefit was that the bed was actually comfy. Not overly clean, but comfy to sleep ( in our clothes). We will only ever stay here as a very last resort and at least we will be prepared ...
