Our first vacation in Nelson! Loved that we could walk everywhere! Our room was clean, beautiful and spacious. The room was a great value and terrific location. We will be back and look forward to staying here then as well.

Our second visit to Nelson and to the Victoria Falls Guest House and both as good as ever. Nelson is fascinating place both in terms of its setting on Lake Kootenay and with its heady mixture of frontierism and flower power. Awash with interesting stores along Main Street, a large co-operative supermarket like no other we've ever visited and a jumbo community recreation centre, there is something for everyone plus a jumping off point for touring the Selkirk mountains. Kaslo north along the lake is an absolute must. Victoria Falls Guest House fits right into the Nelson style. A traditional building split into self-contained apartments it offers the comforts of home right at the head of Main Street, making everywhere walkable. Clean, well maintained and with all mod cons we enjoyed our stay and will certainly be trying to make it back to Nelson and the Guest House before too long.…

My husband, our dog & I have stayed at VF four times. It's great. Spotless. Comfortable. Character. Affordable. Within walking distance of everything. The owners are very responsive. And when you arrive, the door is open & you walk right in. It makes us fell like locals. We have visited in the winter (lots of snow), spring (it felt like summer) & fall (beautiful colours) - and we have stayed in 2 different suites. Each time was just right. We can't recommend it enough!

This was a wondeful place to stay...Cathy-Ann was soooo accommodating with us for our 5 night stay in mid May. We stayed in the Falls Suite and was quite suprised on the place regarding the cleanliness, the amenities, the BBQ, including the use of the washer and dryer and as it was so close to the downtown. I highly recommend The Victoria Falls Guesthouse and will do so, Brian S. Winnipeg, Mb.

This is a fantastic heritage property right in the downtown area of Nelson. We stayed in the Baker Suite, which had a kitchenette, 2 bunk beds, and a separate bedroom. We found the bed comfy and slept well. Everything was very clean. You can walk everywhere from this location. Some reviewers complained about the noise, and it's important to note that the majority of houses and hotels in Nelson are heritage, and you will hear people walking above you or being noisy on the street. We personally didn't hear anything obnoxious from the nightclub across the street. The guest house also provides white noise machines, which helped a lot.

Thank you so much for reviewing our guesthouse! You are absolutely right about the heritage houses of Nelson! When we bought this building we put extensive soundproofing between the floors and it sure helped but it doesn't turn it into a brand new home! I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay and we hope that you have a great summer. Cheers, Cathy-Ann & Kelly

We spent a week in the Baker Street Suite/Verandah Suite. We loved the property with an interconnecting door between the two suites and the furniture which fits with the age of the house. The property is on the Whitewater side of Nelson so very easy to get to the hill and parking is available on site. Positioned just off Baker Street everything is within a very easy walk but is very quite at night tucked out of the way - perfect.

Spacious rooms with gorgeous views of the lake, mountains or garden. The neighborhood was both safe and quiet and just off of Baker street which is the main street downtown. We were able to walk everywhere easily and the house is historical and super quaint. I had concerns that we would be on top of everyone in the house but we literally did not see or hear anyone else during the three nights that we were there. The beds were super comfortable and we are already hoping to book again for next year! All in all, top notch!

We stayed in the Herridge Lane Suite with its own parking stall and BBQ just outside the front door. Everything for a great stay was provided, from a comfortable bed to a coffee grinder and coffee for that great wake up cup, and if needed free laundry facilities. Down the alley is a great French bakery and another block away a fantastic restaurant in the Hume hotel with vegetarian and gluten free options. We drove to the Ainsworth Hot Springs for a refreshing day. There are many activities in the area from hiking and biking to kayaking and fishing. This quaint town has everything you need to get away from city life. Lots of unique shops and people who love to strike up a conversation. Relax and make the trip. You will return with memories and smiles.

Nelson may be a town of just over 10,000 but you'd never believe it with everything that's going on downtown. That's makes the Victoria Falls Guesthouse a great choice. Park your car (for free in their parking stalls) and walk mere blocks to everything! Very affordable for everything we had: charming decor, clean smelling room, comfortable - clean bed, clean bathroom that was in great working order, large kitchenette. We stayed after the Canada Day long weekend for 2 nights in the Falls Suite; my husband, 21-month-old son and I. The toddler is a handful so 'eating in' is a better option most times and the kitchen is well appointed to cook pretty much all you need if you're keeping busy on vacation. sidenote: there are several grocery stores in town... not just the Co-op.... (locals like to promote the Co-op ;) The deck didn't have a gate so we used a bungee cord-pack'n'play combo to keep the baby safe while we barbequed and sat outside. The Falls Suite may be on the 2nd floor, but it's kind of the 3rd floor because of the basement on the hillside. This means two flights of stairs on the outside of the building... I heard about the nightclub across the street. It was noisy at 2 a.m. and that was on the Thursday night. We should have kept the window closed, but thought... 'that's a nightclub??' ... but, yes... those patrons linger way too long in the middle of the night. Maybe if we had a babysitter, we would have joined them!.... otherwise, close the window at night. Floor is creaky, another reason when we heard this we chose the top floor.... Free wifi... I rated service as Very Good, not Excellent... because there is no service. lol. Don't expect the maid to come by... but I read the laundry is open on the main floor. Not a problem for us!! The owner came by on our last evening to say hi. Very thoughtful! Thanks!!…
