My mom was admitted to hospital. I had no overnight bag prepared... desk attendants were empathetic and helpful as they found me a housecoat, USB charger for my Iphone and provided me with a toothbrush and toothpaste. Marzanos restaurant allowed me to order a meal even though the restaurant closed in 15 minutes... did not feel rushed and they were

This is an excellent property in Nelson, BC Canada.

The deluxe rooms facing Baker Street are really spacious and well appointed. My only complaints are the smallish TVs in the room. The length of the room between the TV and the bed is quite a distance and the current TVs are just too small. Recommend placing 55+ inch TVs to better appoint the room.

The location on Baker Street is prime for walking tours of town attractions. Clean and quiet rest day for a bike tour of the Selkirk route. The whirlpool tub was lovely as were all staff. The river view from my room was disappointing and the overpriced frozen omelette patty breakfast made me sick all day. Find the true foodie scene that Nelson is known for.

We have been travelling for years on motorcycle trips and have stayed at many different chains and many different hotels and this by far was the best stay we have ever had. We actually stayed an extra night because we were so impressed with the area the location of the hotel, staff and the amenities. Our room was well-appointed and the bed was super comfortable. We were constantly subjected to "good mornings" and "how are you", not only from the front desk staff but from the housekeeping staff as well. None of it ever appeared to be forced and most genuine which definitely says the management team must be positive, motivating and definitely hiring people that want to make a difference in the hotel industry. Three mornings we sat in the adjoining restaurant for our breakfast while we watched two of the staff members sweeping the curb along the front of the hotel as well as the parking lot across the road. They would then be watering all the plants and we actually watched one of the gentleman "deadhead" the plants! Right! Never ever seen that before. The location is excellent for easy access to walk the town and a quick spin around the corner and you're on Highway 3 if you were heading out of town for rides or for anything touristy. We will definitely be back to Nelson and definitely be back to this Best Western.

Best Western on Baker street in Nelson, BC, is conveniently located in downtown within walking distance of dining, shopping and lake access. The rooms are clean and staff is friendly. In line with other hotels the rates have gone up significantly, but hotels amenities remain the same. Inclusion of free breakfast would have been appreciated, to match the increased rates.

We realize hotel prices in Nelson are high in July however the room we were given at the Best Western Plus did not match the $250 rate. It was small and located on first floor which is the basement.
There were no complimentary water bottles.
Only one bedside table. Bathroom was dated and small.
We stayed two nights. When we asked to have the room serviced mid afternoon on our 2nd day the front desk told us "we are not servicing rooms during Covid". Is this the new practice at all hotels?? The hotel website lists the things they are doing during Covid however they did not include no housekeeping!
Also, there was no complimentary breakfast as is standard at most BW Plus Instead we were given a voucher for a $10 per person breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
Not impressed with this hotel.

Very comfortable beds. The rooms are clean and location is fantastic and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’ve stayed here several times before and have never been disappointed. If you have pets they have dedicated pet rooms so your fur baby can travel with you. I’ve used that in the past when I had a dog.

Great location, can walk easily to the different shops and restaurants. Great parking location. Clean and welcoming lobby. Room was impressive.

Katy at reception offered an outstanding service with a smile and connected with the clients with ease and showed patience along with sincerity. She told us about places to eat; cantina Centro, where oso Negro coffee shop was.

She told us what shops to go to eg ooh la la , shoes for soul. She was right about Nelson’s shop closing early which gives the town the small town vibe.

Excellent service by Katy. The gentleman in the morning was friendly and said hello and good morning in a confident manner.

I wish that there was a free breakfast. We had to pay for breakfast at the adjacent restaurant. Waiters were good. I had eggs, bacon, arugula greens, and sourdough bread. Yes, the quality was good. You can tell that the organic eggs were very fresh and as all the rest of the ingredients. Oso Negro dark chocolate coffee offered was sooo good.

Overall the hotel was still pretty good although I expected all Best western plus offers free breakfast.
Spotty internet connection that keeps on dropping out.

I still would return to the hotel with out any hesitation.

Hi CarolineC536, Thank you for choosing to stay at our property and for leaving such a wonderful review. We were thrilled to hear that you loved your experience; the team was pleased to read what you wrote. Katy puts customer experience and satisfaction as her priority and your review reaffirms the hard work that she puts in every day. We were sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the discounted breakfast coupon; just so you are aware there are many Best Western Hotel's that do not offer a free breakfast as it is not a requirement of our brand. So thanks for your kind words and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Warm regards,

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. We received a complimentary upgrade when we checked-in. We requested a quiet room with a king bed because my husband is a very light sleeper. The room was on the top floor and very quiet. Room was spacious and very clean. Enjoyed the big shower head and soft white towels. Overall a very comfortable stay. The food at Marzano restaurant on main floor was very good.

This property has seen its better days. Still, it is convenient, clean and reasonably comfortable, situated on Nelson's Baker Street. Reception is reasonably capable, and staff can be quite accommodating. I would avoid rooms on the north side of the building, as the stree noise can be a bit troubling.

I had no trouble but did not book so far in advance so it might be worthwhile to call them. I always seem to have positive results when I call directly and can get more information at the same time. I hope this helps you.

I came from out of town to Nelson, my girlfriend was also coming from out of town , we decided to meet at the Best Western in Nelson to have a late lunch , early dinner, i parked across the street from hotel , Parking lot sign says "customer Parking"made a quick stop and proceeded to walk to restaurant to meet my friend , as i was walking to the bottom street cross walk, there was something attached to the wheel well on my truck, in a panic i went to see what it could be, considering i drive a brand new truck, they put a lock on the tire, so i went over to meet my g/f who had not arrived yet,i called the RCMP, , who thought they were also being unreasonable, needless to say, i had to pay the 50 $ , for the release of my truck, and they wanted me to still have lunch there, are you kidding me, they were extremely rude. Manager Ryan Martin and Attendant Cane, i am a mature 50ish , working in Health Care system, just wanting to have lunch w/ a dear friend that i hadnt seen for awhile. UPDATE, as i am writing this the Manager has called me to tell me his problem that he does not make enough money w/ Best Western, so he was not there to deal w/ situation , because he was working at the Hotel Hume down the street, wow. He is not prepared to deal with me, he called because he realized that i made a complaint to the head office, which i will now call back. These kids need more training in customer service, and professionlism, to attack someones credibility and make them look bad, to make yourself look better, is not good business, i am sharing this , because i am a very unhappy customer, and membership holder. Social Media can be the judge , and small town i will tell anyone that listens.

does the property have a restaurant and lounge or just a restaurant?
Answer from Ryan M
20 contributions6 helpful votes
It just has a restaurant called the Baker Street Grill. It does have a sectioned off bar area which is more lounge like but it is essentially just part of the restaurant. If you are looking for a nice lounge, you can't beat the Library Lounge in the Hume Hotel.
