We very much enjoyed staying 2 nights at the Villa Motel with our 8 month old English Mastiff puppy Perseus! Very convenient for people travelling with a pet as the door is adjacent to the outside for a quick walking! Very close to the lake and boat launch, and and easy walk across the bridge to the main beach park in Nelson. The Owners and staff go above and beyond to help their guests and make them feel comfortable. Very peaceful and quiet sleep, cosy beds, definitely one of the best in Nelson on the North shore. Very convenient to zip over to walmart, safeway and bc liqour store only 5 min. There is a BBQ for use and a microwave for general use if travelling on a budget, the coffee they provide in the room was surprisingly tasty and flavourful. Larger then normal fridge to accommodate all items in our cooler. thank you! Our stay there made our trip and we cant wait to return, we will be regular guests for sure!

The owner was EXTREMELY helpful & accommodating and staff are very friendly and courteous . Our truck broke down and we got towed to this motel. I can’t say enough good things as we were here for over 2weeks waiting on repairs (older truck). The rooms are very clean ,the kitchen is cozy, it is a one bedroom suite with 2 double beds Would highly recommend this motel as it is quiet, has a great mountain view and close to downtown so no city traffic noise As an added bonus there is a great restaurant with Canadian and great Chinese food just steps away

We looked at staying in downtown Nelson but hotels were $200+. We found the Villa Motel online and the price was very reasonable. We braced ourselves for an old musty motel room with nostalgia decor. Turns out the place was reno’d a few years ago. Clean, nice big room with a giant King Size bed. Good recent model flatscreen TV, decent WiFi, plus a nice desk and chair to do some work. Small basic kitchenette with a mini fridge, sink and counter. No microwave. Small but clean washroom with bleachy white towels and very basic soap/shampoo. Coffee, glass mugs (yay) and powdered creamer. What makes the place great is the friendly hosts and the close proximity to Amanda’s Restaurant - excellent quality Chinese/Western food there. Also in the neighbourhood down the hill a couple blocks is a small sandy beach that has a majestic view of the BOB (Big Orange Bridge), and a fantastic sunset view of Nelson. Good place to launch a SUP or kayak - but the water was a little bit chilly. Caution - the sandy beach may have a few “off grid” campers at night. Mostly harmless nouvelle hippies. We would stay here again for sure!

I would certainly recommend the Villa Motel unless you want to go swimming. The pool building burned down. However, the room was nicely updated with very comfortable beds and a small table with 2 chairs on the walkway where we had dinner

We went as a group and booked 3 rooms at this little motel in Nelson, BC. We really liked it a lot, and the rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. It was quiet at night which is what we really appreciated, and close enough to town while not being really right in the thick of things. We appreciated the manager and front-desk/check-in which was friendly and informative. The pool is going to be under construction for some time so don't count on this amenity. But you'll enjoy your cozy stay here. I'd definitely book here again when I come back to Nelson, BC.

Despite being an older hotel, it was clean and had some updates (flooring, etc). Bed was comfortable. Pet friendly which was essential for us. Also nice to have a full fridge. Easy walk down the hill to a beach where some friendly younger folk were having dips (brrr....November in the Kootenays!!!). Only con was that the bed was cold with not enough blankets; fortunately we had an extra of our own. To be fair we did not mention it to management and they may easily have had extra blankets. They were very friendly so I'm sure they'd have been accommodating had we mentioned it. I would stay again and in fact have already made a reservation for our next planned visit to the area.

Rooms were clean, the staff were cordial and welcoming. Nothing fancy, just a nice clean place to come back to rest and relax in. This is the third time visiting this motel and we will be visiting again the next time we are in town.

Hi, I didn't know Trip Advisor had this feature. Sorry for the extreme delay in providing an answer to your question. For the moment, our Online Travel Agents (Expedia, Hotels, Booking, etc) show us as a "no meal included". However, we offer a complimentary continental that is from 8am-10am in our small lobby that serves waffles, toast, bagels, cereal, coffee, tea, and juice. In 2018, we will launch our first restaurant on-site that will feature a hot breakfast.

Great question. One that not all businesses explain why they do or don't accept cats. We accepted cats until an incident 4 years ago. One of our guests brought in a cat and assured us she had a litter box and litter. Her room was set to do not disturb for 10 nights. Due to other reasons we had to enter the room. Let's just say we got the shock of our life. Unfortunately there was a hefty price to be paid to rectify this issue and loss of sales. Not sure if it was due to the length of stay but we had to gut the room and bleach it. Even then the stench wouldn't go away. We bleached the bones of the room 4 times a day for two weeks. Then rebuild the room from the bones. Cats are very clean animals and it is often the owner at fault. Dogs need to be walked publicly multiple times daily. Cats remain in the room. This added layer of obscurity is the reason. Dogs do make little accidents but these have always been easy to fix. As an accommodation we need to be able to fix any types of problem within a day as we need to resell a room. I hope that answers your question. Bottom line is that accepting cats is too much of a risk considering how badly we were affected. The memory of that incident is almost traumatizing.
